ARS login problems...

Anyone else having problems logging in? My old bookmark doesn't work. When I load the main URL I sign in and it gives me 404 . Even when I tried to get an email for lost password that page went 404. They are still paying me via ePass though :D

I would like to be able to check where the sales are coming from though |huh

Greenguy 2006-03-24 09:18 AM

I just logged in via my referral code & it looks to be working.

Surfn 2006-03-24 09:29 AM

The last time it worked for me was over a month ago...

Like I said I even tried this http://adultrevenueservice.com/ and it returns a 404. When I try to login.

This http://stats.adultrevenueservice.com/ is the bookmark where I've logged in the last couple of years. Anywhoo I guess I'll just wait.

Cleo 2006-03-24 09:45 AM

Just logged in without any problem.

Simon 2006-03-24 09:49 AM

Loads fine for me too.

EvilFubAr 2006-03-24 12:10 PM

Surfn,

Do you have norton installed? Nortan likes to add our domain to your windows host file. Our site isnt down, and didnt have any downtime. Can you try another pc to rule out some issues? But check for spyware and norton first.

I don't use Norton. ARS is the only bookmark I can't use so I doubt it's this pc. I've run Spy Sweep many times routinely and it shows I'm not infected.

EvilFubAr 2006-03-24 02:57 PM

Well, I just logged into your account with no issues. Can you run a trace route for me then? You seem to be the only one having this issue, I do think its related to your pc or connection to ARS.

What ISP do you use?
and can you please paste to me what your windows host file reads?

This is what I get:

The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

Please try the following:

Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
See if your Internet connection settings are being detected. You can set Microsoft Windows to examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings (if your network administrator has enabled this setting).
Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.
Select Automatically detect settings, and then click OK.
Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have installed.
If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
Click the Back button to try another link.

Surfn,

The hosts file (no extension) is located in the following folder

WinXP: Windows/System32/drivers/etc/

Win2K: WINNT/System32/drivers/etc/

And would that explain why this one site doesn't load?

Toby 2006-03-24 03:42 PM

yes, if the domain(s) you are trying to reach are included in that file.

There are several files and the one named hosts doesn't have ARS or the full name listed.

Toby 2006-03-24 03:59 PM

Too bad, that would have been a simple fix. :(

Surfn, have you tried with a couple of different browsers, or are you just using the one where you have a bookmark saved?

I have no idea what difference that makes, but we always ask that question of everyone who has trouble accessing member content.

No I haven't. I don't think I should have to since every other bookmark and site that I review works fine. :D

Ok, Mozilla refused to connect. This is what I get in FireFox:

Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at stats.adultrevenueservice.com.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Again the rest of my bookmarks work fine...

I've had a similar problem with FlashCash for over a year. If I go in by proxy I end up at "rhino.com" something.

BTW, this is the bookmark I use for the board and then go from there.

The same error I posted above using the link you just posted.

How about www.arsri.com ?
Thats one I have that redirects to the new one. Works for me though

It did redirect me to the main login with the same end result.

I really don't need access other than to poke around my referrals.

PR_Tom 2006-03-24 05:17 PM

Maybe you should delete every cookie possible relating to ARS. I remember on one of the upgrades over the years, I had to nuke every single one before something or other would work right again.
Not trying to be vague, I just forget what it was, lol! Was cookie related though in my case.

When I run a trace route to adultrevenuservice.com, it's timing out after [213.248.90.86]

Could you run a trace route and paste the results please?

213.248.90.86 is a EU ip, so I have no idea how you can get that. :)

If there is anything at all below 127.0.0.1 then your host file has been tampered with.

So please just run that trace route for me so I can see what is going on. You should call your isp and tell them you cant reach the site. Our servers have been up and running with no downtime for a long time. So far I am at a loss as to why you cannot get to our domain.

Unable to locate the address 66.115.148.25 at this time.

Linkster 2006-03-24 08:03 PM

Surfn - if you run Webroots Spy Sweeper it will also put an entry in the hosts file - the entry will look like this:
127.0.0.1 stats.adultrevenueservice.com #SpySweeperCASS
also it puts one in for AFF:
127.0.0.1 banners.adultfriendfinder.com #SpySweeperCASS

there should only be one hosts file in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC directory normally and it would be hosts without an extension (no .txt or anything) and can be opened with notepad or wordpad

Depending on your settings in Spy Sweeper anytime you restart or shut down the computer it will rewrite the hosts file and insert those lines that you may edit out to be able to get to ars etc.

I see what you are saying on dozens of domains but nothing for adultrevenueservice.com. Nothing even close.

MrYum 2006-03-24 09:08 PM

Damn Surfn...that's an odd one :(

Hmmm...you say you do see dozens of other domains in your host file? Don't think you should...the sample Evil posted earlier should be all you see in there. Perhaps your host file has been screwed with and that's the root of the problem. You may indeed have picked up a bug of some sort :(

Having recently clensed someone else's computer a few times...some of these little nasties are only noticable at certain times...doing certain things. Might explain this kind of odd behavior on your system.

Those are typical for SpyRoot. If other sites or programs showed any sign of acting differently then I would have to agree I might have some sort of bug. But it is only with this one domain. Nothing else is affected.

Gotcha...yea, I'm not familiar with SpyRoot...so didn't know it did that. Crap...computers can be such a pain sometimes |club|

Can you post the full trace log, you can hide your ip if you want.

Here is the answer we got from the company that owns the above ip which does NOT host ARS servers at all. Basically 66.115.148.25 leads to National Net, ARS does not host any servers at Nat Net. You must be having some issue down the pipe leading to the wrong place.

"I have looked over the data we have for those domains (DNS and other wise) as well as the DNS records elsewhere on the internet (Earthlink, Comcast, Etc.), and everything says that the domain (and sub-domain) is at FlyingCroc. Any problem the gentleman is having is a local one (especially if he is resolving that name to the IP you gave me)."

You probably should call your ISP and tell them you cant reach those domains. I also think you should run at least 4 different spyware programs. I know I have to use at least 3 when I get something installed.

Microsoft has a great anti spyware, I also suggest Spybot Search and destroy. Also check your pc for files created or modified on 2/04/06 which was the last day you logged into ARS.

I dont know either, and when I checked it a second time last evening, it was normal and reached flyingcroc fine.
Maybe the first time I made a typo, since I can't make it repeat now. Seems fine.

It is not a spyware or malware problem. As I mentioned before I do use Spybot Search and Destroy daily.

If you use Spybot Search and Destroy only, I guarantee you that you have spyware on your computer. I run 3 different ones on my computer and there are always some that Spybot misses that others catch.

My three favs are SpyDoctor, Spybot Search and Destroy and Lavasoft Adaware.

Years back I used to work for an online for a company in California. I could NOT get to the jobsite via my ISP. I tried everything possible, I did traceroutes, everything imaginable, but could not get on it. It ended up being my local ISP had banned that website for some reason. I had them release the ban, it was a mainstream site. I would do as suggested and perhaps contact your local ISP and see if they can figure out the problem. It could be something as simple as what I just mentioned.
