Build galleries or link direct to tours in blog posts

Peoples,

I'm not a 100% sure I'm posting this in the right place as I'm just new to this board -- hence the newbie section sounded good.

My questions is for the adult blog gurus out there.

Generally speaking do people find higher conversons building their own galleries or just providing links to your sponsors tour/gallerys?

Apologies if this is something that comes up alot. But thats what makes a newbie right :D

Toby 2006-01-10 08:59 AM

I find that I can build much more effective galleries than the free hosted galleries for most of the sponsors I promote. However, that wasn't the case when I first started.

odysseus 2006-01-10 09:43 AM

It's your blog. Do both. Sometimes I link to the tour with good text. Sometimes to a free site. Sometimes to a FHG. Usually I link to the FHG and the tour in the same post. That's what I like about blogs. I don't have to follow anyone else's rule's on my blog, and am free to experiment with what works best for me. Hell, I've even written posts with no links out, but not very often.

Lemmy 2006-01-10 10:31 AM

Most often I link to both a FHG or one of my freesites and the tour in a post. Makes sense to give them as many choices as possible to get them to go where you want them to go.

m0nk3yb0y 2006-01-10 10:34 AM

Tahx guys for the input. I just put up a post with my own hand built gallery and a few links to some FHGs.
Its mix and match FHG movies Vs My own hand made Pic post. Who will win. Tune in this time tommorrow to find out!!

Man that was wack. I think I may need sleep. :)

Exactly, with a blog your open to total experimentation on whats going to work the best and the whole gammut of tools that are available to work with.

Since you can create your own rules for galleries, why not try the tgp2 style galleries. Pics on html and only having 5 pics gives you lots of room for text.

I could put 100 pics on a gallery page and still have as much room for text as I wanted. Why not just say 'see sig'?

Cause that would be too obvious!

Hahaha, you guys are really funny. I had my sig for a while and I will take it off if it makes you feel better. I've been around for a long time, ran link sites tgps, tpg2s and now I run some successful blogs. I just wanted to share some insights on creating galleries that produce clicks.
Sometimes I link to tours also.

bunky2u 2006-01-14 04:56 AM

I am doing something a bit different. While this may be considered a pic post/movie post/ whatever, I am generally linking to the tours after displaying one pic, one movie. Some sponsors have great profile pages so I use those instead of the "normal" tour... anyway enough said, the link is: http://www.strippedgalleries.net/

any and all opinions are welcome. (even the crappy ones)

Jimmer 2006-01-14 10:46 AM

I think that you are doing a good job, one pic, lots of text. If the person you have a pic of is in the tour, that helps too.
Put some technotroni tags in there too.

bunky2u 2006-01-14 12:43 PM

I am already getting lots of traffic from them; how, where should I include Technotroni tags in my posts?

odysseus 2006-01-14 01:01 PM

I use this plugin for technorati tags and it works well.

http://www.broobles.com/scripts/simpletags/

I haven't tested it yet on wp2.0 yet, but I have it running on a 1.5 installation at http://www.camsexworld.com/blog/ Check a post, and view the source. You'll see the tags are there, and get indexed at technorati, but there is no anchor text for a traffic leak. I hacked the plugin a bit to remove that. It works out well.

I understand that technorati also automatically tags you according to category name as well when you ping them, so name your categories well.

odysseus 2006-01-14 01:07 PM

Oops. Sorry, I just assumed you were running WP, bunky. Here is a good article on using technorati tags. About half way down you'll see a sub heading "Invisible Tags", that's where I got the idea to mess with the aforementioned plugin. It can all be done manually if you can't extend whatever software you are using. Make a text file with tags you commonly use, then just copy and paste what you need into each post and ping away.

I use that tag program also, what code did you take out?

odysseus 2006-01-14 04:01 PM

I can't remember what I took out. I'm not much of a coder, but rather systematically broke someone else's hard work until it did what I wanted. I zipped it up if you want to take a look at it.

Like I said, it works fine for me on 1.5, but looking at the author's website, it seems there are some changes I'll have to read about before putting it in a 2.0 blog. If there are any issues with it not working on your blog, I'd check the author's website.

The zip file is at http://www.superpimpdesigns.com/misc/simpletags.zip

There also seems to be some debate as to if you'll be penalized by technorati for using no anchor text. I haven't seen any sign of that yet in my stats, but I think when I upgrade to 2.0, I may try hiding it with CSS, just to be on the safe side.

