Looks like rain for the next few days, which really sucks ass because I have no gutters on my house - they took them off last week & it's been raining since then - I'm a prick, but I can't bring myself to ask the contractor to put them up in the rain :D

I'll be here fighting with an affiliate program all day if anyone needs me :)

I'm loving the rain. Wet grass seed is happy grass seed. I may get a lawn this year after all. Or maybe I'll just get a swamp.

I'll be in and out all day, but no one has ever needed me before, so I can't imagine that it matters. |cool|

Looks like rain here too which sucks because Luna is coming by later with her SUV to take me to Home Depot so that I can buy a wheelbarrow for use in cleaning up the rest of my backyard.

I guess instead of playing handywoman I could put on some of the new clothes that I bought yesterday and do something feminine… like go shopping again. :D

I also have to find a flight attendant costume for Angel for this weekend's dwarf shoot.

Last night I was sitting here sorting content and I accidentally deleted 3 original zips. No problem I thought. Took last weeks backup, put it in the drive..

Hmmmm. The fucking DVD is empty.

So I put in the DVD with all the web stuff - EMPTY!

Alrighty, something is not right. So I made a new backup, no errors or anything. BUT STILL A FUCKING EMPTY DVD "#¤%&&//@

Get an external FireWire or USB drive and use that for backups. Hard drives are faster and more reliable. Not that this helps with the stuff you lost already.

It was Matrix Content. I'll email them and see if they can resend them.

I have been thinking of getting an external HD. I guess now would be a good time.

It's always such a pain in the ass every time I do DVD backups. Especially now when it turns out that it didn't backup. Stupid me who didn't double check that the backups worked |angry|

I have 3 FireWire drives, they also have USB ports, that I rotate for backups. I do use DVDs for archiving stuff but that is about it.

Morning all -
Turned a boring night into a fun one last night.
About 6pm cable went out. Called to a few friends' houses, nothing... whole town was out.
Was planning on watching the bb games, no go.
Grabbed a couple DVD's made some italian popcorn and watched them with the boys.
That was fun!
Cable was back on this morning.

Should be around most of the day - unless I'm not here, in which case, I won't be :)

Swedguy, get an external drive... mine has saved my ass more than once. Or do what my friend does... he has two scsi raid drives, and one is just a mirror of the other... that is probably an even better way to do it.

I use DVDs to backup video edits. Video can get pretty large, and the costs of backing the stuff up onto hard drives would be insane (It's not unusual to have 25-30gig per running hour with multiple cameras, graphics, overlays, and preview files). $25 to store a project (assume 4 projects onto a 120gig drive at $100) or 6 dvds at 50 cents a piece... not hard to make the choice. I would prefer to put them on tape, but cheap tape drives fail and good tape drives are shockingly expensive.

Big time thunder and lightening here last night...along with an inch or so of rain. Enough that I had to open the pool drain for a bit this morning...lol.

Now, sunny and will hit 80 degrees before the day is done...I love Florida...lol.

Ouch...that sucks Swedguy. Good advice on the external hd as a backup. I run mirrored raid drives, but also use Norton Ghost to save a backup image of everything including the o/s twice a day to an external usb hd. Was pretty cheap to set up too :)

Alex where are you getting DVDs at 50 cents each?

I bought the Memorex DVD -R at office depot for .25¢ by buying 100 of them last month.

Angel just got OWC Mercury Pro FireWire DVD-R/RW+CD-R/RW FireWire + USB that does the new Dual layer 8.5 gig disks. Haven't looked to see what these disks cost or how hard they are to find.

The new Dual Layer disks are about $4 each from what I have seen. I think MacMall/PCMall had them for $60 for 15 recently. I have a burner capable of them, but, at $.50 for two disks versus $4 for the same storage, call me cheap, but, I'll use two DVDs :)

Office Depot does appear to be dumping the media at about the best prices I've seen recently, but, I haven't seen the Dual Layer DVDs there yet.

Yeah she didn't buy the drive because of the new 8.5 gig disks. She has the same Powerbook that I have and they only came with a 1x DVD burner that is very picky about what it will burn to. I burn like one or two DVDs a month so no big deal but she has been burning a lot of disks so at 1x it becomes a real bottleneck in one's workflow.

It's amazing how fast this technology is changing.

The best I've gotten is $1.66 each (for 50) which I thought was kickass since I was paying $4 each.

I just stopped by Office Depot to pick up a 25 pack or something and saw their specials. They had a 100 packs advertised for $35 but were out of them so I ended up buying four 25 packs for $25 which was insane but that is what the store manager charged me since I was inconvenienced in having to buy four packs instead of one big spindle.

Morning wonderful ppl :D I was in a shit mood when I got up just now but reading this thread always cheers me up. hehe I would like to see Cleo in the flight attendants costume :P I had fun dressing up in my sisters strippers costumes the other night and I like being a cop best.

Not me getting dressed up as a flight attendant and having sex with a dwarf. lol

evening all well 11.24 evening here and me am getting ready for bed, had more an busy ofline day, me and my son had to go to the dentist for checkup (oh and i hate the dentist) lol i said to my 8 year old son you go first:D, then soccer practise with my son, then late midday i had to pick up my daughter who came back from schoolcamp (and gave me the wrong time that she would came back, so i waited 1 and an half hour on that stupid schoolcamp bus) but i was happy to see her back home and i have spent my whole evening with her, listening to her stories of schoolcamp.tomorrow an other day for work.nite nite all |goodnight
