The image header of the index page is 160KB, but we like it and we decided to split it into small squares, so now it's like somekind of effect, loading squares one by one.

Nice site, but as that header earns you no $ and really is just window dressing... it's too big...

I would've thought that the header could be less than 160K? Did you reduce the nuber of colours used ? or try saving it as a GIF?

Post the full image(or PSD) if ya like.. we could probably make it smaller:)

DD :) thanks for the suggestion, but this is the best possible way to keep the quality. As JPG at 10 qulity (out of 100) the image is 30KB and looks terrible and please pay attention to the black/white square pattern, that increases GIF files, no matter the color pallette. On the other site using GIF increases the image's quality by making it look sharper and more detailed. It's really a risky decision, but :)

About no advertisement on the index - the fact that sites without advertisement on index convert better that the ones with advertisement, makes we want to keep the index clean the way it is. That way I can keep the surfer interested on what's inside and maybe pay a little bit more attention on the recip table. I have also other ideas why I shouldn't put advertisement on the index, but this reply is gonna get TOO LONG :)

I wasnt trying to say you "should sell" on the index... but there is alot of priority given to the header when its not a selling point of the site.. thats all.. (does that make sense?)

I would still be tempted to make the header a little smaller..(narrower/shorter) just to decease the size.

Ofcourse that make sense, but we're gonna stick with this idea for a while and see what happens - I can live with several signup losses as long as I know I tryed it and I failed, instead of never tryed it ;)

I can't seem to get the movies to play - WMP gives me an error that says "The source filter for the file could not be loaded"

Damn! That's terrible! I downloaded it from the sponsor server.... They may be having DRM license attached to track stats. Maybe your plugin is not beeing loaded properly. What is your version of WMP? They work great for me - could other check as well...

I have Version 10.00.00.3646 which I think is the newest version.

I changed the WMV with MPG and it should work fine now for everybody.

yep the linksites i review for dont send an email when reject they do sent an accept email when you site is listed, and yes i may reject you on that because the movie didnt worked for me.
Btw if i had seen this post from you before, then i would have know and would have told it on the board that the movies didnt work, but i am in an different time zone and havent seen this post, i saw this midday, hours after my reviewing, if all is fix, you can resubmit, but one thing, not all the linksites send out an email when your site isnt accepted, thats why people ask that on this board, or somethimes email the owner of the linksite.|violin|

I get a "ClassFactory cannot supply requested class" error in media player..
I know I dont have the newest version, but I've also never gotten this error before except on some AEBN gallery movies (which also redirect me half the time when I click em)

The mpeg is not playing for me either :(

I went & updated my codecs from the Windows Media Player site, but still no luck :(

ClickBuster - if you do get a lot of people saying that the movies won't play, providing links & update info is not gonna cut it - just think if you had to post this info on the site so that the surfer could jump thru hoops to see the vids.

This is why I review with the most popular things (browser, movie player, etc) So I can see what most surfers will also see :)

if i click the movies i get first a file to download the movie but i clicked that no and if i click again the movie it will play for me.

So, is this somekind of IE bug?!? I'm not sure... can you please explain again. You don't download you open directly in the WMP? Or reveresed? I want to put a message there explaining this.

When I click on those movies, instead of WMP just opening & the movie playing, I get asked if what I want to do with the file & then the movie downloads completely & then WMP opens & plays - kinda annoying :(

From what stuveltje said I think the problem is in streaming the movie. I guess they have been coded in some manner it's not possible.

Explorer gives me the download box (as if I was downloading a zip file or any normally downloadable link)

Firefox gives me a download box too, with option to Open it in default media player, or save to disk.

BTW, in Firefox it does *not* give me the option to "never ask again" like it does with "normal" movie file links. In other words, neither browser simply plays the movie, but asks me what I want to do with it due to the script you're running them through

Had no trouble with movies. I'd list this site.
