A fine Oscar Monday to all :)

I have no idea why but for the first time in my life, my wife and I watched the entire Oscar show :) Not really because we recorded about an hour of it before we started it so we shot through the acceptance speaches but, we saw it all.

Anyway, feeling good today after a rough weekend of headaches and other sinus based stuff. I should be around all day.

bluemoney 2006-03-06 07:27 AM

Good morning all |waves| I can relate to the sinus problems Jim, I've been fighting them my whole life. Hope everyone has a great day :D

Greenguy 2006-03-06 07:46 AM

Morning! |waves|

I didn't watch any of the show :D As usual, I only saw a handful of the movies (Crash & March Of The Penguins) so it didn't really matter to me. My day consisted of me watching 2 old movies (Silkwood & Drugstore Cowboy) & 1 new one (Lords Of War) as well as catching up on some TiVo'd shows.

I've been relatively stress free since Saturday afternoon, but that'll all change as soon as the contractor's show up |banghead|

Simon 2006-03-06 07:51 AM

Good morning world |waves|

I didn't watch them last night but my dvr caught them, so I have the Oscars on in the background this morning. Sounds like John Stewart is doing a decent job.

Happy Monday to all. Didn't watch the Oscars - never do.

Surfn 2006-03-06 07:54 AM

Good Morning Folks |waves|

I didn't watch any network TV at all last night yet again :)

GG if you mean Lord of War with Nick Cage I bought that. It's not his best but it's ok. :)

Another day of running errands here, enjoy your day |boobies|

terry 2006-03-06 07:57 AM

Good Morning Everyone!

Didnt watch any tv over the weekend.. but there are a few new dvd releases that Im going to pick up.

Have a great day!

Ramster 2006-03-06 07:58 AM

I don't watch shows like that usually and didn't last night either.

Good Morning.

Torn Rose 2006-03-06 08:06 AM

We watched it on DVR just to see Stewart. He was pretty good, and the opening with the past host’s saying "not me" was pretty funny.

The only one I can say I am happy about winning this year is George Clooney, he is one of my favorite actors. I like Philip Seymour Hoffman, but did he really stretch himself playing Scotty.. er... Capote?

Fonz 2006-03-06 08:07 AM

Morning all,

I watched the first hour of the oscars before I fell asleep (3 AM or so).
I also went to see Big Momma's House 2 yesterday, strange that movie didn't get any oscar nominations :D

Greenguy 2006-03-06 08:12 AM

Surfn - yes, Lord Of War. The whole thing with Kareem from Oz & his backward sayings - Bath Of Blood & Lord Of War - had me all confused :D

Nick played a real person who actually did all those things and more. Far more interesting than the movie. But life almost always is :D

Cleo 2006-03-06 08:40 AM

Morning :)
It can't be Monday we just had one a week ago.

Sunny and beautiful here today with a temp this morning of 65F/18C and it should get into the eighties this afternoon.
|sun
Going to the gym once I'm awake and then taking my car in to be serviced. Other then that not a lot going on today. I'll probably go over to the mall and do a little shopping while they have my car rather then sitting at the car place.

First cup of espresso is now being served.

dareutwo 2006-03-06 09:07 AM

Morning all -
I feel like I spent my weekend in the truck, driving back and forth to the cities.
A lot of crap to get caught up on today, I'll be around :)

MrMaryLou 2006-03-06 09:46 AM

Good Morning All :)

docholly 2006-03-06 09:54 AM

I was invited to an Oscar party last night but stayed home instead.

I was mad Sin City at least didn't get nominated for Art Direction or Cinematography. Just a visually beautiful, in my opinion, and unique movie.

I was happy that Tsotsi won best foreign film.

and I fell asleep before the best movie announcement. |yawn|

Not much today.. just more walking the aisle which is far better, tho less pay, than walking the streets. |boobies|

|waves| have a good one!!

Erick G 2006-03-06 10:30 AM

You sound like my wife. She feels like no American knows how to make a movie. I had to get 2 netflix accounts just so I could watch a movie without having to read it. :)

yeah i'm not really a fan of foreign films except a very few but this was a good one, tough subject etc.. so I'm glad it won.

My wife loves anything Hindi. And, anything from Japan or China.

Jesus, she had a sick movie from Japan where the first thing I saw was a guy having sex with his daughter. He then raped his monther and and killed her. Once he got her home to cut her up, he somehow got turned on and had to have her again. He ended up getting stuck to his dead mother like dogs sometimes do. So, what is a guy to do??? He grabbed a knife and sliced off his dick. This was a wonderful family film :) Some of these foreign films make anything on the web seem tame.

While our morals say that this is disgusting, it should be pointed out that (sadly) many many people have sex with members of their own families, the difference being that it is rarely talked about except at criminal trials. Many Japanese movies are warts and all sort of affairs, showing and probing subject matter that would be less than pleasant for some.

My personal favorite japanese movie is Ichi the Killer. In this movie you will find self mutliation, forced sex, beatings, rape, torture (the hot oil on the guy hanging from the meat hook is a particularly painful looking deal) and so on and so on. Things that in our culture are beyond what any american movie might touch, but, well...

http://www.i-mockery.com/minimocks/i...er/default.php

Karen (a bar girl) telling the story about her neighbor's dog (half in japanese, half in english which can throw some people off, especially since she really is chinese not even japanese) is classic. The gore is turned up to 11, and the characters appear to like it.

Good luck.

Alex

Morning! Didn't watch the Oscars last night, didn't watch any tv as is normal for me.

Have a busy day ahead, have a good Monday (blah) all!

stuveltje 2006-03-06 01:18 PM

RawAlex 2006-03-06 01:18 PM

Just add this, I looked through my old bookmarks, and found:

http://www.the-associates.co.uk/imag...ithekiller.MPG

It really doesn't even begin to cover it... think japanese manga (the original of this is a comic) and it makes way more sense.

Alex

Jim 2006-03-06 01:59 PM

I agree with you Alex. Vickie got a horror movie from Japan and she just couldn't watch it after the first 5 mins. Usually, unless someone is getting a shot :) nothing bothers her. But this gave her nightmares and just scared the shit out of her.

But when I saw in the other movie the guy having sex with his dead mother and then getting stuck, I couldn't help by saying, "You have got to be shitting me". :) Never would we see a movie like that made in America.

pornrex 2006-03-06 02:18 PM

Good afternoon! :)
Took the weekend off because I wrneched my back trying to do more than I should.|loony| Feeling better and will be back in the swing of things today.

Unfortunately, I did not watch the Oscars last night. Can't stand Jon Stewart. Anyhow, I just heard that the "Best Animated Feature Film of the Year" went to WALLACE & GROMIT IN THE CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT. Gotta see that one now.|thumb And judging by all the hype from the radio pundits it looks like Kong, Crash and Brokeback Mountain are must see films in the near future.

I saw one a couple of years ago that had this manchurian type figure in all this beautiful green cloth seated on some pillows while his jacket billowed about him. He's talking away, cutting fruit etc.. suddenly his long jacket thing lifts and like a 6 or 7 yr old boy is let out and replaced by another.. apparently sucking his dick while they are in there..

NOW that gave me nightmares..
