New Orleans Webmaster Conference

Anyone going to this thing next week? I'll be there with some of the degenerates and scofflaws I work with.

Jim 2005-06-17 12:07 PM

Jesus, I just heard of it.
I wish they would have one in NYC.

I hear ya Jim. My wife and I would love to go to one. But I sure as hell wont go to anyplace that is surly going to cost me 1k just for the trip. Not to mention the tickets. They really need to bring one to NYC. It's the best city in the world. Not trying to blast any who don't live there. I'm sure your cities are nice but if you have not been to NYC you really have not been to a city. I have seen a shot load of them and not many of them had me looking up just to be able to see sky.

You missed it (Last October)

I think you & I spoke about this - they wanted something like $1000 per person just to walk in the door or something insane like that.

Useless 2005-06-17 02:00 PM

I keep saying that I'd like to attend a conference in NYC too, but Montreal is just as close to me and a much easier drive, yet I've never been to one there. So, well, there ya go.

Linkster 2005-06-17 04:24 PM

Are you referring to the publishers conference for SEOs? Cause I sure cant find anything about an adult WMs conference there - and if there is it must be extremely hidden cause fubar doenst know about it to take pics LOL

Hell, if members of the GG&J community are not going to be there, I rather take my $800 and make trips to NY and Vicksburg where you can get some real help

Linkster 2005-06-17 04:40 PM

OK - just wanted to make sure it was that one - I thought for a minute someone had organized another Adult conference in new orleans and I sure didnt want to miss that

Of course the Meet the Google Engineers night at this conference sounds like it would be (how can I say this without being sarcastic) "fun" - 120 bars in 6 blocks and I want to go talk to engineers -NOT!

madleinx 2005-06-17 05:07 PM

Haven't heard anything about a webmaster show in New Orleans, and I live here! That's just an SEO conference, right? $800 is outrageous.

Hey, Chop Smith, whereabouts in MS are you (if you don't mind saying)? I grew up there :)

madleinx 2005-06-17 05:11 PM

Just looked at that site again....If anybody's planning on going, might want to get a different hotel. NOT the best neighborhood, by a long shot....

Chop Smith 2005-06-17 05:30 PM

Half ways between Jackson and Hattiesburg on Hwy 49S. Here is a map. My address is plastered all over the Internet. You can come stalk me or hell we can just thro' down.

Just another reason to love ya, Chop. You're always willing to mud wrestle. |waves|

madleinx 2005-06-17 05:51 PM

Think I took thro' down differently than UW, but that's unsurprising. :D

Thanks for the map. I went to USM for a year (um...not sure if I should admit that, lol) and lived on 49. Also used to stop around D'Lo for bathroom breaks on the way to visit my parents. So stalking you wouldn't be too difficult. :) Next time I pass through maybe we can get a drink or something.....but I believe I will skip the mud-wrestling, unless I'm just the referee. :D

CaptainJSparrow 2005-06-17 06:38 PM

Well, I'm going to the SEO conference in Nawlins. Anyone have any intelligent questions that you want us to ask those boring old Google engineers?

What's going on in Vicksburg? Do you ever make it down here to the beach Chop ( I'm in Long Beach)? If so, maybe we can hook up for a cold one sometime.

Chop Smith 2005-06-18 04:59 PM

I sort of gave up on Vicksburg on 07/03/1863, but about my reference to it in a previous post. There is a member of the GG&J board that lives around Vicksburg that knows more about Goggle than those Goggle engineers.

Actually, we have a boat at the Long Beach Marina. I don't go much but my son is down almost every week-end.

FanTC 2005-06-18 06:23 PM

That was just a minor setback in the grand scheme of things. Any good Reb knows we will rise again.

My house is just 3 blocks or so from the harbor. If you decide to come down sometime, let me know and I'd be honored to meet a fellow Southern Smut Slinger.

With as many webmasters as there are around here and in Bama and Louisiana, we need a conference of some kind. Anything on the agenda that I'm not aware of?

Chop Smith 2005-06-18 09:21 PM

Yeah! A Southeatern Conference of Smut Slingers would be great. I nomitate Linkster to be the President.

BTW, I would like to commend you for listing your true location. Damn, I am proud to be a Mississippian

i thought they did already when GWB was elected..

Linkster 2005-06-19 12:30 AM

docholly - not a chance - that pencil-necked Texan isnt even close to a good Southern boy - and he tried cock - by definition that makes him a damn hippie - a good leader that would care about state rights - now that would be a good Reb :)

and BTW - because of GWB's damn policies now we have to celebrate the 4th of July here - up until he took office we never once had a celebration - it was always a day of mourning for the day our town fell

I'll second that nomination...Linkster what ya say?

Who wouldn't be proud to claim to be a Mississippian? Slow, lazy days sitting under the oaks breathing the sweet smell of Magnolia blossoms...the people, the charm, the food...

I'm American by birth,
Southern by the grace of God,
and Mississippian by choice!

Something in NYC that is reasonable then :)

Sarah_Jayne 2005-06-19 10:29 AM

A big show (ie worth trans atlantic travel for) in New Orleans would kick ass.

Yeah, and we did not even have the Internet back then. Am I the oldest member of the board?

For you Doc...I was a freshmen at Ole Miss on September 30, 1962.

A southern webmasters convention is a great idea. But how do we keep those yankee infiltrators from coming down here and guzzling up all the mint juleps and stealing all our barbeque secrets?

Easy - we'll just tell them its in the French Quarter - let them try to find it LOL

Chop Smith 2005-06-20 01:37 PM

Well, I invaded the first Midwest meeting in Chicago. The Extreme guys and I talked about doing something in New Orleans at that meeting. We should do it. Those small meetings are valuable as far as networking and fellowship.

I have heard from many that the best meeting ever was the New Orleans on several years back.

Linkster 2005-06-20 04:12 PM

That was the year that Internext was held in New Orleans - its a shame that it will never happen again - but with the people that plan these things locked into Vegas and Fla and the rates that they get - its got to be too profitable and New Orleans would not be :) Well - except for the webmasters that go to the shows - but of course - who are they? (no wonder so many people are boycotting the Fla show)
