Why is mayorsmoney.com spamming me?

Don't they know it's not polite? Like I need more spam coming from someone acting like an old friend. |angry|

plateman 2005-10-06 08:25 PM

My thoughts as well. I won't be doing anything with them after this. I wonder if that was their aim?

HC-Majick 2005-10-06 09:15 PM

Add me to the list of the unhappily spammed. |pissed|

CrazySy 2005-10-06 09:48 PM

I had just joined them a few days ago and yet I got spammed on three different email accounts today. I am not going to promote them either just because I hate spammers |angry|

Jamdin 2005-10-06 10:21 PM

I loved the email since the cutie even had a fan sign with my email address. How cool is that?

Mayor's Money rocks |headbang|

porndragon 2005-10-06 10:39 PM

Mayors money is the best I haven recieved an email or 2 from them but nothing to complain about ;)

Kinky 2005-10-06 10:42 PM

they spammed me too.... they are now on my list of sponsors never to promote

plateman 2005-10-06 10:52 PM

I dont like spam no more than the next guy but one email isnt gonna make me throw them to the dogs yet.. IMO

Keyser Soze 2005-10-06 11:02 PM

I got 1 mail and I am signed up to their board, Mayorsmoney, stiffycash and a couple of other programs run by them.

They also have Porn DVD Dollars :D

I got it to (and I'm already signed up)

Not that big of a deal - we sent emails to everyone who's addy we had when we started the board :)

SirMoby 2005-10-07 12:42 AM

Interesting. 5 out of 11 people here put them on the shit list for that spam.

Buying email addresses to announce a new program is one thing. Trying to pretend like we're old friends though?

Halfdeck 2005-10-07 01:34 AM

Yeah I also got an email from them today. The first thing I thought was "don't they even bother to check their affiliate DB before they send this stuff out?"

I wasn't too offended though because they also sent me a little thumb drive in the mail which I thought was cute plus it didn't take long for me to start making money with them.

Bare 2005-10-07 06:21 AM

If you're gonna spam me - spam me. Don't make me question my sanity trying to figure out who you are.

Monsieur 2005-10-07 06:41 AM

Add me to the list of the spammed, too, but I don't think it's that bad, just wondered where they got my address from because if I recall correctly, I'm not signed up of any of their programs, but that might be false as I usually just sign up and then let my accounts sit until I like one of their sites :)

Ramster 2005-10-07 08:25 AM

I got the email too and thought the girl with my email address on the sign was cool....yet spooky too. Am I being stalked? |shocking|

Many programs do this and although I do Not like it I guess I can understand it.

Wizzo 2005-10-07 09:14 AM

Sending a email to a affiliate who has signed up for your program or BBS is hardly spam. Sorry to anyone who's day was completely ruined by this... |dizzy|

As for "acting like a old friend", not really a act, we consider almost all our affiliates friends and try to treat them that way. |waves|

Dr Bizzaro 2005-10-07 09:14 AM

They spend thousands of hours making peronalized fan signs to all their webmasters and you guys are complaining? Sheesh...

I'm with Greenie. I am already an affiliate of other programs. So I just consider that a creative way to market a new program to their current affiliates.

Wizzo 2005-10-07 09:15 AM

BTW.... Ramster, Brooke is stalking you... ;)

Jim 2005-10-07 09:33 AM

I often wonder...when spamming comes up, if you get a home depot spam in your regular mail at home, do you call them and complain?

Or this anology...you buy a new car. (You join an affiliate program), they write to you to tell you about other new cars year after year. (you get an email giving you something cool). Do you call the car company and complain? Or do you just throw it away.

Email lists are like addresses, worth a lot of money and bought by many people. Nothing wrong with it. I wouldn't sell our list but, I would be happy to rent it to send announcements.

SirMoby 2005-10-07 09:39 AM

I never viewed the image because I keep the images blocked. I don't think I signed up for any of your programs and it came to an email address that gets a lot of spam but isn't one of my main business accounts. It just looks like it came from a list of purchased emails.

All I was doing is making a point. It appears that many webmasters got the email through spam channels and not normal business channels.

My main reason for posting was just to see the responce from webmasters and Mayor. It's been a enlightening for me :)

Ramster, there are many hot babes stalking you.

I will be glad to tell which program you used it to signup with..

I would go there and burn them down |bananna|

Fonz 2005-10-07 09:53 AM

I feel left out :(
I do have an account with stiffycash since 2001 or so but never promoted them. Maybe that's why you guys are ignoring me. :)

Thumbler 2005-10-07 09:56 AM

I got it but it didn't really bother me, the thing that surprised me was that they didn't dedupe their list and remove exisiting webmasters from it. Inviting me to join a program I'm already promoting seems a bit pointless.

