Although I was pulling for the Colts, that was a fucked up call by the officials. I must admit the Steelers got “jobbed” on more than a few calls in that game.

As for Vanderjadt, all I can say is Karma is a bitch. You publicly called out your quarterback a while back for “not getting the job done”, but when It’s your time to shine you miss a field goal by a country mile.

Memo to the Atlanta Falcons: |angry| Take a look at the four remaining quarterbacks left in the playoffs and tell me, which one of your quarterbacks most resembles any of the four?

Never mind! I’ll tell you. It’s Matt Schaub 6-5 237lbs. Remember his game against New England? 18 of 34 for 298 3 TD’s 0 Int’s.

Denver still my “darkhorse” (no pun intended) pick to win it all.

My “Out on a limb prediction”. Jay Cutler (Vanderbilt) best QB in the draft.

Preacher 2006-01-16 01:31 PM

Yes the Steelers almost gave the game away again -- just like last year. They seem to like giving good honest fans like Pornrex and myself heart attacks. My neighbors must have thought I was killing someone with all the screaming I was doing during those last two minutes!

But I think everyone can agree that they deserved to win that game with the way they domintated the Colts on offense in the first half and were able to stop them defensively in the second half -- overturned by instant replay and screwed up by the Bettis fumble.

And I could insert the usual Browns joke here, but it's kinda |deadhorse isn't it? |jester|

NY Knicks Antonio Davis enters stands for wife

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=260118004

"I witnessed my wife being threatened by a man that I learned later to be intoxicated," Davis said in a statement issued after the game. "I saw him touch her, and I know I should not have acted the way I did, but I would have felt terrible if I didn't react. There was no time to call security. It happened too quickly."

Davis was ejected as per NBA rules, and faces suspensions, he is also president of the NBA player’s association. CNN has video of this and he ran into the stands as “professional” as he could be, no attitude, no shoving he just went to his wife and made sure she was ok.

I am not 100% certain, but there is a large guy sitting next to where Davis is (gray/black sweater I think) and he loses all color in his face when he sees Davis and from the angle Davis is staring I am thinking this is the guy, as soon as Davis turns his back the guy of course talks shit. But this is just more proof the NBA needs better security and they need better control on the alcohol, it is only a matter of time we have another brawl.

Toby 2006-01-19 10:02 AM

I can't blame the guy for taking care of his wife.

RawAlex 2006-01-19 10:07 AM

Sadly, the NBA is going to be in a position soon to require "hockey boards" or some other setup to keep the fans away from the players and vis-versa. I am truly amazed that there has not been more major issues at these games. The liability has to be huge.

Don't you think that Mrs. Davis should be in a 'players wives/girlfriends' box, where they won't have to deal with shit like this? Its a shame but hey, an ounce of prevention...

That's a tough situation for the home team. Providing an area for visiting players wives/family is going to cut into prime seating, and the number of seats required will likely vary widely from game to game.

So I guess then something terrible or tragic has to happen FIRST before my suggestion gets implemented. Interesting...

Toby 2006-01-19 10:44 AM

Perhaps allocating a set number of seats next to the wives of the home team?

I think limiting alcohol consumption would eliminate alot of the problems. Portland used to have a ban on alcohol in the seating area, before they moved from Memorial Coliseum into the Rose Garden. I believe they still cease serving before the end of the 3rd quarter.

pornrex 2006-01-19 11:00 AM

Very good suggestions, Toby. |thumb

Ramster 2006-01-19 11:10 AM

Just a mouthy fan probably. Shit happens more than people think I'm sure and it is not needed. Go to a game, cheer for your team and don't bother other people. How hard can that be?

I don't blame Davis but did he really need to go up there? Without seeing what happened first who knows. Again I don't blame him.

Okay folks! Predictions on AFC & NFC Champs, I got

AFC – Denver

NFC – Carolina

Now before you Steeler fans go off on me I would like to see the Steelers win it all. This is just my “If I had a gun to my head and had to make a pick” pick :D

Toby 2006-01-19 12:35 PM

Well, to have any chance in the Playoff Pool I need a couple of big games from Jake Plummer so I'll be rooting for Denver in the AFC.

Most everyone has else also has both Alexander and Smith, so the NFC doesn't make much difference to me.

Preacher 2006-01-19 01:06 PM

AFC - Steelers :D (it would be sacreligious for me to say otherwise)
NFC - Carolina

Defense seems to be getting teams to the big game the last few years, that's why I'd choose Carolina. But if the Steelers did make it to the Superbowl, I'm thinking they'd have an easier time with Seattle, so I'll probably be rooting for them.

Torn Rose 2006-01-19 02:27 PM

Let's see, I am already 0-3 in this year’s predictions.

(Colts over Falcons, Colts over Seahawks, Or if the Pats beat the Colts, the Pats win it all)

I think I am going with Carolina to win it all, I honestly don't have a favorite or a "hated team", I like all 4 for different reasons, so who ever wins it all I will be pleased.

