need tips and pointers
 

hey guys,

just registered after some lurking (great board btw) and since I've seen alot of nice and helpful people in here I thought I'd ask for some advice too.
My site has been online now for a few weeks, gets decent traffic (for what I'm used to anyway) but it doesn't really make me any money. I dunno what I'm doing wrong, bad traffic or sponsors, bad gallery building, I have no clue.
So if anyone could give me some tips it'd be very much appreciated. Site is www.strippingbabes.net

You would probably have better conversions if you used 5 word descriptions instead of 2-3. Just my ²₤

If you are looking for new sponsors with PornStar sites, with one quick search at some-url you can find every adult sponsor out there that has Pornstar sites. You can search by other features you want (hosted galleries...). Good luck.

I'm sorry. Did I read the post wrong, or did Ernie not mention that he thinks maybe he is using the wrong sponsors. I took the time to go to SponsorsList and ensure they had a PornStar category with all the sponsors offering that niche before I responsed.

hershie I would have to agree with Surfn that was a bad use of spam tactics. It would have been more genuine if you didn't have it as your sig link with your refer code in it |lightsabe

Well back to Mental Ernie. I think your site design is nice and I like the colors, but I think surfn is right on this one about trying more words in your descriptions. Also this is your hub im assuming if im wrong please correct me. I think that you need to expand on the site a make it a little bigger with more links under the naked woman which is where most will look first before going back to the links above it. People like short stories in the decription so they know what there going into and want to find out more.

Well what type of traffic are you sending to the site?

Fix those few things that Surfn said and you should be ok.

I guess with the overwhelming rush of people coming here to help in this thread that my contribution isn't needed at all and I should not try to help because I have a ref code in my sig. Sorry I am not pure of heart and "genuine" like you. What a joke.

hersie its not really about being genuine its about really wanting to help someone other than yourself. If you would have givin him another choice besides one that fit your needs only and he had a choice between the two then I would have nothing to say about it. I guess we will leave it up to you then to be the arbiter of good and evil on this board. I have made hundreds of helpful posts on numerous boards over the past couple of years and have a very good reputation in the community for being honest and contributing a lot back. So please do not attempt to lecture me on what in your eyes is considered spamming. He clearly mentioned he was disspaointed in his present sponsors and I offered a free service to find every other sponsor in that niche and you have the balls to come after me because I had a ref code in my sig. Again, I repeat, what a joke.

Well we could talk about this for days about how many people you've helped and reputation in the community, but I rather not disrespect Mental Ernie post for help by dragging it into another topic of spammer vs my opinion of your spam, so if you would rather continue this in private please feel free to pm me. hershie he says nothing about bad sponsors or needing new sponsors. He says "bad traffic to sponsors". Board tracker is a great spam tool.

I hope you will live up to the standards you set for others. I am not sure how much you get out there on this and other boards but you may be shocked at how many others including the owners of this board employ ref codes in posts/pages/sites where people are asking for help/sevices. You just insulted and pointed your judgemental finger at the majority of the adult webmaster community. I really don't care what you think of me and do not care to carry a conversation on. What I care about is making sure I explain and defend myself when someone decides to muddy my name by calling me a spammer.

What the hell are you doing lying and quoting something that isn't there! He said "or" sponsors, hence he is not content with his present sponsors and I gave him an avenue to find all the other sponsors out there in the PornStar niche and I went and verified that SPonsorsList breaks out that category to search by. That was disgusting of you to mis-quote the poster in an attempt to get at me.

I should also add besides your big lie with that mis-quote of the poster which is disgusting of you, that you're also way off base about that BoardTracker crack too. I am good buddies with the owner of Sponsorslist and in fact he was over at my place last weekend. I have had his link in my sig for about a year now and its only in the last 3 or 4 days that I have added a ref code. If I can make some referral money from this then I am doubly happy for helping my friend out and informing webmasters looking for new sponsors of his great service.

