Sales from Free Sites

Hi All

I'm not a noob to the industry but I am to Free Site building, so I guess this is the most appropriate forum to post this question.

On average, how many sales would you get from a single free site?
(yes I know that there are many, many variables in terms of traffic amount, traffic quality, posting to various link lists, niches, etc.)

I realize that I'm just starting out building freesites, so it will take a while to build momentum, linked hubs, etc. so my experience will be totally different from an experienced FS building who has been doing this for years. But the reason I posted is just the get an idea of the future of the FS that I'm building.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Red Raven

I get less than 1 sale per freesite (thats an estimation, because some sites give me 0 sales and others 5)

From my off and on free site building/submitting experience, that estimation is dead-on-balls-accurate. I have free sites that are about 2 years-old which have never produced a single (FUCKING) sale. Whether that be due to my lack of knowledge in a particular niche or certain sponsors forgetting to turn their (FUCKING) shave off - I don't know, but I have other free sites that have produced multiple sales over that same time period.

Sometimes a free site will make a sale during the initial rush of traffic, sometimes not until it gets direct SE traffic, and sometimes not at all. That's the beauty of the game. You really need to keep building and submitting continuously to make a decent buck from it. Or you can be like me and give up that nonsense altogether and sit around with your fingers crossed hoping that your spouse won't force you back into the (FUCKING) labor market. So far, so (FUCKING) good. |headbang|

I stopped building free sites like a year ago but still see a sale here and there from those old ones. You can never tell you've done with some until you really take it down :D
And that old rule "build, submit and forget" really works :D

IF and WHEN you figured out the right sponsors, niches and sales text, I'd say you can make 1-2 sales from a freesite. It does take a while to get there though.

KG Gary 2008-07-12 06:37 AM

A year ago I would of said 3-4, now it's probably 1-2.
It's correct that some freesites give zero sales and some give five or even more. You simply can't tell until you get them out there.

Maybe my freesite building is getting stale and rusty, I don't know, but sales are slumping.
Lately I've taken a step back to kind of rethink a few things.....and I've come up with a formula that might just work - keep on building and submitting!
I'm a genius, I know.

Damn, I would LOVE to get 1 sale per freesite. My click-thru is good, I think. I mean I'm getting traffic to the sponsors...but nobody's buying.

Ditto! This is a tough business these days and you have to be willing to stick it out for the long haul if you expect to see any kind of profit.

by my experience i can say that more sales come from SE traffic and not from the LL's, but if you are not listed at good LL's you'll never get SE traffic....

In that point building duplicate free sites with different content (like tgp galleries) will probably lead you nowhere.

As for how many sales per site... you may submit one and make a sale form it months or even year later (the day before yesterday i had 2 sales from site built in 2005)

to sum up. Keep building. period. You have to. Get more domains, make more sites... It's a game of numbers. And the more little webs ya have out there the more chance you have to catch the flies.

free site is "free"
what does that word mean????

it's free

why do people want to sign up for a paysite while there is free shit out there???

free site isn't worth it
but you can generate money from ppc ads

don't even think about getting sales from sign up
no one will sign up from your site because you often free stuff
which thats y
the adult business is going to the dogs

so many free sites out there ...
free tube sites is killing the regular adult webmasters

It's not worth it to someone who doesn't know how to sell.

You can make a very good money with freesites if you know what you're doing!

I agree. I estimate 1-2 sales per free site, but some do take years to make anything. I think its important to choose your sponsors carefully. Some convert well, some not at all.

A few months ago I took a break from Free Site building - the result - my income dipped, although I still made sales from existing FS. Now I've re-started building and the sales are picking up.

To repeat what's already been said, just get your head down and build, build, build.

I - like others - get an average of just over 1 sale per Freesite - some Freesites do very well and others never make a sale. I'm always going back and looking at why.

First, IMO you need you need to get the surfer to click on your link at the many LL's you submit to - for this, I find that a catchy title and description work best.

Second: the title and description had better be relevant and accurate - or you loose the surfer as soon as you get them.

Third: Good add text and or unique banners on the entrance and main pages

Fourth: Unique content on the gallery pages of the Freesite with at least one add that features the model on the Freesite.

Fifth: The model featured on the banner and/or the Freesite should appear somewhere on the tour. (Note - I've been shortening my tours a bit to very targeted tours of the featured model then on to the buy page with good initial results.)

When I follow these rules - I'm averaging almost 2 sales per Freesite

Good question but here's what I think.

I think a freesite should be seen as an advertisement? You tease the surfer and make them want to see more and sign up for the paysite. The goal is to not cram a bunch of content on a free site but to tease the surfer enough to want to sign up. A freesite is “free” but it’s just a means to an end and the surfer is hoping to get the good stuff when he signs up for the paysite.

Probably your best bet at making some sales off freesites is to build up a network of sites rather than just having a few floating around , but I usually see anywhere between 0 and 2 sales off of some of my freesites .

That's a crock! Tube sites like every other new format is just a change in traffic movement, TGPs didn't kill us, MGPs didn't kills us, Review sites didn't kill us, [insert new format here] wont' kill us...

As many have already said... do the job well and you will make a few $$

Listening to bogans that have no idea.. is just a waste of bandwidth..

That's why we love you DangerDave - |thumb

I make pretty decent money from my Freesites - and if someone can't figure out why people buy memberships - I'm guessing they'll have a hell of a time selling them. But that just leaves less competition for Sy and I |bananna|

Do you track your sales from free sites or is it just that you get sales to the sponsor you were promoting?

Both.

To the original question:

Right now, I'm at about 1 sale for every 3 freesites. However, when I used to spend 4-5x as much time building and submitting each freesite I had about 1 sale for every 2 freesites.

bDok is right, it's a numbers game.

I only build FS's for my own program and I can easily track from inside the ccbill program console as long as I assign an affiliate code.

Beaver Bob 2008-07-14 04:26 AM

I should submit some free sites again.. I have some that still make sales months/years later. but its that whole only 24 hours in a day thing that gets me.

i'd say my sites average 1-2 sales each. quite a few never made any, and quite a few made 4 or 5.

maybe you are right, I might be 90% wrong

I guess it has to depend on how much work you put into your site
and how you promote your site (in a unique way)

It took just over 72 hours for you to go from hating tube sites to endorsing them:
