Happy Radio Show Tuesday Everyone!

Morning |waves|

I woke up at 5 for no reason, so I thought I'd start to work |crazy|

Nothing big on the agenda today - just a lot of catch-up after not working at all over the weekend.

Fonz 2006-09-05 06:10 AM

Morning all,

I ended up doing completely different things yesterday than the things I planned to do. So yesterday's stuff will be moved to today.
It's supposed to get a little warmer the next couple of days so that's a good thing.

Have a nice day all.

stuveltje 2006-09-05 06:25 AM

Jim 2006-09-05 07:19 AM

Morning
Hopefully, I will be gone tomorrow and the next day. I say hopefully because I received a phone call yesterday and was told that my VIP Roger Waters passes are counterfeit. I am supposed to get new ones today but...I guess we will see.

bluemoney 2006-09-05 07:29 AM

Good morning filthy porn devils |waves|

Seemed like a very fast 3 day weekend.

emmanuelle 2006-09-05 07:45 AM

Good morning all- It looks to be great weather for my 7 hour trek home today. I might even make a 2nd consecutive radio show.

terry 2006-09-05 08:03 AM

Good Morning Everyone!

Have a nice trip home emma.

Have a great day!

Simon 2006-09-05 08:04 AM

Good morning world |waves|

Damn, that phonecall must have been an unwelcome surprise, Jim. I hope they get that straightened out for you today.

Greenie - Since I now know you live in Western NY...do you have one of those "Got Bucky?" t-shirts, or have you had a Bucky Burger yet? (Ralph "Bucky" Phillips)

Emma - safe drive home on those lonely Canadian highways.

And a good start on a short week to all.

:)

Jim 2006-09-05 08:11 AM

It Sucked Simon
I have been using this guy for a couple of years and have not had a problem until this concert. But, as bad as the phone call was, it was no where near as bad as it would have been to get to the concert and be told the tickets were no good.

I have a really funny feeling they are going to tell me to pick up the tickets at the will call window. It's about a 6 hour drive that will suck to take without tickets in hand.

Today is opening day of the Palms Football pool.. woot woot.. 12n. I went yesterday for some dumb reason thinking it would be available. So as soon as i get home with them, they'll be posted.

Otherwise it's just another day in tourist paradise.. we have a little rain on the way from John the ex-hurricane. School for the rug dawg this afternoon. |roses|

Yeah, that kind of thing can destroy your support pretty quickly. Actually I figured they'd stop selling those shirts now, so if you already had one it'd be a collectable.

I hadn't seen that. |thumb

I wonder if we could donate a year's paysite membership to the cause? |jester|

Morning Pervs…

I played taxi cab for a friend yesterday who fucked up one of her rims on a pothole and spent a good part of the day driving her around. We hit the mall and I bought absolutely nothing since the stores have nothing but warm, ugly, winter clothes still, but still it was nice just getting out.

Trying to get ahold of the plumber to see if he wants to install my neighbor's sink today. If not I'll do the gym today. Not sure what I'm doing the rest of today but somehow I have a feeling it will involve a lot of driving.

Looking to be another rainy day here. Last night we had hellacious storms that almost seemed like something out of a hurricane.

ponygirl 2006-09-05 09:30 AM

good morning everyone |waves|

it's a beautiful day...the sun is shining, the birds are singing, MY KIDS ARE IN SCHOOL |bananna| |bananna| |bananna|

Cleo 2006-09-05 10:12 AM

Plumbing service called this morning and said that my plumber had cut his hand off and was in the hospital so a different plumber would put my neighbor's sink in tomorrow. |shocking|

And out of the weird news…
Jogger missing four days found stuck waist-deep in Central Fla. swamp
Quote:

Eddie Meadows, 62, left to run at lunchtime Thursday and did not return to his workplace at the nearby university research park.

His disappearance sparked daily searches through the Labor Day holiday weekend and pleas from his family and friends.

