I gave access to the owner and his minion at phpLD to upgrade the aggregator script I have on the domain, they disabled pending feeds, then they used the domain for three days of heavy spamming. So it's probable not a good domain to link to now. Sorry |banghead|
|
Damn Pat not only do they have a shitty script that they rip people off with, they then prove what low life shit heads they really are.

PHPLD owners did that?

I'm surprised at that, a guy called david is the owner i think but there are a few muppets that offer to install mods and upgrades for a price.
Hope there's no backdoors in that script. |

I figure someone pointed out this thread to them http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...ad.php?t=43471 |
Ever done a Google search Newstopica? Googles banned him! LOL
|
hey Art I googled Newstopica and don't see what your talking about.
I have read on the phpLD forrum that a lot of the link list owners are losing page rank like crazy, I'm thinking it's the paid links ;-)) |
Site:newstopica.com
His site doesn't get crawled by Google. There are other sites referencing him but do a look up on his site and it isn't there. Quote:

Ahhh ok I got ya now
phpld isn't doing much better only 9 links, looks like Karma Greed and Stupidity will do the ass bite in ;-)) |
I bought the 3.2 link directory which seems ok but then again i wouldn't know any better as it's a new thing for me.
I think i'll be relying more on this forum for scripts etc in future though as this has put me off dealing with them again. |
Wow, weird, I know David from other boards, and he always struck me as a decent fellow. I can see the problems with the script not being solved, but taking over the domain and using it to spam people?? if you can prove that, you should sue him.

Damn pretty shitty thing to happen to you Pat, sorry to hear this mate.
|
I lost my respect for David Duvall and PHPld / Newstopica a very long time ago. About the time I bought a script that was not ready to be sold, was promised fixes to the script in a timely matter only to learn that I was being lied to as he was telling another member of this board, who had the same problems, something totally different.
Anyone who will sit there and lie to your face is capable of anything. IMHO Oh and I never did get a working copy of the script!!! At least I saved myself the grief T-Pat has gone through with them by dropping the lieing cock sucker |
I'm sorry to hear about that! I actually gave Dawzz access to my server for a couple of days to help me with something - he offered to do it free of charge but I threw $10 his way for the quick fix. I didn't have any issues with him - seemed like a really nice guy.

I gave David $10 to join their support forum and never got access The search function in the admin never has worked, RSSXXXFeed.com adds 400 to 500 posts a day, finding a mal formed feed post with no search function is a royal pain in the ass.|banghead| I could go on but it won't do my blood pressure any good. |
You actually do have access to the supporters forum (it seems to have been granted before today. Must have been shortly after you paid). I just checked to make sure. You are still welcome to contact me on the phpLD forum, and I will be happy to help with any ongoing problems.
I see you have 44,600 pages of your site indexed by google. There must be something going quite right. Like anything else, it does take time and patience to solve things. I know that Dawzz spent many hours more than you paid for trying to help you. We are far from perfect, but you should also realize we did a lot to try to help you, and even now you have a site that is running pretty good. |

I remember the other two cases (TP and Walrus), and they were not exactly "ideal" cases, but I still stand behind the product should they decide to to return to the phpLD forum for help. |
Dvduval, if you are running a business, there is no such thing as ideal cases, everybody is an ideal case. It's up to you to make sure it stays that way. If I was pat i'd be fucking pissed off and wouldnt want to see you face on this board again as this is where people do normal business
have a nice day |

When you misrepresented the functionality of your software and the quality of your support you were wasting my time, David in my book that's stealing the food off of my table. I reset my ftp access when I gave you and Dawz access, so one of the three of us got that web site shut down because it was sending out spam emails (good thing I'm with Colo-Cation otherwise my whole account would have been shut down). Your advertising PHPNews as having search engine friendly links and then you harp about all the time it took Dawz to make all the links search engine friendly 44,600 pages indexed by Google is no way to tell how well a site is doing, I only get 1000 to 2000 hits from Google a day on it. My latest project is less than three months old only has 10,100 pages indexed by Google and gets 5000 to 6000 Search Engine hits a day You need to stick with gullible hobbyists that think selling directory links is going to make them a living and stay the fuck away from professional webmasters until you get your shit together. |
Damn Pat I hope you can recover whats been lost or wasted.

Pat - we need to have us a wester BBQ and roast the turkey!

What happened to T pat is not what I would call professional, and ofcourse denying this ever happened is pretty easy. I have heard pat being pretty satisfied with some other scripts so obviously your doing something wrong, but this is not for me to decide as im not going to buy any of your products anyways.
I think most of the GGJ members trust the opinion of people on this board over any other and so do I so you dont even have to try to convince me |

And yes, the way we had the search engine friendly links was not "friendly enough" to you (even though you have 44,600 pages indexed), and we went an extra mile to do this for you even while you were sending messages to me that were far from friendly (and we did complete this for you, you have the pages as you asked). As I stated before, you are a memorable case. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I truly am. We have so many satisfied customers, and you are in a VERY, VERY, VERY small minority, so much so, that I will volunteer to send you a partial or complete refund. Just let me know where to send it, as well as provide a detailed record of what you spent (PM this to me on the phpLD forums). And besides the extra time we spent helping you with the seo friendly urls, we also installed the script for you twice for free, responded to 38 posts, 40 private messages and over a dozen emails. Trying to make this out like this is one-sided and we didn't try our best to help you fails to acknowledge the many hours we spent with you (and to this day you have a working site!). Thanks, David |

In the end, there are lots of good products out there besides phpLD, and it is not just the product that makes a successful website. It is what you do with the product. |
Right David, I'm going to be leave that Oast, Walrus and I were your only three customers out of a hundred that weren't happy with your script and poor customer support
I'd be willing to bet that you don't even have the script running on a test site |
A search for links to phpldnews.com on Yahoo will show a couple dozen. And of course this one yields 7.5 Million. There are approximately 100,000 sites running our scripts. There is no way poor customer support would have led to such widespread use.
If you are interested in trying to work out your specific case, I have already provided info for you on post number 28. |
all that proves is Yahoo likes phpLD more than Google
I don't give a shit how good or how bad phpLD is doing Now I'm more convinced than ever that you don't even have PHPNews running anywhere |

Pat, how exactly was the spamming done? |

It's sounds like you also don't know why there was a problem with the spam. We don't do "payback". Maybe that is more a term you are familiar with, but not me. I did just look at the username and password you had been using on your colo, and it was simple word that would be very susceptible to a dictionary attack. You should never use a single word for a password for a server. I still don't know what happened exactly in your case, but using an easy password certainly leaves room for the possibility you were compromised due to a weak password.
(Without revealing the password, it was something like "mickey" or "donald", so a 6 letter word) As I said, read post #28. @Jim - not exactly. You can read about our policies for the supporters forum here: http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/foru...ead.php?t=5846 If you actually look at our forum, you will see we help people both in and out of the supporters forum. |
Just answer one question David do you have phpLD News running on a web site?
|
Quote:
Yes, I do, and this is noted previously as well (plus few dozen customers running it, some with a link back and some unbranded). |

Im nosy. |
The answer is found here:
