What do members believe is the fastest growing Niche?

Looking to put a lot of effort into a new site, so would like to target it at a fast growing (newer) niche that is not likely to decline for a while. Any suggestions?

urb 2006-01-02 11:19 AM

By the time you read about it on the boards, the niche in question has probably almost past it's honeymoon period sell by date.

If you are going to put a lot of effort into something, it's probably better to pick a niche you enjoy.

Toby 2006-01-02 11:29 AM

Yup, just like the fishing report. When you hear about the hot spot to go, it means you should have been there yesterday.

Surfn 2006-01-02 11:36 AM

I created a couple of new niche this past summer that are doing real well. One sponsor has even jumped on the niche. I'm still not ready to say what they are. I may in a year or two. Of course by then I'll have several more newly created niche :D

Greenguy 2006-01-02 11:54 AM

I always liked the idea of building sites that you were personally interested in, as then it has a more real feel to it.

Mattinblack 2006-01-02 11:58 AM

Fair enuff... thanks for the heads up guys.

Kenny B! 2006-01-02 12:22 PM

Seems like the trend is going towards more extreme and off the wall content, there are some wacky folks out there!

I couldn't agree more. It will also be a niche you most likely are more knowledgable about, which will most likely be beneficial to your sales.

PR_Tom 2006-01-02 03:16 PM

I'd pick a niche you like as well, and add a sub-niche to it.

Like black girls? Make a black-anal site. Black-big tits, black-blowjob, black-dp, black-lesbian etc etc etc..

The market is tapped, but untapped.. something like that. A fringe type of thing.

urb 2006-01-02 05:39 PM

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works here, but does Sextracker know that you are using their site design Mattinblack?
http://ukescort.kwikfire.com/

??

I agree 100% if its a niche you like you will understand it better, which means better text, picking better photos/movies etc...

Sextracker has seen this design used several times Urb. I will use anything that works well and am not above copying and modification. I am in such illustrious company as IBM, McDonalds, Microsoft and most governments there!

What I do is not 'art' but making money. I had a previous design that did not perform so well, and have new design in the wings that hopefully will do better if I ever get time to finish it. If that does not work then I will step back to this one.

PS: if you look at Olympus- http://olympus.kwikfire.com you will see I do some original stuff as well!

No worries, I guess their site design is just public domain then?

Legally if people use a design without permission and there is no defence of copyright within a period (which varies from country to country in practice though I believe international law sets it at 12 months) then you lose that copyright.... as a designer you should know that one. If I had a dollar for every site that copied my original Top-Times escort site in the 80's then I would b rich! There is also a substantial grey area as to how much of a copy something has to be to infringe copyright.

For example if somebody copied this entire BB then so long as they
did not call it GG&J (they would be guilty of 'passing off' if they did) and GG&J did not mount a proper challenge in writing within 12 months they would get away with it unless they were in the same state/country as GG&J and that state happened to have different laws. Of course none of *us* would go there would we?

If they (sex tracker) complain and I dont believe they will because their reviewers have seen the site and there are other more blatant copies out there - a site on kinghosts I saw even had exactly the same buttons - plus I am plugging sextrackers products on site; then I will change it. I plan to change it as soon as I finish the new template set to go with my VB sitebuilder anyway since I think I have a design that works better.

LOL have passed your request onto Sherri, the lady who runs the non-net part of the enterprise. I expect she will throw a party if that happens and invite you over. By the way I am not responsible for putting the ugly looking git at the top of the listing - Sherri got him to pay through the nose for that placement and unfortunately he is happy with it though it has not done the sites conversion rates much good!

RawAlex 2006-01-03 10:45 AM

Mattinblack, I don't think it is a question of "what you can legally get away with" but more a moral issue. I can clearly see where you have taken graphical images (which have a lifelong copyright as a work of art) and have lightly modified the original to reflect your site name instead of sextracker.

The implication here is if this is what you would do for your own public face, what should we think of the rest of your business practices?

Think about it.

I guess I'm totally ignorant of the law.

Thanks for putting me straight Matt.

