Can money realy be made in this business?
I just want to ask is there any real money being made in the adult interent porn business? Porn is basicly free on the internet. How can you make a profit with all these free password sites comming out? you got messageboard forums posting passwords, you got p2p programs where you can download full movies from the same site's that we try to promote. I mean it's just seems to me that we are just letting people know what porn to go search for on the p2p networks.or in the endless free source's for porn online.. Just my 2cent but i do wantto know what yall think about the subject.
|
why is it all in bold? and no there is no money in porn..
|
No money, nothing to see here, move along…
|
We're all just here for the Bud Lite |cheers|
|
i just do it for the free porn :D
|
is the record industry making money even though there are mp3's?
|
Can I borrow $20?
|
not a cent in porn these days.............only 2.5 billion a year :D
i remember how all those record companies went broke when the radio played all the fucking songs free....poor fuckers :) |
never though of this business as a money making one, arent we all just here to have fun :D
|
In porn, no. The real money is in bold print and asking EDIT[less-than well thought out] questions.
|
there is no spoon.
|
LOL lots of funny answers here - started my morning off right, with a chuckle.
can you make money in on line porn? - yes is it easy? - not even a little if you're serious, read the board, every section, study, eat a good breakfast and become one with the poonany profits spaz |
I made 2 cents once but that's just my 2 cents worth.
|
With so many promoting what do you think? We do it for fun?
Well yeah we do it for fun too but... :D |
Ok ok yall
i was basicly asking to mabe get some new ideas on promoteing my affliates but i see everyone is clowning me.I know theres money in it but can you just say good bye to your day job and rely on webmastering adult sites? just asking cause i can't make the monthly payments for my site..but to stay in the game i use free host's ...and i already know what yall gonna say about free host's i heard it all before and have taken it into consideration. But im generateing no sales on the site i pay but when i went to the free host i started getting sales and se traffic so im like lost. |huh |banghead|

you want to know how to promote sites in a way that will be profitable to you.... cool, that desire is the first thing you need, the next thing is learnin' then after that... hard work (this usually scares most people off) I said read the board, every section and study it. While you view this as 'clownin' you I assure you it is rock solid advice. Find what you think will work for you, try it all, use combinations... whatever is going to help you generate traffic and then sales. You don't have anything to lose, you're not making any money. few more tips; 1) grow thick skin and be prepared for tough love 2) talk no crap until you can back it up (not making enough money to pay hosting is not a way to back up claims... I can easily make no money without your advice or services) 3) when you ask for advice... listen to those who respond and see if you can use what is being said to you. 4) dont bold your posts on a board... its rude spaz |
This thread made my day |jester|
If your making money from your free hosting use that money to pay for hosting. problem solved|goodidea |
I can understand this question being asked. Not too long ago, prior to the Net, about the only way the average person could view "porn"; especially the hardcore variety, was to visit the local adult bookstore or raincoat theater. I don't recall ever being able to sample, or get a free look at anything these businesses offered. You couldn't even "browse" the magazines because they were sealed in cellophane. If you wanted to watch a video for any length of time at all, you had to buy a token or drop a quarter in the slot. The point is, these businesses gave you absolutely nothing for free. Maybe that's why the average guy, at the time, didn't have much of a problem in spending $10 for a magazine that featured 50 hardcore images.
Contrast that to what we offer on the Net. I have one sponsor that boasts offering 35,000 FHGs. I don't know how many hours of porn viewing this translates to, but it's conceivable this one sponsor alone is giving away more product than the average bookstore or move theater of 10 to 15 years ago had in their entire inventory. Can you imagine owning a "brick and mortar" adult business that sees a couple of thousand visitors go through its turnstyles in a month, and not one of them drops even a dime in your cash register? Yet, as adult webmasters, we can see hundreds of "unique" visitors enter our online stores everyday, and the vast majority of them come and go without enriching us in the slightest way, despite the fact we spent our time, money and effort to facilitate their being entertained for free. As an industry, I think we've created, nurtured and are perpetuating a bad business model. Does anyone know how much product we give away compared to how much we sell? I'll bet we're one of the few industries, may be the only industry out there, that gives away more product than is purchased. Spend some time cruising around the adult side of the Net. The case could be made fairly easily that adult webmasters are in a contest to see who can give away the most amount of porn. Somehow, we believe those who are winning this contest, are also those who are making the most money. From the consumers' point-of-view, I can see why some, perhaps many, or even the majority of surfers place little or no value on online porn. I overheard a couple of college-age guys at an internet cafe recently remark that, "only a sucker pays for porn". Maybe they're right. They can go from TGP to TGP for hours every day, and take in 10, 15, or 20 seconds of video, sampling 2 to 6 videos per page... and have a great old time while never reaching for, or even thinking about what they have in their wallet. Yeah. I can see asking if it's really possible to make money in this business. It's not an unreasonable thought to have. |
People give away free porn because thats what they use to get visitors that do believe it or not pay for porn. I make alot of sites myself that have 4 30 or even 8 20 second movie clips, and I do make sales off of them, in fact it is my livliehood. This aint the pre internet days where porn was such a rare thing that 50 pics were worth 10 bucks. Supply and demand dude, people give away more free porn because thats what makes them the most money. Would it be easier to make sales if there were no free porn? Of course it would but then again there wouldnt even be close to the amount of traffic that there is now. Whats done is done, and this is the business model that the internet goes by, if ya dont like it, dont do it. The way I market my free movie sites is pretty much like if you think these samples are hot then just wait until you see such and such with all these full length movies. Yes the vast majority of people are just looky loos who wouldnt pay for porn in their whole lives, but there are those people that want quality and those are the people that you hope to lure in and make a sale to.

