Here's how this one came about - Jim & I were talking on the phone today & he asked if I had any ideas for the Tip & Trick (he usually has one, but every now & then he asks me if I have anything to contribute) Just before he called, I had gotten a email from a sponsor about a new site, so I went to grab my link code for it & noticed that the codes had changed since the last time I was in there :( So, since I was planning on going thru all my sponsor links anyway (decided I'd become a little more surfer friendly & link to console free tours if available) I started to go thru all my sponsors & verify the codes that I had on the Link O'Rama.

So, after about 3 hours, I finished with the sponsors that started with the letter A (well, almost - I have a bunch of shit to do for ARS - LOL)

So far, I have found:
Adult Cash - new link codes, can't see that I've ever been paid (email sent to them)
Adult Lounge - new link codes
Adult Profit Network - changed to NATS, so there's new link codes
(btw - the 1st 2 were still tracking)

Jim will be the 1st to tell you how anal I am with stuff like this, so it's pissing me off that I somehow missed that 10% of my sponsors (so far) have new link codes. I'm not accusing anyone of anything underhanded - I could have very well missed an email from these sponsors - but knowing how I try to keep up with these things for the news on here......

So I'm going to post whatever I find so that you can see what I've found & then you can double check your link codes & whatnot & maybe I'll save a couple people a couples hours of time :)

Thanks GG, I've just found that some of the Spooky Cash codes have changed, and after looking I found that I missed the email :)

If it weren't for the newsletter I may not have looked.

I had some old links to ND NastyFetish.com, and it looks as if they have sold the domain to Cybernet and moved their site onto NastyFetish.org. I suspect this happened a long time ago, and I missed the email about it. It's one of the probs with having old sites - I'm still finding Globill links.

if you have ssh access:

grep -Rli 'texttofind' * (capital R, lowercase ell, lowercase i (case insensitive))
or
find . -type f -print | awk '{ print "grep -li \"texttofind\" " $1 }' | sh

Sometimes grep -R might complain about 'too many files'

Once you get the list of files, you can do a search through the names listed above.

There are many server side replacement scripts, and many that can run through FTP or remote. Or, you could mirror your site locally, and run one of the many search and replace scripts.

Or, you could use google to search for the old links on your site. :)

CJ Bucks changed their link codes too.

Cash Fetish - updated link codes

Cash XXX - updated link codes

Cash Zone - changed link codes

Cash Maniacs - only paying via wire (when I signed up they paid by checks) so I'm waiting to hear back from them on that issue

ni realy realy hate those sponsors who dont inform their webmasters, and i am dropping them right away, easy pick

Remember, I never said that they did not inform me - all of them very well could have sent out an email that I missed.

But knowing how anal I am compared to others, it made sense to Jim & I for me to post this info as a bit of advice.

In most cases, the changes look to be just improvements on tracking or adding extra features - aside from the program that I didn't notice changing to NATS all the clicks & sales were being tracked.

I'm not pulling any of these links or programs, just making the changes to the link codes :)

well i can say i didnt got some emails abot changing and i realy hate changing , although the ones i do sell good i will change and not drop:D

I'm still in the C's :D

i still have some sites here and there with sponsors who are already dead for more then a year, but than i am choatic and dont keep track of all, mmmm i realy need to change that one day:D

This is one of the reasons that we have resisted moving to Nats- changing link codes has to be a pain in the a$$

Nats in particular is a pain because of their link code system, which makes it harder (from what I can tell) to set up redirects.

Dollar Machine - removed a bunch of sites & I got tired of trying to figure out which ones were still active & which were dead with their really annoying consoles & back button disablers.

aah...bugger!!!

I just checked some old sites and discovered lots of useless links providing free traffic to a number of sites.

I hate sponsors who make you change link codes

The really annoying part is when threads like this get started and the affiliate programs themselves dont post, or give a heads up that they have changed their links/codes.

Please stop acting like I'm posting doom & gloom stuff - LOL - for the most part, the changes in the link codes have been for better tracking or updated options (consoles, trials, etc)

Erotica Cash - looks to be dead - it's been ages since I got a check & I am due a couple bucks :(

I also got an email from Adult Cash & they are looking into my payment problem :)

if you hear anything from adult cash let me know greenguy... i just noticed i havent been paid by them in a while either. matter of fact it has been sense they changed their payout schedual now that i look a little closer, they were getting hit hard by the visa rule change last i looked and it seems no money from them sense... i smell a stink comming on

I will say that I had to 1st email the link in the admin & then after I got no reply, I emailed the person on the domain's whois, so that my be the route to take to properly get a hold of them.

I'm almost thru the G's & I'm starting to get really depressed about all these that I missed or was not informed about :(

I have like 3000 domains so when a program notifies me they are changing thier system..then "Final notice" etc. I usually mean to change them but it like 60% of the time just never happens. I can think of one program in particular that pisses me off the way they did that..

I had some time, so I pushed thru to the end of the I's :)

the best thing I ever did in this biz was drop all my link codes into a piece of php

now i link to files on my own server so everytime I need to change a sponsors link codes I only need to change one file

Sean - I've never checked all of them, but I do try to read all the newsletters that sponsors send out & adjust things if necessary.

I either missed a lot of newsletters or a lot of sponsors didn't send any out...or a combination of the 2.

this has happened before I came on board GG and on Monday I was gonna announce that the company switched to cascading billing and that all our old affiliates should really sign up under the new syatem. however, they are still getting credit for sales and paid on time any monies owed.
:) But I am not sure if an e mail was sent out before I got here

I do have to go back & double check a few things, but for the most part, my list is complete.

Do you recall what change you found here GG?

(I have same link codes from 2 years or so ago and can't see a difference.)

Opti - I think it was just the order of the options part of the code - something like this:

p=1&s=37&u=greenguy

changed to this:

s=37&p=1&u=greenguy

Probably very minor, but I swapped them out anyway :)