Thanks for the tips guys. I've changed the site around a bit, gave the galleries a better description (makes it look like it has more content too :) ).
I'll take a look at those sponors too, see if there's anything that might fit my site in there.

Nowhere! did Ernie ask for sponsors, he asked for advice... and unless things have changed wildly in the last week.. dropping a list of sponsors on someone is not "advice".

As far as I know, I could tell him not to piss in the the wind and it's still advice.

Advice is in the eye of the beholder bud. And if you can look at a list of 88 sponsors and not see any help, then you close your eyes to great potential.. because a person who makes opportunity for themself is one who sees great potential in everything set in their path.

You want to know what people do when someone asks for advice? They tell them to do what they're doing. "go with this sponsor because they've always worked for me." or "buy traffic and only from these guys because it worked for me" or "do what I did with this script and make trades" and so on and so forth.

Every piece of advice anyone has ever received on any message board can be considered spam.

If you want to be a hater, and want to see conspiracy in every post you see, then have at it. Be my guest. I hope it serves you well. I couldn't use the stress myself.

I prefer to help out where I can, and that means providing people with choices. Lots of choices. Unbiased choices not based on likes, dislikes, past experiences or by people who tell me what I should or shouldn't post.

It's not intended for you... and I couldn't care less if you like, don't like, use it, don't use it or if you feel the need to attack myself or anyone else simply because there's a big ass damned list of sponsors to use at everyone's disposal.

Ernie wants advice... but he's not retarded. He doesn't need you insinuating that he won't be able to put that to use. And neither do I.

Really, I see 34 sponsors in there in the pornstar niche. infact, none of those niches have as many sponsors as the niches on sponsorslist. Superfluous huh?

So let's get this straight.. I post a list of 88 sponsors, no referal codes, no link to the site they came from, not even a sig... and you remove it to give a resource that has less sponsors, but of course, has all of your own referal codes instead.

I guess you went against the "group think" around here. How dare you post something helpful when it doesn't comply with their agenda. The USSR at its height had less censorship.

They didn't just remove my link StuartD, a mod even went as far as mis-quoting the original poster to make me look like a spammer. I never even got an apology for that so don't hold your breath for a rationale for the edit they did to you.

it's simple, capitalism.... remove everything and replace it with your own to increase self worth, or at least, perception there of.

Well I'm still new here so I don't know what you guys consider spam here, but the in other forums I post on that handle about adult stuff it was always allowed to give your referal code along with the non-ref link when someone asks for affiliate programs. It was considered as scratching each others back, like 'you did the trouble for getting what I wanted, now I'll sign up under you'.
So I don't mind signing up under hershie or whoever (unless ppl are not allowed to post any other referal links except green guy and jim's, don't know the policy of this board), as long as I get the stuff I need I'm happy.
So in conclusion: thanks to all that replied in here for the help, and sorry if I caused some sort of flamewar in here.

Problem #1 - Where do you see Mental Ernie asking for a list of Pornstar Sponsors?
Problem #2 - Even if he was asking for a list, do you really think it's ethical to promote your resource site over ours while you are on our board?
That is where you were wrong & that is why Surfn posted what he did.

StuartD - Your post with all the sponsors (with or without referral codes) was also OFF TOPIC (see Problem #1 & #2 above)

We are not that strict around here, but it is our board & we do have the final say so. I'm not sure if either of you have ever run a board that gets a decent amount of posts, but I have for the last 5 years. I ran the Condom/Netpond Newbie board for a few years. I ran my board on Netsurprise for a few years. We've been open here for over 10 months. I know what I want on a board - I know what I want from a board - and dare I say, from the amount of posts & members here on the board, I know what other webmasters want from a board. We do our best to provide this for our members.

Every now & then, someone comes by & posts off topic - hell, I stopped counting how many time on the TGP board someone posted asking for submission & some asshole sponsor came by & posted that they have hosted galleries.

Keep things on topic & no one will bother you at all.

Get off topic & you'll be labeled a spammer.
