Banners that make sound suck slimy green donkey dicks
My computer is hooked into my stereo system, an expensive, very powerful system that can shake my neighbor's windows. :D
So I'm sufing along listening to a very load Dave Seaman mix when all of a sudden some cheap ass sound effect comes blaring out of my speakers kicking in the overloads. |angry| Does this make me go looking for the banner that made this sound? No it makes me just close all my browser windows before its next hideous sound effect so the only thing it does it make sure that I never see the banner. Even when I'm not listening to music I'm usually on the phone doing business and the last thing I want a client to hear is "I've got the most exciting web site…" :( |
I agree 100%, Nothing worse then PC's making sounds you are not wanting them to make, I HATE that, and 90% of the time I’m dead tired and just chilling when I hit one so it scares the crap outta me.
Now ESPN has commercials on them with sound, so when I go look for a score I get talking about crap I don't want to buy. But I'm sure in the next year that's all we will see and hear... commercials everyone. commercials online|raygun| |

I fuckin' HATE those damned flash banners that have sound when you accidently mouseover them. I've got a pretty damned good speaker setup on my workstation too and it scares the living shit out of both me and Mishi when I mouseover one of those bastards.

Man 'o Man... grab the tissues, are we really crying about Sound in banners? Common now it shows that we are moving forward, Advertisments with sound on ESPN, Talking Banners, etc, this is all a wonderfull thing, it shows we are growing. |bananna|

The biggest problem with banners with sound is those who work from home have to worry about their kids being nearby.

what if on an accidental mouse over the sound all of a sudden - seemed to come from nowhere and it was a LOUD door knocking sound and then the voice of a stern man saying: "Open up.. this is the police..." Even though I've no reason to fear the police... if that happened - I think I truely would have a heart attack and slump over into the floor... knocking down my work station... spilling my hot tea... and my large glass of water... probably choking to death as well on my favorite chewing gum the green package of the eclipse gum... the spearmint flavor... I'd probably break at least 2 of my long fingernails in the fall... and rug burn my knees... and maybe even pull my keyboard and mouse to the floor right along with me... the mouse pad (with flamingos on it ) would probably come to rest on my ass in the air... so... if that should ever happen... someone please... check my monitor... find the site that my browser window is resting on... and kick the shit out of that webmaster for moi... unlessin' of course it was something I did as a prank to pull on all of you all... in that case... nebbermind... ~Bell |
More than banners with sound I hate those sites that have some stupid midi file playing. Like Cleo, all our computers are switched to a powerful stereo set. I like to play music while working or surfing. If I don't work I often search sites that have info about old bands or artists whose old songs I have digitalised from old vinyl records. I want to read the bios and check discographies and I hate it if at the same time I have to listen some midi file. Usually they play LOUD - I have to shut my mp3 jukebox and edit volume...|pissed|

As we are talking about banners - I hate those banners that are normal size - 465x60 - but when you mouseover they open a BIG ad. I hate them!

Yeah it makes me definitely not want to promote sponsors using those lame sound banners.
ESPECIALLY the ones who use unlicensed sounds or song clips. No doubt the same program owners would not approve of using stolen content to push their sites, yet they do it to us with audio banners. Its sad that its almost 2004 and some adult webmasters still just can't follow basic rules of business. As in don't steal other's digital media. |
How many times ahve you gone to check out a sponsor site and heard music, noice and chicks talking? These companies spent a lot of time on that but how many of you leave almost immediately if not sooner?
I know that when I hear the sould I go away pretty quickly. Great marketing isn't it? |

True story…
The scar is almost gone from visiting a content store a few months ago that thought it would be cool to add sound effects to their new fancy menus. One of my cats was sitting in my lap at the time and must have thought that some large animal was coming after them because when I moused over the menu my cat dug his claws deep into my leg and took off running. I was on ICQ with the owner of the store at the time giving him feedback on the new design, sounds are now gone. LOL. |
LMAO.. I've got a secret website just for you...LMAO.. that's sextracker/money tree. I have a dialer on a dick pic site from like 3 yrs ago.. that is still floating out there somewhere on geocities.. i took all the dick pics guys submitted to me, picked 10 of the best stuck it on a site with a few sponsors and floated it around with click cash.. i can't even remember the password or the name or the email attached to it but every once in a while i'll get a check from moneytree or a click cash from there. LMAO.. oh man..
as far as playing musical banners.. i wish sponsors would off at least one.. nicely done with NO flashing, no movement etc.. in their offerings of banner. sometimes it's just not a good fit to have HUGE TITS flashing at you boldly in red. Bell: That was too funny.. |
actually... I am a sound junkie...
but I don't want it coming at me unexpectedly in a potentially non-compatible surrounding or circumstance situation... I would enjoy finding a sponsor that had either some banners, ads or galleries with sound files there and clickable by the joe surfer that chooses to click that SOUND option... in a gallery they could match up with what's IN the picture... or each one build upon the previous one in sort of a short story tease... or applicable to the pic or ad - SOUND sound effects.. perhaps with a text link that could go below the picture on the sponsors FHG that gives the surfer the option to click to hear what was going on as that picture was being taken... or hear what that girl was thinking as the picture was being taken... or to hear her tease joe surfer into clicking another link to be found on that page... maybe clicking the picture of the big red lips - that would say something like I am now going to take you to the page where you can join to come in here and see MORE of me... and have that lip click take surfer to the join page after the sound played... or even have a section INSIDE the paysite where the girls are adding new sound files daily so we can market it that way... balloon sites... sounds of baloons (they DO make sounds and not just popping sounds...)... tight jean sites... sounds of the zipper being pulled up or down... high heel sites... sounds of the high heels up close and personal walking on different surfaces... girls narrating photos in sucsession... etc... ~Bell |