i wouldn't count on porn paying your bills for a bit tho, but at least paying a simple host 10 bux will get you good hosting.... |
Well - I probably should make a separate thread for it - but Ive always believed that thehun and Tommy etc should lead an exodus away from allowing surfers in for free - charge for access to their lists - let it trikle down to all the WMs - and then if any idiot starts giving it away for free take him down :)

is there money to be made? of course, by you or me? that depends. i've wondered for almost 3 years (can't believe its been that long already) if it wasnt all just a carrot on a string. i've had some short stretches of decent money, and longer ones of little. of course people make money, but you should make sure you prepare to not make any or little to start off with. but i could be wrong and maybe everyone else started off a bit different and were rich in days.

I can say that I have noticed a strong connection between steady growth in sales and time/energy spent working towards long-term goals. :D |

It is really hard to stay focused and motivated at times, especially when You don't see a sale for days... God knows I get my down periods where i don't do anything for a couple of days, and I struggle to get past those times. When I get those down periods now, I start working on a small new project, like a new mini hub or something, or a big new project, like totally redoing my LL( I am doing this to 1 of them right now) this project has no deadline, so I don't NEED it to be done right now, so I can drop it for a week or a month when I feel like doing other things again, and get going on that "not so important" project again when I feel like it.
The key is definately to stay motivated during the upstart and during slow periods. |
Let me just clear this entire thing up. YOU CAN MAKE MONEY.
Send me some money and I'll show you how to make money :) |

The real reason for this change in TGPs is that there are too many sponsor hosted galleries available, so TGP owners could easily fill their sites with only hosted galleries with their link codes. I see paid submit passes just as additional income for TGP owners and as adding a bit of variety on the side. |

This story might give you a little insight into how much money can be made http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...violetblue.DTL .

Here is the real answer.
Yes, there is money in porn. There is also money in Ebay. It all comes down to hard work. You can work 40 hrs at a cubicle job or work 40+ around the clock from home. I just came off a project that would have taken a company two weeks to complete. I stayed up for over 48hrs to complete the project for my client, all wrapped up nicely and paid upon delivery. Beside hardwork you also need a tolerance to stay up in front of a computer for hours upon hours. Anyway, I am looking for local MySQL and PHP programmers <<--- You know where to find me. |

I followed his advice and within six months I had so much dough I never thought I'd be able to spend it all, so I kept buying content (well over 100K worth per year) and putting up more and bigger sites, hired a bunch of people to do most of the grunt work for me while I worked on ideas and deals mostly. Sales started dropping around early 2002, just when I started taking a ton of time off and getting involved in politics. The Biz coasted until early 2005 when my accountant advised me to go bankrupt, so I did. That was very good for me, because my income was no longer going to credit cards and tax people, and I coasted a bit more, as sales kept dropping. I hit bottom a year ago and got my ass in gear again, then I got sick for 3 freakin' months. My Doc told me afterwards that he thought I was a dead man walking, but I surprised him and beat it. So I really didn't start going full steam and working the maniac hours that made me successful the first time until May of this year. My income started rising again, but very slowly, and very slowly it started to snowball, slowly. No where near as fast as the first time around, but it is happening again, and I'm confident that this time around will be better than last time, because I've had the big bucks before, and know how I spent them. Also, I've got over 1,000 CD's of content, so I only buy what I really like now, I'm not buying for filler like I used to. Content was my biggest expense, now I really don't have any expense other than bandwidth so I'm running a much tighter ship. Man, did I ever buy some useless shit when I thought I was rich |loony| I'm sitting here looking at a shortwave radio I paid 3K for and listen to every 2 or 3 months, got a top notch TV I very rarely watch, a stereo in the living room I never listen to, just crap. I did buy a house though, smartest thing I did. Starting out fresh, though, would be very difficult indeed, still doable but difficult. I've had the good fortune to have dealt with and known a lot of solid honest players in this biz, a lot of them on this board, some on other boards, and have kept my reputation as a solid guy who doesn't dick people around. I've also been burned before, but the good outnumber the bad in this biz by a higher ratio than most businesses I'm sure. It is a very rewarding, fun, biz to be in, but like all good things, work is the key, and diversifying saves your ass. |
Good post Sheep,
I will be better prepared to spend my riches. :D Of course, that is after I get them! |thumb But your post inspired me, thank you. |
SheepGuy I love that post. I think many have been in a similar position but maybe on a lesser scale. It seems to be that we all need it to come around twice before we appreciate what we have.
|
Smart people can make a lot of money in the adult business but probably in every other business too. People like you, with bad english, no knowdledge, no money to invest and without doing a lot of research first cannot make money here, simple as that.
