Who's the oldest here?

What's the oldest cartoon you can remember watching?

For me it's Felix The Cat or maybe Gigantor. Not sure which is older.

Mighty Mouse (They never show this either)

Courageous Cat (Good luck finding this on cable tv).

That's the only one that I haven't seen that's listed in this thread.

In addition I also remember Betty Boop, Kimba The White Lion, George Of The Jungle and Mighty Mouse.

I know these aren't really that old but aren't "The Road Runner" and "Tom and Jerry" at least worth a mention?

eman 2005-05-19 03:12 PM

Not a cartoon, but Muffin The Mule is one of my earliest memories. That and Andy Pandy, The Flowerpot Men and The Wooden Tops.

You ever start wondering why there was only one female smurf for a complete population of male smurfs? And people wonder why they were fucking blue.

You know that vanity smurf was filling in when smurfette was too tired...but I digress.

dareutwo 2005-05-19 04:32 PM

Captain Kangaroo - (not really a cartoon)
Loved the Road Runner and Wiley Coyete (sp?) At least Roger Rabbit kept the Acme Corporation alive :D

tortus32 2005-05-19 05:05 PM

The Magic Garden was funny with the chuckle patch and that pink squirrel in the tree
Someone I know is related to one of the girls that was on the show. I went to her house and they had the whole tape collection, so I just had to ask where they got the tapes - lol!

Bill

Oh yes, Wonderama. Kids are people too, hehe. I used to call it by that name because of that song they'd always sing.

I did listen to "The Shadow" on the radio and bet you already guessed the "Grand Ole Orpy" and the "Louisana Hayride".

The first aminated cartoons I remember were seen at the movies - "Tom and Jerry", "Woody Woodpecker", and "Mr. McGoo."

Mississippi did not get a TV station until 1953 and it was a uhf channel and could not reach but a few miles outside of Jackson. In 1954, we got our first TV. Captain Kangroo came on that year but the first tv program I saw was Howdy Doody.

b1ng0 2005-05-20 02:57 AM

Buncha old farts! ;) I don't remember hardly any of the ones you guys are talking about. For me it was Transformers, Thundercats, Smurfs, PeeWee's Playhouse, etc.

Fonz 2005-05-20 05:11 AM

When I was a kid He-Man was hot, so were Transformers (first edition)

CelticTiger 2005-05-20 06:53 AM

I always loved a daily dose of Tom & Jerry :)
Mr Magoo used to crack me up too.