Hey guys, sorry if it upset you. We didn't buy a list and spam it. You either joined one of our programs or registered on our bbs. |peace|

Greenguy 2005-10-07 10:50 AM

SirMoby - you know I love you, but I was just wondering if you complained to every company that spammed you yesterday or if it was just this one.

I got 3000 emails yesterday & this was one of them. So even if I complained & got them to take me off the list that they have all rights to have me on, today I'd still get 3000 emails (well, maybe 2999)

Think of how long The Mayor & Porn City & whatnot have been around...odds are you signed up for something with them :)

TL 2005-10-07 11:04 AM

I, like most people, get spammed daily... "get a bigger cock" or "you need a logo" etc etc but to call an email from one of our industry leaders spam is just short sighted.

Whenever GFY has a getaway, I get 3-4 emails about it.. why, because I've signed up in the past to at least 3-4 of Lensman's programs.

Lensman and Mayor are not trying to get me to pay to watch midgets fucking or brainwash me into a pyramid scheme... they are letting me know about industry related things including new programs that convert.

That said, even the two board owners here get it...

ps i like this smilie |buddy|

Surfn 2005-10-07 11:18 AM

I was never a StiffyCash or MayorsMoney affiliate. I did however have some sites on PornCity in the 90's when the Hun liked that host. That was 3 or 4 owners ago. I have been denied access to update for years. No one replies to my emails to any of the owners. But they find my old email address and try to pretend like nothing negative has happened. Not good customer/affiliate relations any way I look at it.

Thank you for clearing this up. I didn't know that Mayor was affiliated with Porn City. I didn't even know who Mayor was at all. Perhaps I should but I didn't. I'm sure that I gave this email address to Porn City.

It's just that I get emails and ICQs all the time from people I don't know saying things like "This is someone, long time no chat" and I think this is the first time it's been a legit email and not a spam. It also went to an email address that I use for boards.

Now it makes sense and thanks for the professional and accurate responce. Obviously you understand there's no reason to get defensive or sarcastic with your affiliates.

GG - I love you too but how many emails do you get that start out like this email did and how many of those are spam? I think this is the first one that wasn't spam.

Jim - Do you know how long it takes to call a company and complain? No way I'd call.

It is interesting to see how many people did take offense to the email. I did until Mayor_PC simply explained the facts and answered the question.

My bad.

He's the "Mayor" of Porn "City"....get it? :D

Greenguy 2005-10-07 02:54 PM

OH! If you liked the email, wait til you get the hand written letter in the snail mail |thumb

MrYum 2005-10-07 03:00 PM

Ramster...ya lucky bastard :D

I didn't get the email, but did get the cool little thumbdrive via snail mail a week or so ago. Along with what appears to be a hand written note. Thought it was a nice touch for a program I'd just signed up with :)

Also, very pleased with the numbers promoting their sites so far :)

If I HAD gotten the email...no big deal. I get hundreds a day and delete at will. The ones that do piss me off are the ones telling me I need a bigger dick! Cuz I DON'T...REALLY I don't!!! :D

Mayor_PC 2005-10-07 03:19 PM

I think you have me confused with someone else, up untill we terminated our free hosting program it will fully suppored 24X7 on our message board. Oh yea, and last time I checked porncity hasn't been sold once.

Also, if you reply to that email, you'll get me. Personally. or you can always ICQ me 6313737

If Brooke Skye is in the package I'll be happy because she's a hottie. I'm not sure that Nataliya will let me keep her but it's worth asking |greenguy| Maybe I can convince her that Brooke is an Au Pair and she's actually there to make Nataliya's life better.

Useless 2005-10-07 03:56 PM

I received that email. I didn't fucking like it. So there. Poo poo on all of you who love getting shit like that. If I sign up with Cocksucker Cash and Fuckface Bucks emails me to inform me about their new program - it's spam to me. How am I supposed to know that Governor McCheez owns both? I'm not about to be apologetic for feeling the same way SirMoby did when he got it and I retain the right to rebuke any attempt at chastizing me for not liking unsolicited bullshit email. It pisses me off that people feel they have some right to send you an email everytime a fresh wind passed between their buttocks just because you made the huge fucking mistake of signing up with anything they're involved with.

Jim, I've seen that same analogy used over and over again in the last couple of years and I still call it bullshit. You want to know why? It has never bothered me to receive the occasional flyer from local businesses or some idiot offering me supposedly better insurance rates. How often do you hear anyone complain about real world junk mail? Hardly ever. However, since the first kb of spam was sent, everyone has complained about it. It's cheap and we get bombarded with the shit. The bombardment is what made computer generated junk mail illegal.

You stay classy, San Diego.

I'm curious what people are defining as spam- stuff that you're sent after signing up for an affiliate program or board? I send an email to affiliates of my site every few months to remind them I exist and let them know I have new free content, is that spamming according to the folk here?