RawAlex 2006-01-03 11:37 AM

Matt, you might want to spend some time over here:

http://www.patent.gov.uk/copy/indetail/ownership.htm

I think you may be confusing "trademark" and "copyright". Failure to protect a trademark or tradename can cause it's loss. Certainly a different animal.

Alex

RawAlex 2006-01-03 11:41 AM

Perhaps you might want to consult the WIPO website...

http://www.wipo.int/copyright/en/faq/faqs.htm#rights

I can't seem to find much about 12 month expiries or "uncontested" uses... seems to me you get upwards to 70 years to start with and more beyond that.

Please... help me out here... show me how you figure you can steal from others with impunity.

Alex

Geezer 2006-01-03 11:44 AM

Copyright, unless it's changed, last for 30 years after the death of the person who owns the copyright, or there abouts.

urb 2006-01-03 12:28 PM

Thanks for the information Alex.

So basically, what Matt said in this post was not true?

RawAlex 2006-01-03 12:31 PM

urb, I cannot find anything anywhere to support the notion of "uncontested copyright". I don't say true or untrue, but I can't find anything to support it, so I asked for some links or information to work from.

Alex

urb 2006-01-03 12:40 PM

Thanks Alex :)

I'm here to learn, so if anyone can post a link to any information regarding uncontested copyright laws and web design, then please help us fill in the blanks.

Useless 2006-01-03 01:09 PM

Being that I am one of the few real geniuses in the business :D I will share with you my bit o' knowledge in these arena. RawAlex is correct. Matt is wrong.|thumb

Copyrights are inherent in any work. If at any time you can show that someone has copied your work, they can and should be sued. As mentioned previously, copyrights typically expire after a set period of years after death. This varies.

Trademarks are different. If you use someone's trademark and they don't contest it AFTER learning of it's use, then the thief is not liable for damages. I know of no set time period because the court has to decide if the trademark holder would have known previously of the infringement and whether they had chosen not to pursue the defendant/cocksucker.

Examples of uncontested, yet horribly infringed, trademarks are xerox and kleenex. A lot of people, even corporations refer to making copies as xeroxing. A lot of people say "get me a kleenex" when they want a tissue, no matter what brand it is. Both Xerox and Kleenex have allowed this to happen because it's damned good branding and advertising. Most trademark infringements hurt business though, rather than helping it.

Trust me, if you started referring to every tough link list owner/reviewer as a 'DangerDave', he'd hunt you down. :D

Mattinblack 2006-01-03 01:47 PM

I consider my ass well and truly chewed...the Trademark thing was in the back of my mind and did indeed get confused with copyright in my scurry for self defence!

The site will change soon anyhow.|bow| Alex and Useless

As regards business practices maybe I should be flying the skull and crossbones like urb....

Matt
You really didn't steal Sextracker's design and think that was alright, did you?

You seem to have shown yourself as a thief without any remorse. The site should be taken down now and only put back online when you stop using the stolen design and graphics. Not, "The site will change soon anyhow." As you claim in your post above.

Since the Jolly Roger was designed and published before 1923, I'm not breaking any laws using it. It's been my avatar for many years.

But I can assure you that everything I design is hand coded from scratch.

Why did I call you out on your use of stolen templates? Because it's better for you to hear it from someone neutral, than the legal department of a company.

More reading for you... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DMCA

I agree. Squirting comes to mind.

Papa 2006-01-04 09:00 AM

And the topic was ?
Sad, it was going well.

Mattinblack 2006-01-04 10:04 PM

Lmao ... OK guys if you would like to re-examine http://ukescort.kwikfire.com you will find that after 24 hours solid coding it is now totally different.

Any similarities between http://ukescort.kwikfire.com and any other site, living or dead are purely coincidental.

No Pixcels were harmed during the making of this site.

PS.... you can get back to the post topic now if you aint too pissed off.

I will start you off... heres the niches I am considering:

Black Boobs, Black Lesbian, Squirting - seeing as one site I have is already accidentally no 4 for "squirtinggirl"..... Heyu if I could find the content I would open up a new niche for ebony lesbian amputee dwarves...

Halfdeck 2006-01-04 10:33 PM

Cleo's new avatar reminds me of a niche I'd like...young nuns.
