Would anyone believe me if I said I picked UCLA, UF, GMU and LSU in the Final Four?
:D |potleaf| |
Have not seen this in writing, but ABC News said that ESPN had over 3 million people enter their "Final Four" contest where you fill out the brackets and win things.
Out of 3 million, there are only 4 picked LSU, Florida, GMU and UCLA. What the fuck was these people smoking that would make anyone pick a 11th seed who barley made it into the tourney? And to be honest I am shocked that there were 4 people lucky enough to pick this final 4, I really thought it would be 1 at the most. My picks are either George Mason or UCLA, I just hate the SEC. |
|
As much as I hate to say it . . . Congrats to the Gators and head coach Eddie Munster :D
|
Was that an ass whipping, or was that an ass whipping?
I said to a friend that if both teams played like that played Saturday night UCLA would win by 10; their D was just too tough... Geeze what was I smoking... |
3 blowouts? The 1st weekend was better than those one-sided fuckfests.

NBA Player Shot
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html
DENVER (AP) -- Julius Hodge of the Denver Nuggets was shot and wounded early Saturday, Adams County sheriff's deputies said. Hodge was struck several times in his lower body and has been taken to a hospital but his condition wasn't immediately available. |
|headbang| Congrats to Phil (Lefty) Mickelson on his second Masters win in two years.
This is a guy a few short years ago who was given up by some of the so called "experts" as having any shot at a major win much less the Masters. Another fine example of how success always finds those who keep going long after others believe the battle is over. |
Hey... nice thread here! :D I myself is an NBA fan... I love phoenix and mo idol is amare stoudemire... :D

AZ Cards close to finishing $450 million showplace
http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/ARI/9383819
The retractable roof is translucent, allowing in light even when it is closed, which it will be when temperatures hit triple-digits early in the coming season. The most intriguing feature, though, is the field itself. Made of natural grass, it will sit outside under the desert sun 340 days a year, Bidwill said. For games, it will slide into the stadium like a kitchen cutting board. "It's a tray. I call it a cake pan about three feet deep," Bidwill said, "a single unit that rolls into place in 45 minutes. It weighs about 17 million pounds and rolls on about 500 wheels on 13 rails." When the field is rolled outside, it leaves 152,000 square feet of space for conventions, trade shows or other events. _________ I found this very interesting and look forward to seeing this on tv soon, I also think the Cards are going to be legit contenders very soon. (as soon as they bench/drop Warner and his wife) |

I bet their new stadium seats wont shock their fans when they try and sit down....|shocking|

2006 NBA Playoffs
I say Pistons over Spurs in 5.
Pacers will get past the Cavs, but will get spanked by the Pistons and I look forward to the off season when the Pacers office gut this lifeless fucking shell of a team and get players who want to play in the NBA there. As one reporter has said, the only 3 pacers guaranteed to be back next year are Larry Bird, Donni Walsh and Rick Carlisle Jermain Oneal is too soft to play in the NBA, the pussy gets hurt putting his shoes on, Tinsley has had more then enough time and has not improved, Jackson has a shitty attitude, Peja wants more then the $8 million per year he is already getting and everyone else is just good enough to be a bench player. Fuck I miss Reggie, and Marc Jackson, and Rik Smits and the Davis’s and even Jalen Rose…. |cry

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/matchups Now I am not so sure Pacers will get past the first round, the Nets are pretty hot right now. damn...|banghead
I hate the Nets and I hope the Pacers give it their all and destroy them.
|
And the Cavs would have to beat, Washington, Detroit and then either Miami or Jersey to get out of the east. So....... ummm.... ahhh... well.... BronBron will at least get his feet wet in the playoffs.

They fired Pat Quinn yesterday here in Toronto. I personally feel that he had to go. He was so out of touch with the changes that the new NHL had experienced and his reluctance to play younger athletes was his ultimate undoing, I believe. |
Purdue coach Joe Tiller has seen enough over the past few months to convince him that Curtis Painter can be the school's next great signal-caller. The Purdue coaching staff likes his strong arm. They were pleasantly surprised with his decision-making while running the option. Tiller noted Painter is the strongest quarterback he has had in 10 seasons as coach.

NHL playoffs are just starting. Go Sens!! Should be some good series.

Favre to play '06 season for Packers
Brett Favre informed the Packers on Tuesday that he will definitely play the 2006 season in Green Bay, league and team sources have told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
Favre shared his decision with general manager Ted Thompson and head coach Mike McCarthy in a telephone conversation on Tuesday morning, the sources said. Neither Favre, Thompson nor McCarthy was available for immediate comment. Bus Cook, Favre's agent, did not return phone inquiries. Favre has said previously that if he decides to play in 2006 it will be his final season in the NFL. |bananna
Williams suspended one year
Dolphins halfback Ricky Williams lost his appeal with the NFL for violating the substance abuse policy and will be ineligible for the 2006 season.

Good for Ricky! All this really means to me is that there will be one more full time RB in the draft |thumb

Legendary broadcaster Keith Jackson to retire
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2423674
"This is the perfect time," Jackson told the newspaper. "I don't want to get back into the pressure cooker of play-by-play and worry about travel. I don't want to die in a stadium parking lot." |bow| Keith Jackson |
Worst call I've seen in years just happened. I've been channel hopping between Buffalo/Philly and Carolina/Montreal and Carolina just scored. The ref beside the net is waving goal, goal. Then all of a sudden the second referee from outside the blueline...yes outside of the blueline comes in and waves it off. Apparantly he is saying there was "incidental" contact with the goalie.
Worst call in years. That is terrible. If there is contact with the goalie, call a penalty. If there isn't then it's a goal. And there was contact with the goalie BECAUSE 3 Montreal players were there with only 1 Carolina player throwing him around as he found the puck and put it in. It was a goal. Terrible. :( So now to the other hockey games. Colorado can sweep Dallas tonight. Sweep? Wow! It is amazing how a fantastic year (Dallas finished 2nd in the conference) can be wiped out in 4 short hockey games. LOL Go Calgary! Go Buffalo! |
Never bet against the Avs ;)

Texans sign DE Williams with No. 1 pick
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html
The Houston Texans got the NFL Draft off to a stunning start a day earlier, bypassing Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush and instead signing defensive end Mario Williams with the No. 1 pick Friday night. ________________________________ I like it... |thumb |
WoW, they've been saying they wanted Williams all week.
Should cause some bouncing throughout the draft tomorrow. I thought it would be a wild one anyways with so much talent in it. |

Titans should have taken Cutler IMHO.

Who would have ever thought that the Steelers would get the top rated receiver in the draft?! Mind you they said receivers were a weak class this year, but still!

The man accused of throwing the cup that sparked a 2004 brawl between the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons fans was sentenced Monday to 30 days in jail on an assault and battery charge. John Green also was sentenced to two years' probation. The 41-year-old Green was convicted in March of one count of assault and battery for punching former Pacers player Ron Artest during the brawl at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Green was found not guilty of a second count of throwing the cup before Artest charged into the stands. Judge Lisa Asadoorian ordered Green to attend anger management classes and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and stay away from the Palace while he is on probation. |
I'm in shock. Detroit, the best team in the NHL and the number 1 seed in the west just lost to the 8th seed Edmonton Oilers (which is there first series win in 8 years actually). That puts a serious dent in my hockey pool. Good thing I didn't have any Dallas players (the #2 seed) as they lost too.
Good news is another Canadian team advances and one will make the conference finals if Calgary wins tonight. Calgary is now the top seed in the west and will play Edmonton in the next round if they get by Anaheim. |