I would love to see Bettis go out with a ring, I have been a fan of his since Notre Dame, I’m a big fan of Mike Shanahan, I love the city of Seattle and like Holmgren, and Carolina is such a “feel good” team and Steve Smith is amazing this year. But I think the Carolina Defense and the quick scoring offense lead by Jake “6-1 in playoffs” Delhomme will be too much to stop.

Trev 2006-01-19 02:54 PM

Seattle over Denver

bluemoney 2006-01-19 05:03 PM

I agree with Torn, I’d also like to see Bettis get a ring before the book is closed on his career. Kind of like the way I was glad to see Reggie White, Bret Favre & John Elway finish out with at least one.

Terrible thing to see guys like Dan Marino & Jim Kelly finish with great careers but no ring.

"Fan" sueing Davis for $1 million

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html

"...Axelrod's father, David, is a prominent Democratic political consultant in Chicago who has worked with Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley"

"...Axelrod's attorney, Jay Paul Deratany, said he planned to sue Davis and his wife for more than $1 million. Deratany said he was writing the papers Thursday for a battery suit against Kendra Davis and a slander case against Antonio Davis, and planned to file them Friday."

Not the guy who I thought it was in the video, but if you see him on HLN he is making this sound like Davis traumatized him so badly that he isn’t sure he can survive.

This better get thrown out, even if what he says is true, how the hell is that worth $1 million?

Mark me down for a prediction of Pitts vs Seattle for the Big One.

I like Randel El, but have no particular affinity for any of the remaining teams.

Denver will forever have a black mark with me because of Elway, so anyone but them winning would be okay to me.

I'll go with Pitts though.

Why does it seem it takes Denver 3 quarters to wake up and join the game? They may yet win the game, but they seem to have little or no interest until well past half time.

Preach on, Preach! We Steeler fans have been saying it for decades: "Offense may win games but DEFENSE wins CHAMPIONSHIPS!" I think the boy in Black & Gold will have an easier time with Carolina than with Seattle, although either way I think we will see another AFC Super Bowl. The NFC just isn't playing to the same standard (hoping like HELL I don't have to eat these words...LOL) The victory celebration has already started on my blog (and the "Steeler mania" made its appearance yesterday LOL) SUPER BOWL #6 for us!!!

PS-to give poor Denver their due, they really were trying from the opening kickoff. This is just the best game I've watched the Steelers play all season!

sue-fl 2006-01-22 10:38 PM

Congrats to the Pittsburgh and Seattle fans on the board! It's looking like it will be a great Superbowl!! |bananna|

Tougher than you can imagine.

I actually had to hire a stunt typist to make that post for me.

I couldn't bring myself to do it. :D

Greenguy 2006-01-23 09:47 AM

Fuck me! I went into yesterday hoping that Denver would win so that I could have an excuse to get a Plummer jersey for the big game. Since that fell thru, I decided that I'd get a Seattle jersey if they won. So about 1/2 way thru the 4th quarter I start to look for a Hasselbeck jersey. The Seahawks pro shop doesn't even sell them! NFL.com does not sell them! Sure, I can order a custom jersey, but that'd take 2-3 weeks. So I search Google & find some, but they are all odd sizes - either S or XXXL |banghead|

So now, Jurevicius is my favorite Seattle player :D

Torn Rose 2006-01-23 09:56 AM

whats wrong? think the XXXL will be too tight?

|loveyou

Greenguy 2006-01-23 10:46 AM

I love you too :)

Those NFL Replica's jersey's have fucked up sizes - I usually do wear an XL or XXL t-shirt, but the jersey's look like tents at that size. My Losman jersey is a L & that's just wonderful (except for the name on the back)

anasporn 2006-01-23 11:28 AM

Greenguy, think that's hard? Try finding a Troy Palomalu jersey LOL

Greenguy 2006-01-23 12:22 PM

anasporn - the Steelers store has a shitload of jerseys compared to Seattle's POS site:
http://secure2.steelers.com/catalog/ReplicaJersey/
but I see that they are already sold out of a lot of them :(

Yeah, unless I want a fucking PINK "ladies" jersey (who the hell plays in PINK?) or an authentic game jersey ($275!!! Who would wear a shirt that cost that much??). Hell, they are even out of youth sizes too...and still no steeler bra to go with either pair of my steeler panties :(

MeatPounder 2006-01-23 02:51 PM

Would this do for a
Steelers Bra?

Ron Artest to the Sacramento Kings for Peja Stojakovic

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2304512

Not bad IMHO, I think Miller from the Kings or Al Harrington from the Hawks would have been better, but at long last it is over and just maybe we can make the playoffs now.

Trev 2006-01-24 04:32 PM

That's not a bad trade considering the circumstances, and he's out of the eastern conference, too. I think they'll make the playoffs for sure now. Kudos to the Pacers.

Hmmm, I hope he doesn't play against the Cavs tonight....

Torn Rose 2006-01-24 09:27 PM

MOTHER FUCKING BITCH!

The Ron Artest saga continues. The Pacers tried to trade Artest for Peja Stojakovic on Tuesday, but ESPN's Jim Gray reports the deal collapsed after the Kings learned Artest didn't want to play in Sacramento
