Cheney accidentally shoots fellow hunter
http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/02/....ap/index.html
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot and injured a man during a weekend quail hunting trip in Texas, his spokeswoman said Sunday. Harry Whittington, 78, was "alert and doing fine" after Cheney sprayed Whittington with shotgun pellets on Saturday at the Armstrong Ranch in south Texas, said property owner Katharine Armstrong. Armstrong said Cheney turned to shoot a bird and accidentally hit Whittington. She said Whittington was taken to Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Cheney's spokeswoman, Lea Anne McBride, said the vice president was with Whittington, a lawyer from Austin, Texas, and his wife at the hospital on Sunday afternoon. |

Man this happen yesterday and today its breaking news LOL I just seen in on MSNBC and they are running it as breaking news LOL
|
I haven't seen this administration in the news lately. Maybe this was their latest ploy :)

Accidentally shooting a fellow hunter is about the most shameful thing you can do, among gun handlers. A true sign of a faker. Even if the other guy stepped into the field of fire, a real gun handler would have known that was a possibility and have been watching for it.
Gun people around the country are groaning and hanging their heads. |
You know it's so rare you hear those 2 words in the same sentense, "CHENEY" and "SHOT" I was so let down when I heard the rest of the story :(
|
he had weapons of mass destruction |huh

I've never been quail hunting but when I've discussed it with 2 hunters trying to get me to go they always told me that when you russle the birds to fly you only shot at them if they're at leat 20 or 30 (I can't remember) angle to make sure that you don't shoot a human.
See what happens when you give these guys weapons. |
Well, the guy is an attorney...
Perhaps he reminded Cheney they broke the law and Dick couldn't take it no more then shot him... Should be weapon with mass destruction, shotgun. Ben |
Be vewy vewy qwiet... Dick's hunting wawyers!
|
Funny that the information took a day to get out. And, they were on a hunting ranch, hunting wing clipped birds. They drove up to the killing field.
|
He didn't have license to hunt either. Way to go :)

I think this was serious warning to everyone that has dirt on him. |
I like how the ranch owner was acting like this is no big deal and actually saying "It happens" and then said she has some shot in her legs.
CNN just said the Sheriff is saying it was not Cheney’s fault since the other guy approached him from the FRONT with the Sun behind him which was blinding Cheney. Since when is it ok to shoot blinded on a hunt? I’m thinking someone was drinking and that’s why there was such a long delay between the shooting and the release of the news. |
I love that a 70+ yr old MAN was mistaken for a 3lb Bird..
that's pretty fucking funny in itself. |jester| Quote:

She said; "I'm not a hunter but I do believe your suppose to look at what your shooting". |huh Yep, sounds like dicks hunting attorneys, hope he don't pop up in Denver. |club| Ben |

My bad!
He did have a hunting license. But not a special permit to hunt birds and judges :D The guy he shot got a minor heart attack today :( http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/che...890762095.html |
Best line I've heard out of this was
"I'd rather go hunting with Cheney then hitch a ride with Kennedy" ;) |
Lets say his hunting buddy dies. Will Cheney really be charged for murder?

I wonder if they measured this guys blood alcohol level at the hospital.
I got my first shotgun when I was 9 years old and have gone quail hunting hundreds if not thousands of times, when your flushing quail out the sun is always to your back ALWAYS! why because even frightened and even with a pea sized brain a quail isn't going to fly blindly in the direction of a setting sun. Quail, dove and pheasant hunting aren't like duck geese or pidgeon hunting where your ass is parked in a blind and your shooting at birds that are flying over head, quail are on the ground and you either flush them out with a dog or by walking through the brush. As is typical of this administration we are not getting the whole story |
There are too many basic rules when quail hunting to accidentally shoot a man in this way. Even the most right wing idiots will have to fess up to that sooner or later.
What's most interesting was CNN announced that the owner of the ranch is a lobbyist for a company that got $5.2 Billion US in Iraq contracts. Second only to Haliburton the company where the VP still owns stock options. It's at an almost commical stage. The amount of denial that it takes to say this administration is even remotely legit is on the edge of absolute lunacy. |
Some people are never satisfied. For years I have been listening to Americans complaining about Lawyers and saying that the government should do something about them, then when your Vice President makes a start does anyone thank him? :)

Administration Presses Novel Effort for Tort Reform
Cheney leads effort to attack lawyers Kingsville, Texas (AP) -- Impatient with stalled efforts to close the courts to litigants, the Bush Administration literally fired the first shot in its groundbreaking "No Lawyer Left Standing" initiative. Vice-President Cheney, hunting on a private lawyer ranch near Kingsville, Texas, bagged an impressive buck (Harry Whittington, UT Law '50). Under the new program, hunters may take one white shoe in-house lawyer or three outside lawyers daily. There is no limit for trial lawyers. "We've just got to thin the herd," said the Vice-President. "We've tried tort reform and caps on damages, but people are still suing." Cheney added, "It's easy and fun. In Texas, you can shoot in almost any direction and hit a lawyer." |
