Happy Fucking Tuesday Everyone

Morning |waves|

Well, the problem with my system was not the graphics card (as lovely windows tells me it is over & over & over) MML think the Mother Board is shot, so I'm shipping it to his kin in NJ as he built it (and who wants to take a computer loaded with porn to a local shop for repair)

So, here I sit on my crappy laptop, annoyed that I need an adapter to hook my keyboard up & wondering when my neck will start hurting from being hunched over for 12 hours a day.

OH - buddy of mine played in Day 1 of the World Series Of Poker - he text'd me at 10:30 last night (dinner break) & he had 7700 left. Said he folded KK after a pre-flop re-raise & he guy showed AA. Play ended around 6 & I text'd him at 6:30 or so, but no reply, so my hopes for him still being in the game are slim :(

Fonz 2006-08-01 07:55 AM

Morning all,

GG, that buddy wouldn't be DrB. by any chance? :)

It's rainy and only 22°C/71°F today.
Other than that I've got nothing.

bluemoney 2006-08-01 08:12 AM

Good morning all |waves|

Just another fun filled day here. Hope to get some coffee in me soon so I can try to get some shit done.

Simon 2006-08-01 08:25 AM

Good morning world |waves|

Slept in until after 7 this morning for some reason. Guess I needed the rest or something.

Greenie - if the built-in keyboard is big enough for your fingers, try working somewhere besides your desk. Either that or stick your laptop on a stand or some books to raise the screen up. I rarely use anything but a notebook these days and I think I don't get that neck pinch because I'm always moving around. (Wireless there too?)

Fonz - tomorrow it should be here. :)

A good Tuesday to all.

dareutwo 2006-08-01 08:31 AM

Morning all -
Finally able to turn off the AC. We still need a ton of rain, but for now I'll take the cooler weather.
Yesterday was funeral number 3 for this small town. Hopefully this will be it for quite awhile.
Normal day scheduled here.

Morning
I enjoy only using a laptop and I know Sparky only uses a laptop. I just use wireless keyboard and mouse. And, have it hooked up to a 42" monitor :)

Anyway, today is my Birthday so I will probably be forced off the PC shortly. :)

Torn Rose 2006-08-01 08:57 AM

Been on a laptop for 3-4 years at least, have not had a problem until recently, but I’m still using a chair that is at least 5 years old, so I will be getting a new one soon... as soon as I stop being lazy and drive the 2 miles to the office supply store… which could be months or even years from now.

But that would also mean I would need to leave the house, and there are monsters out there, so I think I will be safer here in my monster proof home in my old chair.

Good Morning All :)

docholly 2006-08-01 09:19 AM

|loony| morning (there is no GOOD yet)

Karma for some unknown reason is raining hard on me lately. I think it was the lightening strike we had about 3 weeks ago. So far my water heater, my sound card/speakers, spud's xbox, the compressor from the A/C unit on the living side of the house and 2 of our surge protectors have blown and on Saturday our bedroom/office side A/C died an unnatural death.

so not only am i still wired up and cannot argue with sears on why they have to come back today to replace it instead of yesterday, i'm also sweaty and the drugs aren't working. |banghead|

I know somewhere out there is a "Good" but i need to wipe the sweat from my eyes to find it. |yawn|

edit: oh and i hate the new icq thing that i was forced to download last night.. |angry|

Toby 2006-08-01 09:39 AM

Mornin' y'all,

It appears that the dead wireless mini-mouse I had to replace on my laptop yesterday was small potatoes.

Once I got the new mouse (I hate those touchpad thingys) I spent about 2 hours upgrading and updating software, transferrring stuff from my desktop PC, etc. getting it ready to take to Internext.

Laptop is ready to go, now I just need to get myself ready. I did stop while I was out yesterday getting the new mouse to get a haircut a buy a few new clothes.

|coffee is on, help yourself

Ramster 2006-08-01 09:39 AM

Good Morning from NYC and Times Square. Today's forecast...MotherF******HOT. :D

Torn, that reminds me I need a new chair too. Just ask Greenguy, LOL.

Tart 2006-08-01 09:49 AM

Second cup of coffee and I've actually got some stuff done. Have to work tonight, and all I'm hoping is it doesn't rain.
Now to get back to getting stuff done.

lorsha 2006-08-01 09:57 AM

Had some nasty T-Storms this morning up here. Got almost 2" of rain in barely 2 hours.

Have a great day everyone! |bananna|

It appears that CHRIS is going to be a day or two late for the party. Although Mon/Tue return flights may be an adventure.

MrYum 2006-08-01 10:31 AM

Morning all...

I'm with you Doc...there is no 'good' today...or at least not yet...

Bug the lil sex monkey brought home now has me...grrrr

I hate being sick...and certainly don't have time for it |banghead|

Cleo 2006-08-01 10:34 AM

Started off the day by having to go to the doctor for the results of my blood tests that I had a few days ago. Under Florida law they are not allowed to tell you the results over the phone so last night I get a call saying that I need to come in first thing in the morning. So all last night I'm thinking that I'm going to get some really bad news or something very bad. Turns out that I'm healthy with but high cholesterol. That and I show that at one time I was exposed to hepatitis and herpes which I already knew and have never had any symptoms from and from what I'm told probably never will. So basically I get the shit scared out of me and have to get up way too early to be told stuff that I already knew about.

