TGP2, is it worth it?
 

OK, kind of lame, but since some posters insist that TGP2 is worth the time it takes to build for it and submit what is some other webmaster's thought on this?

I don't think it is worth the additional work, I already spend enough (too much?) time with TGP's as it is. To me, TGP2 is just a stricter TGP, and TGP's are already, some of them, way too strict.
I was on a TGP last night that hit me with a dialer program as soon as I visited their site. But under Rules for Posting Galleries, they said "No dialers!!" Hypocrites....
I thought about starting my own TGP but I'd be in the same boat as I am now, trying to get enough traffic to make a buck.

The TGP2 rules are gallery builder friendly. You can see them here

You can build a gallery with 5 linked thumbs, 5 links or more (or a fairly reasonable amount) to sponsors on the gallery page, put the big pics on html and have a couple of links to sponsors on each of those big pic html pages.

All of sudden you've got a 6 page site with 15+ links to sponsors and will have only posted 5 full size pics. (and if your scratching your head, think Google)

Try that with a tgp1 gallery or a linklist submit and see how long it is before you get kicked to the curb.

Snowone, you beat me to it. I was busy re-registering, since it seems somehow I was no longer a registered member of this board.

Anyway, anyone thinking TGP2 is stricter than TGP sure needs to do better research...

You're wrong. That is not a rule. It's been discussed to hell and back, but that particular one never made it into the rule book.

Define failure.

I will only speak about my personal views instead of trying to state the business line of theory.

I personally would spend the extra time or venture into the business model of TGP2, I would have to see some hardcore numbers that proved to me that it was worth it over doing MGP & TGP or Link List type of work, no need to add something to my plate that wont be substantial in raising income.

I can't really say if it's worth it or not seeing how I've never built a TGP2 gallery, but if I'm a surfer and I can get 15 per page or get 5 ( I'm thinkin I'm goin for 15 dogg. ) |devil|

I thought that was the point of TGP2 - to provide less free content to surfers, in hopes of getting them intrigued and hot enough to click on the sponsor links on the gallery page, instead of giving away the whole store.
Unfortunately, as long as TGP is still around, surfers are going to feel just that way, go to TGP for more free pics instead of TGP2 for less.
I've probably got 500 TGP gallery pages out there and none of them are anywhere near the top of Search Engines....
Just this week I have received, in 2 days, about 15,000 hits to a new page I just did, and not a single sale.

Voltar, a unbiased 3rd party, did a comparision of tgp versus tgp2 in May of 2003. The results can be seen here They were published in the TGP2 newsletter in June 2003 with his permission.

I'll let you read it and come to your own conclusion(s).

I’ve been published on traffic pumps since ’97, my conclusions come from my own experiences in this business. :)

In Aug I decided to do some TGP2 galleries and from 6 galleries, which I just converted from my TGP galleries, and I made 1 sale. The best part of TGP2 is that it doesn’t take long time to build a couple of them. I think that it’s a very good compliment for free sites & regular TGP. Jus add them to your daily routine for a couple of weeks and see how it does.

I have been looking at at the buzz on this and was wondering is there a call for tgp2 sites. And if so could you show me an example of one so i may better get an idea?

Ok here is an example how to maximize tgp/tgp2:

it's easy to convert 1 to the other. both are valuable in their business model. on this particular one.. 2 sales on the tgp and 3 on the tgp2.

1 gallery = 5 sales. both built in june but i'm still getting hits on the tgp2 one.

Don't get me wrong guys if your making money at it then it's definitely worth it, but if you think the youth of the nation is stupid your wrong. The kids now days are downloading more porn than you ever dreamed of as a teenager.

Like I said if it makes you money go for it by all means, but tgp isn't going anywhere and you got to respect a tgp owner that can literally shut your server down because he sends to much traffic.

If it was possible to make everybody just cut off the surfers it would be a much more profitable world for all of us...

Well, I'm going to give TGP2 a try, yesterday I built a gallery page and today I'll be submitting it.

Thanks, docholly! I used the TGP2 sample you posted yesterday as a template/guide. So thanks for that as well.

I did a Google search for "gay TGP2" to get a list og places to submit to. But it's a flawed result, it is dislaying TGP as well as TGP2 and the TGP's aren't accepting a gallery with only 5 thumbs. Does anyone know of a list of good gay TGP2 sites?

Well my new TGP2 gallery page has been submitted to all the TGP2 sites I could locate (not that many) so I will see what happens

i submitted a tgp2 the other day and i plan to more of the same,submit to the gallery pool and put up on my 'mock' tgp and LL. i rather would do tgp2,more ads.

i don't it's a failed business model,most ppl are scared to just take only tgp2 because they'll lose all/most of their traffic as other tgp won't switch over....but hopefully more and more small-mid tgp2 will open up...if i was doing a tgp i would only take TGP2
