This morning an email in my inbox told me you had rejected http://www.pussyfuckstories.com/ftv-violet1/index.html because there were too few links to lists onit. OK, I'm new - I was putting a link up then submitting to the list. Link'ORama was fist. Oops!

So I've put all the links up and submitted to all the lists, which I tried re-doing at Link'ORama. Your script is not finding your link or my page. It reports a 400 group error - 404, I think.

Is there a fix?

That normally happens when the script can find your site it could be a router issue. But besides thats you need to clean up your receipt table they are all off center and looks like some of the coding on the links are all messed up as well.

Thanks, MML. Forgot to check them in that wreck called IE. They looked great in FF2 and various other standards compliant browsers. They look a lot better in IE now, but not so good as they were in anything decent and I can't get your lime green back! |huh

Well, I'm back again with free sites after few years, so please can you check if everything is ok...

That's absurd. We must have a different definition of what a free site is. I thought it was a site that, well, free. I do not charge for anything on my site, and do not even require a log in for anything other than mundane stuff like comments.

I don't mind being rejected, but the stated reason makes no sense.

It would not be absurd if you read the rules or the page with rejection reasons that was in the email, because then you'd know what my (and most other) Link Lists consider a "free site" to be.

Actually, I think that contributes to the absurd factor. I read your rules page. Since you brought it up, I read it a second time. It seems like I am within the rules listed, unless there are hidden rules not covered by that page.

It's not that big of a deal either way. I can live without the link. I just wish the reason for rejection was one that at least made some kind of sense.

No error message to say otherwise so I assume your submission script is now finding http://www.pussyfuckstories.com/ftv-violet1/index.html but it says there's no link there. It's a straight copy and paste from your approved links, and it works when I click on it.

The recips table looks a lot better in IE6&7 now - haven't tested it in IE5 - although in a couple of them the text is spreading for a reason I haven't yet fathomed. I'll keep working at it.

So, out of at least ten attempts, your script has worked once so far, on about the fourth attempt when I first submitted. It may be the transatlantic cable, which I have always found to be flaky. Does anyone else experience the same amount of false errors?

Did you read the 1st rule?
1. I only list Free Sites (warning page leads to main page leads to gallery pages) No galleries, no pay sites, no avs sites.

Let me ask you this: did you even bother to look at some of the free sites that I have listed?

I show that was submitted at 16:11:34 on 8 Jan 2008 & rejected at 07:12:53 on 9 Jan 2008 (EST) I think it was because of the Site Title that you submitted: ftv-violet1 (I assume that the site title is actually: Violet Experiments with Vegetables and Water)

As far as the submit problems & the recip code, I looked at the coding you have on the page & it is very different from the coding I have on my recip page (I don't use the style or word-spacing tags)

Of course. Mostly out of being curious about how people are monetizing their sites and what kind of layouts they are using. I only went to 4 though because I couldn't handle much more of the green on black. I totally get why you like the color combination, but it just doesn't agree with my eyes.

It sounds like you're mostly just wanting me to put you on the main warning page for the entire site. I guess that's my loss, because I like that page to look neat and tidy, and won't clutter it up.

Maybe one day I'll create a junk site with 2 photo sets like everyone else does, but that's just too much bother for one link. I'd rather focus more on giving more content to the people who are coming in.

It was sent to you in your rejection email but my guess would be your site title doesn't match the submit title. Since you have not title on the index page at all. Also you whois information looks not to be complete :(

Thanks for taking the trouble. I think I'm getting the hang of it now. Most of the problems must be my end, 'cos a lot of lists' scripts aren't reading or even finding the sites to start with. No problems with browsers, though.

On the code, my stylesheet was breaking several of the supplied link formats from list providers so I've redone a few in CSS. I've kept them as near to looking like those supplied as possible and the links are intact. The code for Link O'Rama links is now in a stylesheet for permanent use, so the category gets entered by hand form now.

Anyway, my first two sites in this biz are now listed and the help and patience received here is very much appreciated.

I have read over them again (especially number 1), we have a site with the warning page, entrance galleries clearly located below, and 300+ pics. I am not trying to be rude or smart (we are new to this, so please be forgiving), but I still don't understand why you don't consider it a free site?

Surf the L-O-R and see what's listed on any category page. The definition of free site for most link lists is a warning page, a main page (with links to the galleries) and usually 2 or 3 gallery pages. Most free sites have around 24 pics on two galleries -or- 120 seconds of movie clips on two galleries. Also, most free sites won't give away more than those 24 pics or 120 seconds of clips. Their entire purpose is it push traffic towards a paysite, not become the place for the surfer to relieve himself.

I get the impression what I would need to do, if you are still accepting story sites, is to pull a sample of a dozen or so stories, make them public (and pretty), set up a proper entry page and have it drive to the forum proper?

Or is the Otherlists what cases like ours are for?