Since it looks like Chris is coming to visit us within the next week will probably start filling up my gas reserves today. I figure it will take about seven trips to the corner gas station to fill all my tanks.

Other then that just a day of meeting with ADT to sign the paperwork to have a new alarm system installed at my neighbor's place just going to be home working.

cd34 2006-08-01 10:37 AM

So Castro turns over power for the first time in 46 years or something and a Tropical Depression forms which overnight turns into a tropical storm.

And my fuel guy was supposed to be here last week, but, he keeps cancelling, so, I guess my nephew and I will be ferrying about 55 gallons of gas in 3 trips. :)

JustRobert 2006-08-01 10:39 AM

Good morning everyone,
Heat broke again 2 days ago and there has been a cool breeze blowing thru the window. Sleeping like a baby. News just stated that f'ing heat wave that moved out decied to turn around and is going to come back |banghead|
Hopefully that will be after friends from out of state and I go to the extreme roller coaster park wednesday and thursday for his sons birthday.

Useless 2006-08-01 10:42 AM

I'm tired. I've been tired since returning from Vegas. I think I must have got a minor case of the AIDS while I was there. Damned filthy urinals. I knew I shouldn't have eaten pulled that gum out and chewed it.

That project I mentioned yesterday - I've already given up on it. |thumb

Problem is that if I raise the laptop up to where my normal line of sight is, well, lift your hands up about a foot & make some air-typing motions :D

sue-fl 2006-08-01 10:53 AM

Morning!

Hope Chris dies out before getting to land, but I'm ready if he comes up this way!

I hate laptops! We have two pc's and a laptop, I thought the laptop would be nice to work on outside in the screen room when it's cool out. But I don't like using it and can't see anything when I'm on it. I'll stick to the pc with the screen I can see...|thumb

Today more work in the garage, going to get a haircut, and going to see my grandson! Hopefully I sneak in some work too!

Have a great day all!

Karaoke, air guitar, and now air-typing... where will the madness end? :D

Of course I meant to raise it up like that if you're using your external keyboard.

I guess you can't plug your monitor into your laptop? When I do the desk thing that's what I do, so my notebook screen becomes extra screen real estate.

For all the notebook/laptop users out there, here's something that I've used for a few years and really like: The AirDesk

cd34 2006-08-01 11:44 AM

Happy Birthday Jim.

And I see I have a tropical storm named after me -- or is it the female Chris that the storm is named after? Alberto, Beryl, Chris.... Alberto is male, so, I guess Beryl is female and Chris is male. What an honor...

I have used a laptop exclusively since 92 or so, and oddly, each time I go to buy a laptop, I end up with a Toshiba. I believe I'll have an Intel Mac Laptop next time though.

What I do is push the laptop back about 12-18 inches on the desk and let my forearms rest on the desk so there isn't as much of an angle on my wrists which is supposed to prevent Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Then, the chair is adjusted so that my back is straight and my arms are at a 45 degree angle, which reduces the angle considerably. I'm able to sit there for 16-20 hours without any back or neck pain. Whether that is a good thing or not, I don't know. At least with back or neck pain I would get up from the computer from time to time. :)

It is pretty easy to hook up an external keyboard and monitor to my machine, though I haven't done that. With today's USB keyboards and the external monitor port, if your main machine is dead, buy a USB keyboard and plug it in where your main machine is...

or use it as an excuse for a day off.

Pardon me, I must go buy some petrol. Seems my fuel delivery guy didn't, and I seem to be threatening. :)

Cleo 2006-08-01 12:05 PM

Just came from the gas station where I filled up 13 five gallons of cans. When everyone saw me filling up all these gas cans I think I started a panic. There really is nothing like driving a Vette with 13 five gallon cans of gas all around you.

Emptied all the cans into the two 55 gallon drums that I have so now I need to make two more trips in order to completely fill the drums plus have all the cans filed.

Took the roof out and left the hatch open but I just had this image of exploding the whole way home. Naturally I spilled some on the passenger’s door sill so now I have the Vette sitting out in the sun with the top out and all the doors open.

I fucking hate these fucking god damn fucking storms!!!

Now that’s a cool device!
It also makes my “Goddamn it! Why the fuck didn’t I think of that” list |banghead|

Dude, I felt exactly the same way when someone on the old Powerbook list mentioned it years ago. Their site looked exactly as it does now, but one good look at their AirDesk and I was smacking my forehead and kicking myself in the ass at the same time. |goodidea

Now they didn't offer the AirGlasses back then. Those are new. I think they must be trying to capitalize on the number of people who like facial piercings already. I'm going to skip these for now. |badidea|

cd34 2006-08-01 02:51 PM

you guys need to spend more time on http://www.mobileplanet.com or http://www.mobiledesk.com/ then.... :)

back in my road warrior days, I can remember many a rental car returned with 4 screwholes in the transmission tunnel where I mounted my laptop.

Sue, mobiledesk.com has a sunshade for your laptop that allows you to use it outside... or you can cut a cardboard box up which is much cheaper.

Im not having the best of days. We went out for a ride to the coast over the weekend and I caught my leg on the motorbike exhaust. Nice little burn that still bloody hurts. Happy Birthday Jim ;-)
