I just joined the Free Speech Coalition

Even though the FSC's chairman, Jeffery Douglas, is my lawyer for JQMedia. I figures that I would step up to the plate and formally join the FSC. All you other guys sitting on the sidelines should do this as well. The FSC is the only organization with enough teeth to put up a good fight with all of this impending obscenity /2257 shit.

Don't sit on the sidelines and wait for someone else to do it. Step up and fight these bastards...it will be easier and less expensive then trying to do it from the confines of Federal Lockup.

Join, donate, and do something now!

I wish they had a membership option under $500/year for relatively small-timers like me :( The $50/year options look like they're basically for talent only, and that's not me.

Lemmy 2005-05-20 10:34 AM

Sounds like something we should all support. Running my own LL I think I qualify as an individual "employed in adult entertainment industry".

Kinky 2005-05-20 10:37 AM

MadMax you should fall under the "talent and other individuals in the adult industry" with the $50 membership.... you can also just make donations without joining if you want... any amount no matter how small will help out |thumb

SirMoby 2005-05-20 11:47 AM

You can donate any amount of money so you don't have to pay $500 to help the cause.

Lunatic 2005-05-20 04:03 PM

This is one way we can go on the offensive and not just the defensive.

Bill 2005-05-20 07:02 PM

I think their website could use a few more features. An email newsletter that donors and interested parties could sign up for would be a nice feature, but I didn't see it. They had a newsletter, but not a public one, as far as I could tell.

I just gave them $50.

What other organizations are working on the same issues?

yeah their website leaves something to be desired at the moment... i think it might be from a lack of funding IE they use their money in other places instead of web design... i've heard they are working on a few things to make it better...

as far as other orginizations i don't know of anybody else that is gonna step up to the plate for all of us if need be... there are plenty of lawyers and groups that will go to bat for their clients but not the industry as a whole without their clients getting hit first

Kinky 2005-05-21 06:34 AM

just saw attorney general gonzalez on c-span talking about going after "internet porn" and "obscenity" and his plan seems to be to get local law enforcement more involved to police obscenity on a more "community" level... CP was mentioned once "internet porn" and "obscenity" a few times

You are best backin FSC...there may be others, but there isn't one that is going to take the fight to the courts like the FSC.

I hate it when they mention going after obscenity. Obscenity is vague and very subjective. I don't think that obscenity should even be judged on a community level. You may find your wife on the toilet to be rather unappealing while your neighbor loves having his wife shit on his chest.

If these ignorant cocksuckers would smarten up and go after what we can all agree is wrong - porn involving force and/or children - they'd have us as their biggest allies. But since they have failed to properly police that type of activity, they want to spread their wings to involve anything that you can't do in a mall in the bible belt.

yeah they (the gov't) refuses to define "obscene" but they will punish you for it

This might be a borderline stupid question, but do you need to be a US citizen to gain membership? The big American flag on the index tells me 'probably'...

I don't think that you need to be a US citizen to become a member. We have illegal alians lobbying and signing petitions all the time.

I think the American Flag is posted because they're fighting for the rights of Americans. It's a very patriotic cause to fight against people trying to take away our freedom.

Hey Bill,

The FSC is the best for looking after the adult industry but on a wider spectrum, you might want to consider the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

MadMax 2005-05-24 09:55 AM

I just tried to join and it won't let me (form just refreshes blank), then tried to donate instead of joining and it did the same thing. Anyone know if their site isn't firefox friendly or something?

Qon 2005-05-24 10:59 AM

..

MadMax 2005-05-24 07:09 PM

Cool, well, they've got my $50 for the good fight :)

Cleo 2005-05-25 01:49 PM

Site works fine in Safari :)

Jim 2005-05-25 03:14 PM

We joined too :)

dicknixon 2005-05-25 04:17 PM

We just joined as well. I've spent the entire afternoon buried in content licenses from 2000.

I've got a papercut under my fingernail.

Time to circle the wagons.

Sinistress 2005-05-25 05:37 PM

LOL

I'm sorry, I find it highly entertaining that you have to PAY, to join a FREE speech coalition? I understand its to help keep them running, but apparently now Free Speech will cost you $500 a year?

I'll donate some... but right now I can't afford to fork out $500 a year

SirMoby 2005-05-25 05:46 PM

Webmasters can now join for $300

Greenguy 2005-05-25 06:04 PM

What happened to the CC processing page?

There were differnet levels that you could join based on your income - and by different I mean different than the ones listed on here:
http://www.freespeechcoalition.com/c...ypes=Corporate

And individuals (like most posters here are) can join for $50:
http://www.freespeechcoalition.com/i...pes=Individual

Yup, I saw the $300 webmaster membership fee, but I figure they'd rather have my $50 than nothing at all :)

Cleo 2005-05-25 06:53 PM

I only did the fifty dollar amount. Something is better then nothing I figure.

I'm mostly just pissed off by this whole 2257 mess.

Qon 2005-05-25 08:47 PM

someone mention something about the benefits of membership to the Free Speech Coalition?. you better join because members are the only ones protected under any moves the FSC makes... read more here

A doom country

with the majority of the poulation utilizing the graphic images of the adult world to stay abstenant, you know that the government does not function in the favor of the majority. The only way to protect your self is to buy ammo and rifles and other fortifications. Our democarcy has failed. I fear the Sith Lords have taken control and we now bow before the dark lords of the evil empire. Every one for himself !
