Terror in London???

Watching CNN right now - explosions in the underground and maybe a bus too.

Anyone there? Richard?

Cliff 2005-07-07 05:47 AM

All the London Underground is closed.

A bomb is confirmed to have ripped the top of a bus off.

There are multiple explosions in London on buses and apparently in Underground stations.

:(

Mishi 2005-07-07 05:47 AM

Listening to Virgin radio; getting nasty reports between rounds of perky pop songs. It sounds bad. My thoughts are with our friends across the pond.

Cliff 2005-07-07 05:55 AM

The British Home Secretary, Charles Clarke just spoke on Sky News saying that this is a major terrorist attack.

Tony Blair is in Scotland with President Bush at the G8 summit, about 300 miles away.

Rocco 2005-07-07 05:55 AM

just watching CNN - horrible!!!

Rocco 2005-07-07 06:10 AM

according to CNN there are about 80 dead victims already

Rocco 2005-07-07 06:13 AM

Tony Blair cannot show up yet - still in a meeting with George W. Bush
6 explosions found so far

Cliff 2005-07-07 06:15 AM

Sky News is not giving any indication of how many bombs went off.

They just confirmed that there were 3 buses blown up and there have been explosions on underground tube trains, no idea exactly how many, but I guess there's a load of 'em. :(

speed57 2005-07-07 06:17 AM

Rocco 2005-07-07 06:22 AM

Rocco 2005-07-07 06:40 AM

now head chief of London metro police officially talks about a terror attack

Cliff 2005-07-07 06:46 AM

The worst thing is that it was rush hour in London, with the buses and trains totally packed with people.

This quite possibly is an Al Qaeda attack, because there was no warning. Bastards!

Rocco 2005-07-07 06:51 AM

Blair to come up on TV in about 10 minutes

Fido 2005-07-07 06:55 AM

Strange world we live in, I don't understand it :(

Rocco 2005-07-07 07:03 AM

Tony Blair now on TV

Jim 2005-07-07 07:04 AM

Oh man...our hearts are with you guys.

Cliff 2005-07-07 07:08 AM

Tony just said....

There's been a series of terrorist attacks in London
with casualties, dead and seriously injured.

His intention is to leave the G8 Summit and go down to London
to return later this evening to Scotland.

The G8 meeting will continue with President Bush and the other world leaders.

He thinks that it's barbaric that this was timed to happen during the G8 summit.

Jim 2005-07-07 07:23 AM

Stay safe Cliff...

N J 2005-07-07 07:43 AM

Tony Blair just confirmed that this is terror!

Fucking wankers... |bigfuckin

Prawnie 2005-07-07 09:36 AM

I live near London and was actually in the city this morning when the attacks went off.
I had used the underground just 45 minutes before the explosion.
To let everyone know, there is an air of disbelief all around. London Transport (who I work for) is suspended apart from outer bus routes. Zone1 bus routes ie central London are suspended.
The railways we think will return to a skeleton service and Transport For London are orgainising boat services to evacuate the millions of workers who commute to work each day.
At the moment, 45 confirmed dead. Up to a thousand have been reported to be injured.
Its another sad day :(

jennym 2005-07-07 10:01 AM

Very sad indeed. My thought are with all of you.

BTW, anyone heard from sara???

Jel 2005-07-07 10:03 AM

Maybe now the Govt. will kick out the extremists who call for this shit to happen while living in state funded homes here.

Hope everyone here close to this is OK

-- Death toll in London blasts at least 40, U.S. sources say, citing British government as source.

GunnCat 2005-07-07 10:57 AM

Prawn, glad to see you are ok. I was worried about you. My parents are in London, I am sure they are fine, but we haven't heard anything from them yet.
Hey man since you are ok, why don't you go update the TGP? :D

Linkster 2005-07-07 12:18 PM

From what Ive seen and read on the BBC, the Londoners have a hell of a great attitude towards all of this and their emergency services are excellent under fire - perfect execution of the terror response plan
Still waiting to see if its really terrorists or something else not thought of yet

What gets me is the accounts from people that were involved and their calm non-panic response - wheras you watch the US news stations and they are trying to panic everybody with their reports - guess we have a lot to learn from the British

Erick G 2005-07-07 01:07 PM

linkster your so right
they executed the plan like pro's
here there would be so much confusion and US media is nothing but fear mongors.

Stouch 2005-07-07 02:22 PM

It must be said that the emergency services have been absolutely magnificent today.