Meadows, a contract employee with the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation, was described as thirsty after his ordeal.

"He had great spirits, and he was very adamant about getting a drink of water," said Sgt. Woody Furnas of the university police department.

Furnas used his police dog, a German shepherd named Buddy, to get to Meadows after Ron Eaglin, a UCF computer-engineering professor, called 911 to report their location.

Meadows, who had bug bites all over his body, was hospitalized at Florida Hospital East and reunited with his wife, Ardis, and two adult sons.

Because he survived in part by drinking swamp water, he underwent extra blood tests for possible infections.

The remote marshy area where Eaglin found Meadows is thick with brush, trees and other vegetation that is home to deer, fox, raccoons and other species.

Rescuers and authorities surmise that Meadows got lost while jogging off a trail and ventured into sticky muck, where he got stuck until Eaglin discovered him about 10 a.m. Monday.

Furnas said some of the wooded area near the UCF astronomy observatory has thick silt and muck that can act as "glue."

A hospital spokeswoman would not discuss Meadows' hospitalization but said his "condition is being assessed." The family, in a statement, expressed "gratitude to everyone for their involvement."

Members of University Carillon United Methodist Church, where Meadows is a member, were ecstatic.

Several rushed to the wooded area off Neptune Drive where Meadows was found when they heard about the rescue.

"That's all I can say: Thank God," said Tammy Voodre, who sings in the church choir with Meadows and noticed his absence from practice Thursday night.

On Monday morning, Eaglin said he was searching for Meadows when he heard a sloshing sound and found the lost jogger about 430 yards inside a canopied marsh, thick with brush, palmettos and pine trees.

When he got closer to investigate, he called out, "Hello." Meadows replied and upon seeing Eaglin summoned enough strength to pull himself out.

"He's a strong guy. He's in good shape. He's a marathoner," Eaglin said. "He said he slept a lot and stayed down in the water. And he's been having to drink the swamp water."

About 50 volunteers, some with the Florida Orienteering Club and armed with maps of the campus, trekked through wooded areas looking for a sign of Meadows.

"I really thought we were looking for a body," Eaglin said. "I was very happy when it wasn't a body we found."

Bob Putnam, a Florida Orienteering coordinator, said Meadows may have survived by avoiding sun exposure and drinking swamp water.

"He had a couple of things going for him," Putnam said. "He was able to immerse himself in water, and that kept him from becoming dehydrated. And the fact that the bayhead [canopy] he was in was quite shady."
It's another hellacious storm outside this morning. I'm planning on doing the gym since I'm not doing the plumbing thing but after morning news like this I'm thinking I probably really should just go back to bed and try again this wake up thing tomorrow.

JustRobert 2006-09-05 10:15 AM

Makes you feel all warm and tingly about FPL's storm hardened network doesn't it? Although I think you have Teco Energy where you are don't you?

FPL storm hardened our power network -- during Ernesto we didn't lose power once. During the rain storms a few days after we lost power about 8 times.

As for me, I think a full helping of work is on the agenda.

I did restock on Diet Coke. Now I need to get another blue barrel so I can store 55 gallons of diet coke in reserve in case a hurricane hits. :)

Toby 2006-09-05 10:36 AM

Mornin' y'all,

T'is back to the usual routine here as well. I need to consult with |buddy| about this week football picks. A little devine guidance can't hurt.

|coffee is on, help yourself

dareutwo 2006-09-05 10:58 AM

Morning all -
Finally a normal schedule!!!! Kids are back in school.
I have to get a lot of school paperwork crap done today (the normal injury reporting etc bs stuff), and then reffing a football game tonight.
Other than that, it's just great to have a quiet house again :)

Uh my day is long and tireing... hope you have a better one |waves|

I was up to 06 am and the plumbers came after 07 am and spent hours here examining my drains inside and outside and charging me for nothing... they say there is air in the system. We had that tornado and fatal storm here back on August 20th and it started that day.
So I won't be up late today I think... yawn |yawn| :D
