Ahhh crap, CE is dropping Homegrown Video.

The only CE property that ever really sold well for me!

Well, I guess I won't be getting any nice CE christmas present this year. And now I've got to figure out where the hell I've got CE homegrownvideo links and decide what to do with them.

Just got this email.

------------
Webmaster Notice: Homegrownvideo.com Termination

Please be advised that CEcash (Trade News Corporation, N.V.) has decided that it will no longer promote the
www.homegrownvideo.com website and that effective immediately it is terminating its marketing relationship
with homegrownvideo (TM). As a CEcash affiliate and pursuant to paragraph 3 of the affiliate agreement between
you and CEcash you must therefore immediately remove all CEcash 'homegrown' program materials, including any
banners and text links that advertise the homegownvideo.com website via any CEcash affiliate program.

Cleo 2004-06-28 07:51 PM

Maybe they will have their own affiliate program?

Bill 2004-06-28 08:02 PM

They do, but it doesn't payout as well.

CE used to load a hellacious number of popups on top, and paid out up to $20 per active more.

I gather there's been bad blood between them for a while.

This is just what I wanted to be doing with my copius free time, switching out links again. And I have to see if I'm still an active HGV affiliate, I'd been using CE for them for years. I may just sign up again.

Surfn 2004-06-28 08:17 PM

Changing out links stinks|pissed|

I just finished changing out 4,000+ because the sponsor changed their links. |sad|

There was a lawsuit between the the two parties. I don't remember the full details of it nor do I have a URL, but I'll see if I canfind it.

Bill 2004-06-28 09:45 PM

Ha ha, when you try to get into a homegrowncash account, it still takes you to the CE coolwebstats page....

In fact, I can't see any sign of the old program that HGV used to run- all the promo on the homegrowncash pages looks to be about the CE programs.

I guess I need to wait a day untill HGV catches up with itself.

Far-L 2004-06-29 12:01 AM

LOL

Funny that I have to hear about this first from our affiliates.

We thank everyone for their support, and I personally apologize for any inconveniences this causes affiliates.

More info coming soon.

Bill 2004-06-29 12:32 PM

Whoa, sorry to hear that Far-L.

HGV has always sold pretty well for me. Start up your own program as quick as you can, and keep us informed.

Hey, and start selling picture content so I can build more free sites for you.

It's funny, I signed up to sell HGV long before I signed up to sell any other CE properties, directly thru homegrowncash, but after investigating homegrowncash more I guess it was always under the CE program, and that you never had a program of your own, like I thought you did. Whatever I first signed up for paid out something like $35 per active, but CE had the follow-me option that paid out $55 per active, and I switched most of my links to that.

It's interesting how CE demands we "immediately" stop using CE HGV adverts and links. I wonder what happens if you don't "Immediately" remove the links?

Thanks for the support! I cannot speak for what CE has done, is doing, or will do if you keep sending traffic. I suggest you contact Mike B about that so you don't endanger your income if you stay with CE.

Seeing as I'm on the fence with this, I won't make any comments for or against anyone.

But I will say that I will of course get an account with HomeGrown once they open up their own program (and my fingers are crossed that it'll be soon)

Far-L - how come we only see you when there's bad news? :D

Sorry to seem like a bringer of bad tidings... I guess life has been a tad crazy lately...

Thanks for the kind nod!

Time to get phpadnew and you could swap out all those links in minutes! Went with this after ARS went under!

Just sent you a PM.

Cheers!

This matter is currently before the courts and therefore CECASH will make only a very limited statement. The termination of the CECASH affiliate program for homegrownvideo.com is precipitated by the actions of Homegrownvideo in repudiating its agreements and filing a lawsuit against Trade News, the owner of CECASH. The reaction of the representatives of Homegrown on this board are remarkable and in our opinion reflective of the disingenuous character and tenure of their lawsuit given the fact that Homegrown is seeking in its own court documents to prevent CECASH from "...marketing...or issuing passwords for access to the www.homegrownvideo.com site..." The actions of CECASH in terminating the affiliate program are therefore directly in line with the Homegrownvideo's own wishes and actions.

Jim 2004-06-30 07:05 AM

Thanks for stopping by Mike :)
I wish you could tell us a little more but I do understand why you can't.

Of course we are happy that they took it down. It is just that they wouldn't and then all of sudden they did... but without notifying us first which really would've been more appropriate and ethical given the current circumstances.

oh well...

Par for the course...

Bill 2004-08-03 05:23 PM

So, Far-L, will Homegrown Video homegrownvideo.com (food for the tracker) ever be offering an affiliate program again, or should I just write you off?

amber438 2004-08-03 08:06 PM

is the affiliate program viable yet?

Bill 2004-08-04 01:42 PM

I haven't heard a peep from homegrownvideo since CE dropped them a month plus ago, amber.

I'd like to see them start a new affiliate program.

But, with the legal dispute still going on, they may not be able to do anything.

Sooner or later I'll have to replace them permanently with some other sponsor. I'd rather not, but money is money.

40 days is like half a year in net time, plenty of time to set up an affilate program if they plan on doing so.

Yes Sir I can, can you give me til the end of the day to catch up and I'll be back here?

Carol 2004-08-04 08:28 PM

Hi Again,

HomeGrown is accepting traffic, however at this point it is very selective. I am happy to help anyone interested and plan on speaking to each Webmaster already sending traffic by the end of the week. If you are interested in signing up for an account to send traffic drop me an email and we can discuss all the necessary details.

We are in the process of changing a few things, however I am always willing to keep you all updated and I am always available. Email, AIM, ICQ, MSN whatever you prefer. My messenger also goes to my phone in some cases, if you see the icon, do not hesitate.

Carol