Jimmer 2006-01-14 04:11 PM

Thanks, I like your site too. I've upgraded to wordpress 2 and have no problems with the tags.

http://drupal.org/ is what I am using to run both http://www.deletedbrain.com/ and http://www.strippedgalleries.net/ very handy... =D

Thanks for the compliments, Jimmer. That's going to end up being a blog for webmaster traffic, and the online face of the adult aspect of my business. I just got the template done this past week, and now I'm having problems finding good plugins to do certain things for it as it's running 2.0.

I've read very good things about drupal, bunky. I haven't used it but I hear it's very good.

BTW, sorry to have steered this thread off topic.

Lemme pipe up and 2nd what Jimmer said. I build TGP2 galleries also, and link to them, and the SE boost is good :) TGP2 galleries are great spider bait to begin with (for UW, "see sig" under PPN WM Area, I have written a couple articles on TGP2ing). It's just another tool to pull in SE hits, and goes quite well with blogging. Now, to post some blog entries and then go cuddle some more in front of the DVD player...

[THREAD_HIJACK] Who ya cuddling with Ana? =D [/THREAD_HIJACK]

more on the topic of galleries... I do link to them, it all depends on what the sponsor is providing for promo materials. BangBros has kick ass profile pages for each girl for all their sites it seems, I like to use those, telling the sufer that there is "an awesome teaser is on the models profile page." If a profile page is not available from a sponsor, I will link to the tour. The galleries have to be pretty good for me to link to them, instead of the tour.

Interesting and helpful info being thrown around here. I'm starting to feel that this adult web thing is alot about finding the ultimate text hook. Typical marketing 101 I guess.

If its not being too rude. may I ask what sorta stats you guys are pulling through your pages?

Oh yeah and ana can you post a link to those articles on tgp2 galleries?

anasporn 2006-01-18 06:58 AM

Click on my sig "PPN Webmaster Area" and scroll down until ya find them :) I have had an idea rolling around my brain about writing another one...actually two now...maybe three...hell, I get so many ideas on stuff to write!

anasporn 2006-01-18 11:12 AM

It's slow for me, but I am still pulling it up. Lemme holler at my hosting company about the lack of speed.

I most of the time pick a image out of the gallery, make a small version of it and include that one in my log entry. Next i put a link under the image that points to the glallery.
Of course don't forget to type some text. |loony|

It varies from niche to niche...

I made a pregnant gallery featuring a Latina witha very hairy pussy (over a year ago) and that caused all sorts of pregnant traffic to come my way. around the same time, I also had made a variety of galleries targeting latinas and ebony traffic so the result is any post with a FHG, link or other to that sponsor... the ebony and Latina niches get more clickthroughs and ultimately more sales.

If you are looking to build up a blog quickly, use FHG's but wen you have the time, don't be lazy... make your own galleries and SEO them to the hilt.

I recommend that you make a link to an model profile page, if your sponsor has them.

walrus 2006-01-18 01:10 PM

For me, I just try to change things up...all the time but how I promote a site really is dependant upon the tools available from the sponsor. I do more and larger pictures than most blogs. Sometimes I might link them to a hosted gallery and/or free site, sometimes, I'll link them to a video preview, sometimes I'll link them to a larger version of the same picture. Sometimes I'll hook them to a gallery or free site that I've built (although I don't do that a lot since I dont submit either) especially if the sponsor doesn't host galleries (oh and I am lazy too).

Since a blog is dynamic in nature, I try to enhance that and make it a different experience every time a surfer visits my page. I also look at other blogs and try to find wayts to differentiate myself from them both in design and presentation.

Does it work...I don't know but it definately makes it more fun.

I think that is the ultimate hook for a blog...Walrus, I split a side laughing every time I go to your original blog. The "fun" element shines through, and that is what I try to convey on mine also. Like I often say on my blog..."Sex is FUN, shouldn't PORN be fun too?" |bananna|

walrus 2006-01-18 07:46 PM

Ana, thank you, thank you, thank you...its so nice when a woman actually gets it.

Yes, if you cant have fun looking at pictures of naked ladies.....

anasporn 2006-01-19 01:51 PM

Walrus...keep in mind I have a truly warped sense of humor LOL but your "trying to be politically correct" post has to be your best for staight up hilarious!

walrus 2006-01-19 10:03 PM

That one is definately in my personal top 10 favorites but there is one paragraph in there that I can promise would send many webmasters of the female persuasion to grabbing their pitch forks and looking for the tar and feathers.
