Recruits Sought for Porn Squad

The new squad will divert eight agents, a supervisor and assorted support staff to gather evidence against "manufacturers and purveyors" of pornography -- not the kind exploiting children, but the kind that depicts, and is marketed to, consenting adults.

"I guess this means we've won the war on terror," said one exasperated FBI agent, speaking on the condition of anonymity because poking fun at headquarters is not regarded as career-enhancing. "We must not need any more resources for espionage."

Refer Madness...one of my favorite movies :)

ponygirl 2005-09-20 11:31 AM

hey, I'd be insane WITHOUT mj lol

I think it really boils down to accepting responsibility. I don't know that Canadians are any better, but it seems that some people in the US are making an art form out of blaming anyone/anything else for the bad (read sinful) things they do.

We are starting to have a real gun problem here, never mind porn & pot. It pisses me off to see our resources used to fight silly things when there's so much more to worry about.
Smoke a dube, surf the net, & whack off - what's the problem here?? :D

SirMoby 2005-09-20 11:43 AM

They're doing this to gain votes and take focus off of other areas such as corporate fraud where millions of Americans lost billions of dollars. Yes, congress has approved more money and resources to fight pornography then corporate fraud. They don't want people looking too closely at Haliburton or those that made bank from Enron and WorldCom.

It is nice to see The Post and the FBI pointing out the obvious :)

Great article!

Here's another pefect example of why other country's laugh at us.

Useless 2005-09-20 01:33 PM

You know what the nice thing about being about being arrested for obscenity is? It's the only crime that you didn't realize you were breaking the law until they decided to call what you're doing criminal. And why are they doing this? Because it's pure fear mongering. They hope to scare us out of business because we have no black and white interpretion to go buy. What may be fine is one court is going to be obscene in another. The outcome will be purely the luck of the draw.

Fuck you George Bush.
Fuck you Dick Cheney, you bald-headed rat.
Fuck you Alberto Gonzalez.
Fuck all of you, you loathesome cucksuckers.

Not all countries. I'm sure that repressive countries like Iraq, North Korea, Afgahnastan, Libya, Cuba and many others agree with taking resources away from corporate crime and squashing free speech is a good thing.

urb 2005-09-20 04:30 PM

I know some people who wouldn't dream of surfing pornography. Some people live very sheltered lives. I can remember my Mom asking me what some graffiti said on a wall... so I told her... "It says cunt", then she asked me what "cunt" meant! :)

Another example... who in their right mind wouldn't change their name if they were this person?

Sometimes we forget how broad minded we have become in this profession.

But throwing money into fighting porn will cost lives, when there are not enough resources left to deal with the real threats to society.

Christ, don't get me started. Here in Canada, you can steal C$1.5 million from the taxpayers, plead guilty and not do a single day in jail! Of course, as part of your sentence, you have to teach a course in ethics at a university though! Anyone from Canada knows the Government scandal of which I am talking.

A new niche site - Porn Busters! These "agents" probe and investigate tawdry US code "violations". See explicit pics of vids of UW as he is "interrogated" by the squad. Explicit whimpering and pissing scenes!

Maybe we should get some doctors who have lost their licences to teach medicine too. Or hell, just re-instate them, we do have a shortage, ya know.

Classic do as I say not as I do attitude.

That's a drop in the bucket. The Vice President's old company Halliburton still hasn't explained the US$1.8 Billion in unexplained expenses in Iraq.

$1.5 million is just pork but you would think that 1,000 times that might be important.

Jim - interesting article, thanks for sharing that.

This story is a complete B.S. I don't blame the FBI agents for being relunctant to take on this assignment. It's so stupid!!!

cosmiccat 2005-09-21 03:50 PM

If it wasn't so ridiculous, it might actually be funny!

urb 2005-09-29 08:22 AM

Eight field agents? Sounds like a token investment to me.

They could run the entire national porn squad through an 8 port router.

SirMoby 2005-09-29 11:19 AM

I wonder is I can sign up for the squad. I bet I know more about porn then they do. :)

And you're in DC :) maybe you should email them? I'm sure they'd be highly interested in your resume.

Poacher becomes Gamekeeper kinda senario. :)

Didn't you see the film "The Jackal" starring Bruce Willis and Richard Gere?

Opening scene is the FBI raiding a nightclub in Russia to arrest a Russian mobster.

But at the end of the film, the FBI let the IRA terrorist go free?!?!

So you're saying that movie didn't make you feel sympathy for the poor heart-broken IRA bomb maker that used to kill women and children?

urb 2005-09-30 11:23 AM

Not really UW :) although I do think a United Ireland would be a cool thing.

The FBI guy (Sidney Poitier) told the IRA guy (Richard Gere) that he knew about the airport locker full of money and fake passport that he had the key to.

So, the film closes with the IRA guy wandering off onto what looks like the streets of Chicago, headed for an airport!?!

I guess some of you will say that it was just a fictional story - but if you watched Farenhieght 9/11 you may remember the bit about how the FBI were denied access to question the Bin Laden family by the White House while the whole family were given safe passage out of the United States.

Interviewing a suspect's immediate family is standard police practice, so why were the FBI held back from doing this? Would it have been unreasonable to ask them a couple of questions? Like "When did you last see Osama?"

Something ain't right.

selena 2005-09-30 02:20 PM

Damnit!

I thought this thread was going to be something waaaaaay cool about how you could apply for this Super Special Squad and hopefully have sexy latex outfits and run around with violet wands in leiu of lightsabers.

I wanted that job!

Shhh...... We want people to forget that Bin Laden is from Saudi Arabia and start thinking he's from Iraq. How can you support a war in Iraq if you're constently reminded that no one in Iraq or from Iraq was supporting terrorism against us.

Now please be quite. ;)

If you really want the job of running around in latex I'm sure 3X Tom would be happy to take photos of you in the outfit I'd be happy to send you :)
