Which FTP Client would u recommend?

Hi all!|waves|

I've been using CofeeCup Free FTP for quite some time but something happened to it and I'm now unable to upload my FSs to my server so, instead of busting my ignorant head to fix whatever problem is present, I think it might be time for a new FTP client.

I'm looking for freeware if possible (my finances are a bit shaky right now...) but will gladly pay if your advice will point in that direction:

Which FTP client do you use and would you recommend?

Thank you and all the best!
Zio

P.S. A friend is recommending WS_FTP which has a 30 days free trial but costs about $80 w service agreement...

SaucyPanties 2007-04-13 12:30 PM

They offer a trial version but I use CuteFTP home at something like $30-$40 for the licence

Cleo 2007-04-13 12:41 PM

I use Interarchy but it is Mac only.

Jim 2007-04-13 12:47 PM

WS_FTP is probably what you want. Even if you have to pay a little after 30 days.

JackDaniel's 2007-04-13 01:21 PM

I've always used Cute FTP :)

T Pat 2007-04-13 01:59 PM

I started with cute ftp then had a hard drive crash and lost my free trial that never seemed to expire.

Then I used WS_FTP for a month untill there free trial expired.
I then bought Cute FTP because I like it more than WS_FTP

Trev 2007-04-13 02:03 PM

Another nod for Cute, here. Easy to use, and pretty full featured. Well worth the $30-$40 to reg it after the trail is over.

stuveltje 2007-04-13 02:10 PM

believe me i would pay for WS_FTP, i cant believe something is easier then that one, log in see your domains click on your domain and thats it, but since i dont have to pay for it............who am i to nag then:D

Irvin 2007-04-13 02:59 PM

i think Cute anf far FTP is one of the best for use.

ladydesigner 2007-04-13 03:11 PM

I use the newest WSFTP (Pro 2007). Been using it since way back when..... Can't say I've found anything easier. |thumb

|barf| on CuteFTP!

In case there are other Mac readers of this thread, another good ftp program on that platform is Transmit. One thing it does (and maybe other programs do too) is allow me to open two ftp sessions and copy files from one server directly to another with no need to download first and then upload.

CalModels 2007-04-14 04:56 PM

FileZilla, its open source, GPL licensed, free, rocks.

http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/

Jab 2007-04-14 05:04 PM

Filezilla, indeed, been using it for years.

oldbrad 2007-04-14 05:49 PM

I had ws_ftple for a few years til i upgraded pc's. Since then i have used coreftp (what i have now) and am not liking it at all.

I am going to buy the newer model of ws ftp, as using core is more pain in the ass then the savings are worth.

Allfetish 2007-04-15 06:40 AM

I like Filezilla like many of the others.. It is freeware.

http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...group_id=21558

The current version is windows only but the Beta version (3) which works well runs on apple as well as linux. It is highly configuarable and has a very intuitive interface. I highly recommend it.

Porn Junkie 2007-04-15 09:28 AM

FileZilla only.

Zio 2007-04-16 07:29 AM

Thank u everyone for your tips!:D

Running Filezilla and it's working great!!! |bananna|
But thanks to your replies I'll know where to turn in case I'll need an alternative for the future.

As usual, the people @ GG&J rock!|headbang|

Be well!

uninja 2007-05-06 11:01 PM

I've been using FTP surfer.. it's free and does the job.

Incredible_Wil 2007-06-05 11:34 AM

I try to upgrade at least twice a year, but always end up going back to the stable Core FTP lite :)

Irvin 2007-06-05 05:28 PM

I use FAR this is more which i like

annie_cash 2007-06-06 10:24 AM

FileZilla here

danutzupmp 2007-06-07 12:01 PM

I use cuteftppro

secretagentwilly 2007-06-09 10:40 PM

I use CuteFTP, WSFTP, CORE FTP, and Smart FTP....I typically use Cute FTP most because it's the one I've always used...Core is pretty good and has a free trial that doesn't expire and Smart is pretty good too...Smart is probably the best, but Cute is my favorite...Smart is good to have around because for some reason, Cute doesn't always show the .htaccess file which you have to edit now and then to turn the global dupes off. That's my two cents...

MightyMidget 2007-06-13 12:45 PM

MS Ftp, yes the console one that comes with Windows

For some reason it kicks the shit out of other FTP clients in terms of upload and download speeds and it's excellent for automating uploads.

Since console FTP isn't always the best solution I also use Filezilla. Quite frankly the number of FTP clients is unbelievable considering that they all do the same thing.

LeRoy 2007-07-12 02:00 PM

I use Filezilla also.

pigbait75 2007-07-12 02:52 PM

filezilla, easy and it's got a cool name.

bubo_bubo 2007-07-15 04:36 AM

total commander - very easy and fast! :)
+ best file manager

Receptor 2007-07-15 06:48 AM

total commander. never let me down so far :)

shunga 2007-07-15 07:00 AM

I started out with CuteFTP, then for a reason I can't recall changed to WS_FTP. I haven't found either to be perfect, though it's been a while since I looked at the latest versions of either. FileZilla is a pretty good application, too, and it's free.

dapanther99 2007-07-17 08:47 PM

I use CoffeeCup Free FTP http://www.coffeecup.com/freestuff/

I guess it's not too late to say that I burn everything on CD and mail it to my host. They upload it to my box. I never could decide on a FTP software because there are so many to choose from.

stfuvt 2007-07-19 10:35 AM

FileZilla always !!! it just rox

Fonz 2007-07-19 11:25 AM

I think he has found an FTP program after 3 months :)

Greenguy 2007-07-19 04:14 PM

He could still be weighing his options & wondering if it'd be expensive to mail Useless his files.

gandalfuy 2007-07-20 03:20 AM

i use cute ftp, since ever
