Over zealous rules?

Can anyone spot the major rule breaking that got this site refused?

swedguy 2004-10-22 01:33 PM

Site doesn't fit on 800x600

Edit: Index + Gallery 1 doesn't fit on 800x600

physio 2004-10-22 01:34 PM

I would say the "ENTER" on the banner that is right on the warning page...but what do I know :D

stuveltje 2004-10-22 01:38 PM

i would say the 800x600 rule and maybe the same template..

Rayzor 2004-10-22 01:42 PM

Oh Sh*t, I've opened myself up for a massive site bashing!!

It was the use of the word "Enter" on the banner at the top.

Am i being too insensitive or does stuff like that really matter?

Cleo 2004-10-22 01:46 PM

The HPA on the main page has what some would say look like clickable thumbs.

Rayzor 2004-10-22 02:08 PM

Cleo, Are you serious?

Would you reject it for that?

Yes she would...I have been rejected for it|sad|

I have learned that it is really best to follow ever rule each LL has and just chalk it upto learning if I get rejected. All the rules matter to the reviewers.

It takes a little time to figure out what all the rules are, but once you get them right, life will be much easier for you.

Might want to add 2257 info on each page as some reject for lack of this info, and some LLs might not list you because of the other LL links you have in your recip table.

Just what Ive learned through my own trials of trying to get listed so I hope it helps

Cheers

DangerDave 2004-10-22 09:18 PM

It is all really quite simple...

Get it in your heads now...

DONT use banners with ENTER on them

DONT use HPAs with "simulated" clickable thumbs.

You immediately negate the possibility of being rejected for those two rules.

msanchez, who rejects for 2257 info or lack thereof?

DD

JR 2004-10-22 09:30 PM

I don't understant that small enter problem on that banner. I understand if it was huge and blinking. I don't think people are that quick to click it without looking at the rest of the page first, but thats just my opinion.

Also its kinda hard when setting up your site because the sponsors provide all the banner you use so what can you do about it.

I have been declined a few times when I didnt have 2257 on my sites, it was awhile ago, but I specificlly rember Cleo wanted one, but maybe thats changed, I have 2257 on all my stuff so I havent had any problems anymore.

There were a couple more LLs too but I cant remeber off the top of my head who anymore, since I have added 2257 info there hasnt been a problem.

Cheers

Wrong, I have never asked for a 2257 link. In fact I've told people not to put a linked one on their sites if they insist on putting one at all.

I'll list you either way but if you do link to a 2257 page then it needs to be a real 2257 page and nothing else.

Unfortunately if your just a submitter like me it doesnt matter what we have for opinions, what matters is the LL rules.

Dont use banners use text. I went through the same issue, and just use the LL acceptable banners with text, or just text alone.

No thumb like pics and no enter here text.

Again this is just what I have experienced, Im no expert, but I hope it helps

Cheers

msanchez 2004-10-23 07:51 AM

Oh yeah i smoke weed so I could not rember anything right lmao

msanchez 2004-10-30 11:25 PM

I dunno if this is still on anyones mind but mine, but here is something I found regardless in reply to DangerDave asking about which LLs want 2257 info on site

XXX Porntastic and Pervlist are 2 that I see have 2257 requirement in submit rules.

Dunno if it is enforced, but the rule is there.

Im looking at it right now at xxxporntastic so i think Im a little bit more accurate this post lol|jester|

Cheers

Well then, I'd suggest you give those particular lists what they want.

This is going to sound smug and condescending, but I don't know another way to state it. If you can't follow the simple rules imposed by link lists, don't submit. What is the point in even attempting to argue with the rules? Do you argue with a cop who pulls you over for DWI by telling him that you think that law stinks?

As far as I can see, he's not arguing. He's just stating facts.

And the "then don't submit, it's that simple", we all know that and that phrase is getting old.
But isn't it pretty good to discuss certain rules instead of just be quiet about it and not submit?
If no one says anything about certain rules, lots of people will sit at home and just be pissed at the LL owners for having certain rules. If people bring it up for discussion, submitters and other LL owner will understand the reasoning behind that particular LL owners decision to have it in his rules.

Cleo 2004-10-31 05:07 PM

New rule…

You must have your left elbow in your right ear while submitting .

amadman 2004-10-31 05:43 PM

Almost all rules start because of some kind of abuse.

For me the rule is meant to stop the people who put
on multiple entrances. With one real one and a fake
one that goes to a sponsor. It is simply confusing and
misleading to the surfer. Which is bad for a linklist to do.

With the banners that don't seem that bad. Well...
It is just easier to say none at all and not leave
anything up for debate. Especially if you have
others doing reviews for you.

As far as the little submitter not having a say
Remember that almost all linklist owners are
also submitters that have to abide by these
same rules when they submit to others.

Sean416 2004-10-31 07:22 PM

lol@cleo and I agree with swedguy, these kind of conversations bring the LL owners and submitters closer. We all work together in the same industry and this kind of conversation is need. |shake|

I learned this the hard way too.

Now I just mod a banner quickly to state 'click here' instead of enter if I want to use it on the index page. It's no biggie.

But that's one of my favorites.:D

I agree with you in concept. It is healthy to discuss and learn why certain rules have been imposed, but some just want to beat a dead horse. I can tell my wife all day long that I want more sex, but that isn't going to get me laid. Trust me, I've been trying.

I can't comment on the rules of the smaller link lists, since I only submit to handful of the large ones, but the rules I see all seem pretty damn fair and it has never ocurred to me to to refer to them as 'over zealous'. Now, if Cleo decided to impose her left elbow on right ear rule, you'd see me here bitching, cause I tried. I can't do it.

If people are horribly troubled with today's rules, just wait until next year when we have to give a DNA sample with every submit.

Danger Dave wasasking which LLs want 2257 info so I posted which ones I seen that wanted 2257. Not complaining just replying to Daves question.

Not me, I could barely stand up, I just told him to take me to jail. |bananna|
