cant wait til the summer slowdown(which dont excist probably) in about 6 weeks me gonna move to my summer home again, if i am right my kids summerholiday starts 4 july or so, then my summer slowdown will start, swimming, fishing, sunbading alot of BBQ ing:D...i am sure i forget a thing....oh yeah also a bit working, only my working will go from 15+ hours a day to 2 hours a day for 6 weeks....i cant wait |pink

A friend of mine said there is a summer slow down, if you choose to believe it.

Summer is always slower in retail. Unless it's a surf shop or ice cream stand :)

I did have a slowdown last year but it was after I didn't build and submit anything for a few months due to me being busy remodelling my home. Makes me think that any slowdowns is more due to use going out in the nice weather rather then staying glued to the computer.

It has a lot to do with your business model too. Focus on one source and one sponsor and you will definitely see a summer slowdown. Keep things diversified and you will be better off throughout the whole year.

Of course there is a slowdown. If you work harder, it won't be as noticeable. But, it is still there. It is summer for Christ's sake. People go outside, colleges are closed...and there are just better things to do than to sit at a computer looking at porn.

But it isn't summer everywhere.

And I didn't have a summer slowdown, but I did have a winter slowdown after I stopped building stuff.

I think that over 80% of all internet users experience summer just about the same time as us. I read that last year but by now it could be more or it could be less. Anyway, since summer almost 10 years ago, there has been a distinctive slowdown that I have seen with my own traffic and traffic sent to the programs I was involved with.

But, like I said, if you work harder than the rest of the year, you won't notice it as much.

I noticed that the (I don't want to say freakier) less tame sites seem to do better during the summer for some reason.

I was somewhat but it really wasn't in full gear yet.

While I was doing my house I started seeing my traffic fall weekly. Soon afterwards the checks started getting smaller. After I finished my house I started building again and my traffic started raising again. Soon afterwards the checks started getting bigger again. So far January was my worst month in a year, February was still not great but better. Things are pretty decent now.

Last summer was decent for me but December was my best month last year.

Yeah it all is a bit hard to really know what is going on with me picking up a paysite in the mix but I still say much of the slowdown is simply the webmaster not putting in such long hours since there are other things to do.

So my summer slow down (winter) isnt really an issue cos I keep working as hard or even harder. But then even in my summer and even though I live next to some of the best beaches in the world I don't seem to make it out to enjoy them.
I agree that the summer slowdown is more about webmasters who have better things to do in the sunshine.

Maybe it is lucky that I live where I do. Summer is just too hot to spend much time outdoors here. On the other hand winter here is just too beautiful to stay indoors here. :)

I find it best to not push for your full potential through-out the entire year. That way, if and when a slow down occurs, you notice an income dip of only ten or twenty bucks a week rather than hundreds or thousands. I'm full of great ideas like this.

Seriously UW - do you have a blog? If not and you have the time you should start one, with quotes like these I'm sure you'd get plenty of bookmarkers and traffic through word of mouth. Not sure if it should be porn related, seems like adult humour products would be a great market for you to exploit, t-shirt hell and the like.

I remember DD saying last year that webmasters slow down not porn surfers and my last summer was good because I had a good amount of yahoo traffic my fall was shit because I lost the se traffic and didnt have enough free sites and was my first year and didnt stay on the right track and didnt build much and wasted a lot of time on my LL but its paying off now and I am really doing quite well got close to 100 free sites that are doing good in some serps and the last 3 or 4 months done some tgping and my LL is taking traffic growing spurts and that = more sales really I dont believe in a summer slow down, lower traffic = lower sales = summer slow down, so I am gonna work work and find more traffic and yes less sales in summer but if you dont slow down and those summer porn buyers get horny and get online you will be glad you didnt slack off and build all summer and take advantage of other webmasters slacking off and set your self up for a big payday when all the buyers come back and rake it in.....

After my first year in bizz i took 3 months of (summertime) money came in, but 4 weeks after summer my bizz collapsed i have worked weeks almost 24H a day to get it back, its indeed not the surfers who slow down, i think its the webmaster itself, last year i worked a bit more i my holiday then was planned, i had no summer slowdown, and realy hated to see my kids and all swimming and me workin, not planning todo that this year, so i wor now a bit harder to get all fixed for those 6 weeks of me slowing down:D

I like the summer.

Actually I think my last years summer stats were better than any other months...very odd......

I wonder if it's the surfers or the webmasters. Heat naturally makes people more horny. And surfers can go online at night. There's less daylight in the evening, but there's more daylight in the morning when guys have more testosterone. |pimpin

But when we're having winter you're having your summer,
and when you're having winter we down under are sweltering in summer heat...

So why would one half of the planet have a summer slowdown when it's winter in the other half?

[Yeah - I know - population demographics, spending power, etc...]

But it sure doesn't make it any easier to work one's ass off during our hot summer just because you guys are thinking it's winter and one should get busy indoors!

My plan is just to do what I did last year. I saw some decrease in sales, but it wasn't too bad. I have about 6 weeks left until the kids are out of school for summer, so going to be busting my ass till then, and then just doing some "maintenance" type stuff while they are out.

I figure that the kids grow up just so damn fast that if I have to work almost 24 hours a day now to be able to get to take most of the summer off with them, that is a more than fair trade.
