They're probably doing some serious RE-thinking of their plan...

So many things in this industry spiral into larger things beyond belief... and maybe they're starting to feel this way

Kush 2003-10-12 06:16 PM

Damn that's one ugly thread over that AVS board....

glad I never really ventured much into AVS |skull|

DangerDave 2003-10-12 08:15 PM

THIS IS OPINION ONLY!

I believe most AVS's will be gone shortly... based on the simple fact that the model is not sustainable under the new Visa rules, that require the "biller" to 'own' the content they supply.

Some of the larger AVS's are trying things to get around the rules, but I do not believe that any of them are sustainable.

As of right now, I can't speak for the future, since they can change their minds whenever they wish, but they are happy with this model.
eg: tommorrow it could all change again.

I would not be moving sites from one AVS to another on the word of the recieving AVS saying that there is no problem.. There is a problem and they just arent doing anything about it.

I believe you should look for a longer term solution.. unles you are structured to change your AVS site scripts in a very easy fashion, and wish to do it regularly.

I agree with DD. :(

Time to move on to other means of sales.

Surfn 2003-10-12 08:59 PM

I'm glad to see that others share my view |rasta|

One of the downsides, however, will be a greater saturation of free sites now that AVS has taken a turn for the worse, which on average will probably mean less average profit per free site :(

Cleo 2003-10-12 09:48 PM

I don't think it can get any worse then what can be found at any big TGP.

ditto.

Free sites will always be more profitable than galleries (at least in my opinion)

I love the AVS model, but when you take away (or greatly diminish) the upsells, you might as well just build free sites that sell the sponsors directly.

I'm not buying the whole "exposing members to the great bonus content will boost retention" theory. Good paysites have higher quantity & quality of content, so why make 'em jump through the hoops? |sad|

is AVS still good for business?

SheepGuy 2010-03-30 01:30 AM

Bringing 7 year old threads back from the dead is likely not good for business.
It really makes you look like a sig whore.

dancercash 2010-03-30 01:32 AM

oups sorry
I didnt notice
thanks for the advice

SheepGuy 2010-03-30 01:39 AM

Gotta admit though, going back through the history is an interesting read for a guy who still makes a good chunk of his income from AVS sites.

The sky is, and always will be, falling. |scared|

oldbrad 2010-03-30 01:45 AM

I'm still reading the other 9 4+ year old posts they brought back.

dancercash 2010-03-30 01:49 AM

its my fault i was searching for post that were talking about reviews and didn't pay attention about how old the posts were.
Rookie mistake
I apologize

SheepGuy 2010-03-30 01:56 AM

Cool with me. You have a great idea for a program, I could sell that, just not so sure about Verotel though, if it was CCBill I'd sign up.

dancercash 2010-03-30 02:01 AM

weve been doing business with them since 2003 with the website http://nudemaledancers.com/ without any problems
but im aware that ccbill is more popular
thanks SheepGuy
