Another Reason I don't Go To Church..

Sad but true - My town is in the news again...

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/12/09/chu...ing/index.html

Best to the families of the deceased and injured.

Bobc01 2007-12-09 08:43 PM

That's sad, you're not safe anywhere really what with the shopping centre shootings the other day.

ladydesigner 2007-12-09 09:26 PM

Stuff like this makes me want to keep my kiddos safe at home with me and never let them out. We really aren't safe anywhere anymore. :(

nomercy 2007-12-09 10:00 PM

Stuff like this makes me want to buy a Glock... Jesus.

hashbury 2007-12-10 01:24 AM

JackDaniel's 2007-12-10 02:20 AM

I just saw that on tv ... really sad :(

LeRoy 2007-12-10 05:02 AM

Geez. You just aren't safe anywhere these days.

T Pat 2007-12-10 07:47 AM

It's been along time since I went to Church.
When did Churches start using armed security guards?

Suddenly I don't feel safe anymore. :D

In days of violence, you are safer wearing a kevlar vest than you are carrying a gun. People die every day with a gun on their side. Apparently they're armed, but not psychic.

I said the same thing to Vickie last night when we watched the news. Besides the obvious reasons that we saw...why are there armed security guards?

There doesn't seem to be a rash of church shootings.

Cleo 2007-12-10 09:12 AM

I thought god gave them all the protection they needed.

I've always wondered why churches have storm shutters too.

digifan 2007-12-10 10:11 AM

Ouch it is sad... I am against weapons. And what Cleo said ;)

Read up on the so-called "New Life Church" - they've had more than their share of controversy. Between them and Focus On The Family, this town is pretty much guaranteed drama.

I think I even used an article on the New Life Church as an exit link on one of my free sites... Save me a place in hell!

Maybe "god" doesn't like them.......

Just my 2 cents.

Bobc01 2007-12-10 03:32 PM

Religeous people are usually fucked up insecure people who fear living.

These evangalist type churches seem to be a money making scam exploiting fools in the same way terrorist groups do.

Are they involved with the Focus on the Family wackos at all?

Now that my kids are teenagers, I sometimes want to use their sadistic baby training methods on them, just for fun. I always wonder where they find people to join these kinds of churches?

ScreaM 2007-12-10 04:40 PM

Just heard about it.

That's horrible. :(

Hey - let them fuck up - their daughters all grow up to be porn stars.....

No really, I liven in Salt Lake City for much of my life and that place is tame compared to the wackos here.

Old news but it brings a bit of light to this group! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15536263/

Must be "god's punishment" of those who followed Haggard.

I love this t-shirt from T-shirt hell.

That kind of confirms it really, spreading hate for anyone that doesn't have the same beliefs in the same way the Islamists do yet the so called leaders or heads of these fanatical religeous groups are the most corrupt people ever.

I bet they make large donations to the political partys too.

SheepGuy 2007-12-10 06:58 PM

Here in beautiful downtown Brampton Ontario, it's not unusual for Sikhs to try to kill Sikhs over "temple disputes".
When I was 12 my Dad tried to enroll me in The Boys Brigades, an offshoot of the local Baptist Church. Basically a paramilitary damn near fascist outfit where blind obedience to your 14 year old commander was mandatory. He thought it might bring me closer to the Big Guy.
I went to one meeting and got into a fist fight (which I lost badly), and said fuck it, doubt they wanted me back anyways.
Nothing against religion though, I still consider myself a Christian, but I have no use for churches, preachers, priests, and such.
Jesus hung out with the whores, the publicans, the fishermen and the adulterers, and those are also my kind of people :)
The problem with organized religion is the pompous hypocritical assholes who run the show and draw the paychecks.

Just the one it seems from that page you posted up but i can imagine there are others donating to the other parties.

It's a bit like money laundering or is here as all these aid pakages to other countries aren't done out of good will, a kind of "we'll give you money if you look after our party at election time".

Goverments are bought and sold by anyone willing to cough up the money.

Beaver Bob 2007-12-10 08:13 PM

wasn't this place featured in that Jesus camp movie?

Remember how the Columbine shooting started a trend in school shootings? Kind of like a chain reaction... Hopefully this doesn't turn out the same way.

I assume you aren't threatening me...

docholly 2007-12-11 08:02 AM

As I was watching this story on CNN.. all i could hear in my head was Samuel Jackson saying:

Quote:

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
It's truly sad that people are so frustrated with their lives the only thing they can think to do is to go out in a blaze of glory and take others with them. Guns don't kill people.. People carrying guns kill people.

Oh my god, was it? That movie freaked me out. We told the kids we had rented a horror movie, and I don't think that was at all inaccurate.

hashbury 2007-12-11 10:32 PM
