I agree. Pick 16-20 solid linklist that you know you get listed at. Get to know the owners. Not making a bunch of subfolders is also good for SE traffic
I agree with this.

We will not accept them, coze almost all other big LL's don't list them too.

i think the best of all of those options would be the first one but right now i (and many other webmasters) cant do that without loosing ads on html pages and i dont think that is a win/win situation for anyone.
The only 5% webmasters has submissions with nonindex pages at the end of URL.

Kit - I dont mean to prolong this thread but at least 5 or 6 of those LLs not only list sites with mirrored enter.html and warning.html pages but don't have anything in their rules preventing it. I have had warning and enter pages listed at all of those LLs with no problem - only one in the list has changed that I know of - might want to check the sites that were being submitted to see if there was another reason for them not being listed.

We explored dozens submited to us sites and found, almost all big LL's ignore such submissions. This is common tendecy, not our personal opinion.

Kit - actually that was me that posted about the major LLs accepting the enter.html and warning.html pages

I really believe that you might want to take a look at the other reasons some of those submits did not get accepted (things like the place hosted, the IPs, and other whois info) as I believe if you look at GGs or any of the other major LLs new site pages you will find plenty of sites accepted that are not using index.html

Im not saying that there is anything wrong with requiring the index page for your LL - totally up to you :)

I agree, major LL's have a lot of such links in their listings, we have em too. But we noticed, all new submissions with enter.html, warning.html at the end do not acceted in other LL's. I watched it around month or two and decided dont list them too.

We ask only "Site URL" with "/" or /index.*** at the end.

kit - just to play Devil's Advocate, you wouldn't care if I made 4 mirror pages using:

index.htm
index.html
index.shtml
index.php

I have to assume that SE's will look for the true default - index.html - as opposed to the other 3.

But what do I know :D

Just add this to your htaccess

DirectoryIndex thisisreallysilly.html index.shtml index.php index.html index.htm

Now thisisreallysilly.html will be the the default index page.

GG, I know about this trick with index.**** I've found only 2 webmasters using it last time ;-)

So this post of yours does not hold true?

I think like a lot of people out there are like me and Freesites/avs are just one of the many things they do in the adult world.
Lost in this whole debate about this "index page" rule is the submitters are the ones doing all the bitching, the ones that should really be bitching about it are the smaller LL. I dont have extra time to spend on all that making different folders or setting up .htttaccess stuff so I just stopped submitting to the smaller ones, just not worth the hassel anymore for the odd signup here and there. And I bet I am not the only one that has stopped submitting to the smaller LL for this very same reason.
Now I just submit One page and the extra time I used to spend on freesites/avs is spent making money in other areas.
