Fairly big porn arrests in fla - interesting...

A sponsor operating in florida - pensacola - arrested on racketeering charges...

"...the men are believed to be at the heart of the operation that revolved around a Web site with as many as 5,000 registered subscribers who, for $30 a month, can view pornographic films featuring group sex.

The films were made at four houses in Pensacola, a house in Pace and at five hotels in Escambia County, Assistant State Attorney Russ Edgar said. Other settings included Interstate 10 and Interstate 110, wooded areas, vehicles and other public places, he said.

The two men, both arrested Friday, were charged with racketeering -- conducting a criminal enterprise by engaging in prostitution and the manufacture and sale of obscene material.

They were identified as:

· Site owner Clinton Raymond McCowen, 45, also known as Ray Guhn, who resides in the 1900 block of Rue La Fontaine in Navarre.

· Kevin Patrick Stevens, 36, of the 9700 block of Fowler Avenue in Pensacola, who was a producer and Web site technician."

Some filming recently was moved to Canada because people engaged in the operation regarded the local area as "the frickin' Bible Belt," the affidavit states.
I wonder how long it took them to buy a clue?

Ramster 2006-06-26 08:38 AM

Wow, I've promoted them for a long time. Very interesting.

Jim 2006-06-26 10:08 AM

That is interesting and disturbing at the same time. I think more information is needed before making a judgment. Like, what are the authorities calling prostitution? Was it real prostitution or was it paying models for being on film? One is protected, one is not.

Like I said, more information needed.

SirMoby 2006-06-26 10:40 AM

With the amount of drugs and violent crimes in Florida you would think they would be focusing on crimes that actually have victims.

Cleo 2006-06-26 10:50 AM

Their the fanatical, too full of their righteous selves, bible thumping folks that reside in northern Florida and then there are the who gives a fuck what two consenting adults want to do with each other that reside in southern Florida. Unfortunately the capital of Florida is in the northern part. IMO Florida should become two states. The Keys had the right idea when back in the late part of the last century they wanted to secede from the rest of Florida and become the Conch Republic.

emmanuelle 2006-06-26 10:57 AM

Is there a statute of limitations? They have outsourced their shoots to Vancouver for the past 2+ years

juggernaut 2006-06-26 10:59 AM

"The two men, both arrested Friday, were charged with racketeering -- conducting a criminal enterprise by engaging in prostitution and the manufacture and sale of obscene material."

This is one of the shittiest laws in the country. It gives the government so much power. Just about anything can be molded to fit in it's catagory. Shit, this is what they got my old man for 15 years ago. All he was doing was placing bets for people. He don't even play tennis.

Toby 2006-06-26 11:03 AM

Sounds like they should have moved to Vancouver too. :(

Boogie 2006-06-26 11:35 AM

bad fucking news ;((

swedguy 2006-06-26 11:51 AM

What the fuck? Ray Guhn?
I've used him since day 1 :(

ArtWilliams 2006-06-26 11:53 AM

Come to Canada, we love women with loads of man gravy on them!

Agreed. But unfoutunately that would require politicians to actually take their heads out of their assess, an unlikely occurence.|bullshit|

overarm 2006-06-26 03:27 PM

Well - things like that is meant to happen overthere, when you insist to have Commander Cuckoo-Bananas in charge...|crazy|

Evil Chris 2006-06-26 04:07 PM

Considering the outcome of the SEG trials, it will be interesting to see what comes of this.

In any case, it sucks for the COHF people.

GenXer 2006-06-27 06:39 PM

That is some crazy news!

Pornwolf 2006-06-27 10:57 PM

Good luck to them. Sounds like they're gonna need it.

Are you an affiliate??

Licker4U 2006-06-29 05:27 PM

No, but I've seen the name Ray Guhn. Maybe in a list of custodians of records at a sponsors 2257 page or something.

I do know there is a pretty active swingers group in P'cola. LA Social, been around for years. When I read in the article about group sex, I wondered how many swinger couples wanted to make a few extra bucks doing what they do anyway. |boobies|

Why would swingers be more willing to be content than anyone else? Vanilla married couples screw all the time, but I doubt the say, "Hey were fucking anyway. Why not make $100?" :D

Preacher 2006-06-29 05:50 PM

Fuck! Time to pull some galleries.

Hey Useless, you're a swinger. Got any cum in the eye galleries of yourself that I can use to replace the notorious cum goggles ones I had listed from COHF?

Preacher 2006-06-29 06:48 PM

You're dealing with people that want the thrill of something new. New partners, new places and new experiences. I haven't known a lot of swingers but the few I have known love the idea of public places, strangers, being filmed, etc ...

Cleo 2006-06-29 09:54 PM

My neighbor pays people all the time just to watch them fuck. I've sat in on a few viewings. Kind of boring if you ask me but then I sell porn for a living.

Not that I mix with those sort of lascivious types...cough...but if I did, I can assure you that the ones I would hypothetically know would be especially discreet and not in favor the idea of "straight" folks watching and knowing about their activities. I can certainly understand the additional excitement of it all, but I don't -hypothetically- know anyone like that.

As someone who does mix with those "lascivious types", Useless is actually correct. (The world is coming to an end) |couch|

If we just want to swing and not worry about "content", we NEVER mention our site. Because even if we are not taking pictures, as soon as they hear we have a site they want nothing to do with us. :(

There are alot of swingers that are lawyers, doctors, teachers and other professional where discreetion isn't only desired it is REQUIRED for job security.

As you know in this day and age of the internet, it is way too easy for them to be discovered.

I do believe that youngwhoringwives will take care of that quite nicely for you. :-) *see uw's siggy for the link*..

PR_Tom 2006-06-30 10:12 AM

An earlier story on it told more. What they did was paid a girl to have group sex at a private party to see if she'd be good for filming in a movie.

Thats the prostitution.. and the rest was more than likely tacked on to see if it will stick.

Ramster 2006-06-30 10:23 AM

I've been away but have a read a bit. So the site is down 100% now? I guess I better yanks some links? Is that what people are doing?

A little naive there I think. Outside of certain parts of California, shoots are considered prostitiution, as it is sex for money- camera or no camera. Using prostitution to commit further offenses constitutes racketeering, which falls under the RICO act. RICO in turn allows the authorities to seize all assets without due process. Kinda hard to pay your lawyers, let alone affiliates this way.
Furthermore, paying the model's travel expenses violates the MANN act, because they are transporting people across state lines to commit indecent acts (white slavery laws)

The only thing they're missing (at this point) is IRS and a way to tie it into the Patriot Act.

This is a very serious case, with ramifications for everyone in the US who shoots content. I suspect it will set an important precident in the industry. Those boys were doing the same things that dozens of other US companies do all the time. Hopefully this will inspire them to clean up their own acts. Regardless, it hits very close to home, and if any industry related case needs our close attention (and support), I think this one is it.

Is that some sort of bizzaro world where the 1st Amendment doesn't exist?

Yes. I waited a day to see if it they would come back up, but when it wouldn't I had to. On my LL I can just deactivate the sponsor temporarily, but unfortunately on my tgp's my only option is to delete the galleries. |cry|

Well here's some more details, with a comparison to an older California case. and a comment by Larry Walters.
