Clueless newbie
 

I received a rejection email from Scorpio Links. At least someone bothered to say something this time. My submissions to Greenguy's link-o-rama have just been ignored.

The burning question is... why? To the best of my knowledge, my site (www.pussycatporn.com) has all the required elements. It's even been upgraded so that it has a couple of free hi-rez picture galleries to go along with the free tour. From what I've seen, it looks as good as most and even better than some of the sites that have been accepted. Go figure?? Just call me clueless in Florida. I didn't do the autosubmit thing either. I wouldn't even know how. I do each one carefully by hand.

Please let me know what the problem is and if there is anything I can do to correct it. I'm a newbie and want to learn how this business works. Please be honest... I can take it.

Hi Vicki,

Besides the Javascript on the tour and big pics in the galleries (104kB), it would probably be a good idea to either make a paysite or a freesite. Not a paysite with a freesite.
So make a freesite promoting the paysite instead :)

Thanks for the info. I infer from your reply that the pictures in the free galleries are too large and that you have a problem with javascript. I wish I could do something about those issues, but since this site was built for me (which cost a bundle), I don't have much control over those particular details.

Concerning paysite vs. freesite, I'm not sure I understand the difference. I thought my site was in essence a freesite because of the sample galleries. Are not all freesites on the web selling something? (i.e. If they have clickable pictures they're a freesite and if they don't they're a paysite) I've never seen a site that doesn't have a button somewhere to subscribe to their content.

I had to work hard to convince the web designer to add the pictures because of all the directories out there that want sites with free pictures. I had hoped that this upgrade would make my site more compatible with the requirements of more sites. Seems like I can't win for losing.

What do you think I should do?

What I mean is that http://www.pussycatporn.com/ is a paysite. I don't think it's a very good idea to put those 2 galleries on the paysite, to just try to make it into a free site too.

My suggestion is that you make a separate freesite, like http://www.pussycatporn.com/lickinglesbians/
On that site you have your 2 galleries and you promote your main paysite, http://www.pussycatporn.com/

If you do it that way, you can make unlimited amount of freesites
http://www.pussycatporn.com/uberlesbians/
http://www.pussycatporn.com/lesbiansinlove/
http://www.pussycatporn.com/newbierugmuncher/
....

Then your paysite is a paysite and you can focus on selling and have no limits on what you can do with it. Otherwise if you submit it as a free site (with those 2 galleries on it), you have to follow the rules at the LL's submit to.

What or who is LL's? If I knew that, I would know what rules you were referring to.

I don't think I can get my web designer to do anymore on the site, because I had to really twist his arm hard just to get him to add the galleries. The only reason I did that was because so many directories (including greenguy's link-o-rama) were ignoring my submissions. Also, after reading their listing rules, I thought that I was giving them what they wanted.

I really appreciate your help and suggestions. Is there a Porn Site for Dummies book out there somewhere?

Hope swedguy doesn't mind me stepping into his thread here to give you a quick answer, with the time zones I don't think he'll be here for another couple of hours yet.

Link Lists - you referred to them as directories. They sorta are, but a LL is what would list a freesite, a directory could be construed to list many different aspects of porn advertising pages/sites.

As for what swedguy is suggesting, and what everyone here would agree, is that you need to keep your paysite and your advertising sites/pages distinctly seperate. I'll use a board sponsor here as an example if I may.

Paysite: http://www.riskyvoyeur.com/
Freesite for LLs: http://fhg.riskyvoyeur.com/rv/real-voyeur/
Gallery for TGPs: http://www.riskyvoyeur.com/hosted/hv10/

So swedguy is looking for a freesite as per example 2 - the reason there are no recips on that example is because the sponsor has created that freesite explicitly for LL owners to use as an advertising tool. Take a look through swedguys list of freesites on his LL, and when you see one that has recips that is one almost certainly submitted by a builder such as yourself, so, the structure is the same, just that you need to add recips to the front page, and follow all the other rules.

As for the placement of the freesites you build, it should make things clearer when you read back over swedguys posting:
