Newbie here...TGP or Turnkey Business...which one?

First off very nice site with lots of info. My side business is buying/selling domain names (see sig) and now looking for my next venture which is the Adult Industry.

Im thinking of 2 ways to go...

1. Is a tgp site with links that PPC and other ways of revenue. Sites that come to mind are like
spermshack.com, miasmovies.com, cliphunter.com etc

2.Or goin through www.sexualcandy.com and there turnkey program.

Now my MAIN problem is I dont know a lick of HTML so if I did a TGP site I could not build it let alone add a link |huh

So from the experts here HONEST which way is a good way to go for someone like me?

Thanx for any and all help.

learn basic html skills, or find someone to do all your work for you before you do anything else

Xallow 2007-03-26 11:25 PM

Definately You need to learn some basic html skills, and I would recommend css aswell, css makes things easier and cleaner but it isn't a must. or as Oldbrad said, hire someone to do it all for You :)

DrDomain 2007-03-26 11:35 PM

I would not mind hiring someone if i KNEW they were trust worthy and could always add the links and shit for me....

However though you fellas did not advise if TGP or the Turnkey was the way to go. Since your saying learn HTML are you suggesting TGP??

With the turnkey they handle it all for you...

Xallow 2007-03-26 11:44 PM

I know nothing about turnkey sites, but if someone else is handling everything for you there is a catch somewhere, there always is, and no, I am not saying go with a tgp, but a tgp or link list You control everything 100%, not sure about that on a turnkey site

DrDomain 2007-03-26 11:48 PM

Ok....yea there is a catch with the turnkey.....they take 10% of every sale that comes through HOWEVER they claim a 2 year GUARNTEE on what you will make in a contract format.

Im new so of course it sounds good but im sure the catch is more then a 10% take on sales.

On the TGP sites that i go to....everytime I click a pick then it goes to the little 15-20 sec MPG clip and I click on that, is the webmaster getting paid for both of my clicks...just the movie click or neither?

Sorry for so many questions its just I really want to get into it and dont care of niche as im open minded to all freaks |waves|

Neither. He only gets paid if you join the paysite after clicking on his ad.

Honestly, unless you have a ton of capital to throw at this, you're not going to make any money getting into the game and hiring a programmer to build stuff for you. In fact, this isn't really a business where capital means a whole bunch.

I guess if you had like $10k+ you could start-up a paysite for yourself. Hire a designer, php programmer purchase content and whatnot. But who knows, maybe someone here knows something I don't. |badidea|

Or do what he said. :D

As Old Brad says, learn basic HTML skills. Its surprisingly easy. You can learn the basics in a weekend and there's tons of tutorials online. Just do a Google search. I originally used Page Tutor at http://www.pagetutor.com/html_tutor/index.html
and there's plenty of others.

In case you haven't done a board search yet for turnkey sites, here's one thread you really don't want to miss.

Greenguy 2007-03-27 08:43 AM

I wouldn't take a turnkey site if it was given to me for free.

Learn some basic html, build a gallery or 2, submit them to a couple of TGP's & go from there.

Useless 2007-03-27 08:54 AM

Don't listen to these naysayers.

Turnkeys are the perfect solution to GET RICH QUICK! For only a few thousand dollars, you can be told that you own something. |thumb

Ramster 2007-03-27 09:16 AM

Absolutly under NO circumstances buy a Turnkey site. TOTAL RIPOFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now other than that a tgp is not a good idea neither. You need to learn this end of the business a bit. Building something is great but there are literally 1000's of TGPs and likely as many pay sites. Building is a good idea but once you learn a few things. The main thing being how to get traffic to them. Without traffic you have no chance of making money.

I run tgps and paysites and I can say without a doubt you have to learn how to build, how to get traffic and build up a knowledge of the business first. Make friends, learn and go from there.

DrDomain 2007-03-27 09:50 AM

Well hands down looks like i got to learn html |jester|

I do thank you all for the help and also saving me money as well!

LowryBigwood 2007-03-27 11:16 AM

LOL Useless... You crack me up. :D

You received some good advice, stay away from the turnkey shit. Also, I am really wondering how they can guarantee how much money you will make in 2 years. I am 99.9% certain that is impossible to do in this business.

You have some options:
Tgp site (don't think I'd start there - see Ramsters reply)
Linklists (probably would not start there either)
Freesites and / or galleries (probably where I would start my learning / building process).
Blogging (this might be a very good choice to start with while you are learning html as it's not required to blog) Check out the blogging forum section here. :)

HTML is really easy to learn as stated, just put in a weekend and learn the basics first. In my opinion you do not need to learn CSS right now, just html first. I still don't know css (but I do use it) and i'm not planning on learning it either. Although it is useful to know I'm sure.

Best of luck to you. :)

Hey DrDomain,

You've already got lots of great advice here but before you jump in, do a lot or reading. Read back through the archives of the newbie board. Get to know as much as you can about what you're getting involved in and have at least a basic plan. You can make adjustments as you move forward and learn new things.

You said you buy and sell domains...Do you already have adult domains with traffic? If you have a source of adult traffic and it's niche specific, start by targeting that niche as you build.

Anyway, good luck to you and remember to read and not be afraid to ask a question.

Regards,
SF

DrDomain 2007-03-27 11:19 PM

OK..What i though over night instead of just doing a seperate TGP style site, I would make a adult domain site.

I would make it where I sell my own adult domain names listed under each niche then when they click on the niche it shows the domains for sale as well as gallery pics and links to adult sites that PPC.

Does this sound good for starters? I figure I could kill 2 birds with one stone. Sell domains AND still provide pics and links that PPC |badidea|

Smutferret 2007-03-28 01:16 AM

Umm...You could just park your domains at Sedo if all you want to do is collect ppc and try and sell them...

Regards,
SF

DrDomain 2007-03-28 08:36 AM

All my domains are at Sedo...they pay shit for clicks....Hindusex.in get slots of clicks and they pay cents....

The site I was thinking to make would not be "parked" but an actual sales site for my adult domains for sale w/o auction and at the same time adult pics and links.

Im i read correct MOST money in the industry comes from sign ups is that correct?

Ramster 2007-03-28 09:50 AM

FYI, I don't think there are any companies that PPC in adult now.

ronnie 2007-03-30 03:42 PM

It's obvious you did'nt research Sexual Candy.

DrDomain 2007-04-01 02:58 PM

RONNIE: Thats where the idea for a turnkey came up...they are the ones with the gurantee...

I think I got that figured out. Your not getting my point. As in, uummm maybe research them before you think about giving them money?

DrDomain 2007-04-02 10:22 AM

Ronnie: Got yea, from the above post i dont need to reserach them anymore...not even goin to bother with a turnkey |waves|
