We’re thinking of making an affiliate network for traffic traders. We have a system that can generate frontpage sales from linklists, TGP/MGPs etc

If you’re linking/trading with other galleries/lists etc, and they pull a sale from their pages, you’ll see $$, as it gets accumulated into a reserve fund. It’s affiliation without the integration and referrer scripts (centrally administered). Trade with others, and if they sell, everyone collects. Make sense?

Sounds like you're putting everyone on the doll. You are going to divy out equal shares of the earnings pool to all traffic trading members? That's what mutual based insurance companies do if they make a profit. They send a small portion to all of those they insure.

Something like what you are proposing really needs a much more indepth explanation than what you've stated thus far.

It would be done proportionally. If site A has contributed 5% of the combined sales, he walks with 5% of the reserve. If site B has contributed, he receives 0% for the period

Now I'm confused. I'm not trying to be argumentative, just attempting to get a handle on this theory. If I make 10% of the pool's sales, I get that 10% of the pool back. Where's the profit? I'm doing the math in my head, which is a mistake anyway, but I'm not seing dollar signs. Do you have any good numerical examples for those of us who are statistically impaired?

Let's say that Tommy & I send each other 1000 hits a day. If someone I sent him makes a sale thru his code, I'd get a cut of that? And vice versa?

The referring tgp sends a sale to the site owner. The site owner has registered with us as an account open for affiliation, so they carve off a share to the referring tgp. This is the first pay stream for you. Clixo also carves off a portion of its charges, to go into a collective traffic trading reserve fund. which means you have a second pay stream (this time from clixo) for the same sale. We do this to (1) encourage growth of traffic to the sales opportunities, and (2) to monetise the traffic trades between tgp/mgps etc

I'm getting down with some modelling on this. Keep any thoughts/comments coming, as I think we're pretty close to making it stable

We wouldn't interfere with any setup already in place, it would all be administered centrally across our billing platform.

Let say I'am your top sales referer, I make 10 sales per day, $30 per sales that os $300

Now you have another webmaster sending 1 sale per day, $30

So that second webmaster will get 10% of webmaster 1 (apart from his $30) because he is able to generate 10% of top webmaster

OK, here's my illustration. Two gallery owners sign up to a new program. The gallery owner that refers a sale, gets a payment as standard. At the same time, Clixo (us) drops some additional cash into a fund that both of our gallery owners can share equally (as long as they have generated a minimum level of sales per month, let's say one for example). So all webmasters that have signed up to it, will in fact get paid twice that month, providing they have made a sale. If no sale, no slice of the pie.

In effect, a simple way to generate some cash from trading traffic with other affiliated webmasters - eventually, somebody's going to make sales, and if there's enough trading taking place, hopefully everyone will score.

This comes directly from our own margins. As a business, we are commited to finding new ways of growing new markets and communities, so if it takes some investment directly from our own topline, we regard it as an investment.

So this is an affiliate program that you're opening that will have this little feature built into it?

Yes, but only if potentail affiliates think it's useful. If it's just stupid, or a pain in the ass, then I guess we'll stick with the way we are already. I honestly thought it might be a cool way to give some commercial value to the trades that already take place - I fully appreciate that everybody scratches everybody elses back to keep traffic moving, and hopefully, buying - but with this, I though, maybe we could share a little something extra for everybody just showing up and doing their great work.

Would the links that I use to trade with Tommy (using my example from above once again) have to be changed to some sort of tracking code?

If so, that'd be one downside for me, seeing as I like to use & receive hard links instead of things that go thru scripts & counters & whatnot.

We know who's signed up as part of the 'syndicate', and who's managed to make a sale, then the database does all the heavy work.

GG, "affiliate network for traffic traders" is not a new idea... I trade with a few TRUSTED guys and make nice money from trades. Lots of Bookmarks too....

The problem is when you use a program to control things...

Well, if you're not tracking the trades via a script, how do you know that a surfer I sent Tommy made a sale thru him & thus I get credit?

newdom I have an idea that might work for you and with no so many complication, just do this:

create your normal sponsors with the sites and all the stuff. Then you add something like a jackpot, but this jackpot will be distributed based on webmaster sales ranking, and that's it, very simple and webmaster will have interest in getting in first position to get the big part of the jackpot
