Paying Online with your Epass Visa
this never works for me
but I have heard "myths and legends" that it does work:-) has anyone ever used their epass visa card to pay for something online is there like a secret that I dont know or something |
Never worked for me either Tommy... :(
I would love to hear a solution too.. DD |
I've bought domains with it, anything else seems to get rejected.
|
It works like a charm....I love it...when you're buying something from Amazon.com or something...I've used it for plane tickets on Expedia.com and for software....the catch is, from what I've deduced from all my trying, it won't work anywhere that 2Checkout, Paypal, storm, or any of those other psuedo-visa processors operate...so you can't use epass to pay for something with paypal.com, it won't work. Other than that, It's a regular visa and it's been working fine for me for years...
|
Worked maybe once for me. CCbill, paycom and those places it simply does not work.
|
I bought domains on GoDaddy and it work very well.Every ATM machine that have PLUS service work also.
|
ok so you just input the number from the face of the card into the online form
I thought I seen something about one number for buying online and another for real life stuff |
You mean the virtual visa number i think, that's what i use to buy online and the plastic card for ATM.

I used it to withdrawl the money I put in it from the ATM. Its as worthless now as it was back then. |
I've used the virtual visa number to get stuff from amazon - it seems to work about 75% of the time. Sometimes it get's rejected when it's something from one of their subsidiary sellers, but for amazon itself it works okay. It has also definitely worked okay for some of their sellers.
But to get it to work I had to not use a ten digit zip code - epass handles the ten digit zip without a dash, and amazon doesn't like that. The 5 digit zip works okay. I used it to buy a new DVR after a lightning strike, off of an ebay store with a pretty typical CC processing dealio - no problem at all. I just tried to use it to buy some stuff from tigerdirect, the computer and electronics place - they took the order fine, then sent me a "trouble" email, they didn't want to complete the order, even tho they had actually charged the epass account, because it wasn't a US or canadian card. (which reminds me, I gotta check to be sure they refunded me) This is all with the virtual visa number, the plastic swipe card is useless except for ATM withdrawals. Well, I can't say that for sure, I've never tried to use it as a regular credit card at a store, or to buy gas at a pump. Has anybody done that successfully? |
where do you get the virtural visa number from and that expire date and the stupid 3 digit number on the back of the card
|
I think you can get it from the website - log in and look around for virtual visa.

I actually haven't found a place where I havent been able to use mine.
As Ramster said, make sure you use the virtual card number tho, NOT the number on the card. |
As already mentioned the Visa card is for use in the "real world" for online use you need to use the virtual card if you log in and click "Account Balance" its shows your virtual card number. The CVV2 number is located in your message center either in the welcome message or a message with the subject "Important Information" with a little pad lock next to it.
If you have any questions please email or ICQ me. Michael |
works for me at MOST places to tell u the truth
|
I wonder why there are two for separate purchases (online, offline).

I've never used the virtual number, but I've never had a problem with the plastic card when I'm out and about and wanting to spend that $25 which is burning a hole in my pocket. I've seen people say that it's only good at ATMs, but I've made plenty of purchases with it at stores and restaurants. I'm always a little nervous that it isn't going to work, or worse, the FBI is going to come running in the moment I swipe the card reader, beat me down, call me bad names, and question me as to why I have Visa card based on an offshore account, then jail me for being in cahoots with illegal online gambling organizations. And all I wanted was to buy a fucking Snickers bar. I may be a little paranoid though. |
I use it at atms almost every day
your limit is 300 including fees so you can only take out 280 and you must select checking |

Thanks UW. That's obvious when you point it out. If i'd had a coffee before posting i probably would have realised Keysers meaning straight away and saved myself some typing.
|
I bought domains on Godaddy and I always use it to pay the hosting, but at the same time there was a couple of times when I tried to buy other stuff and it didnt work for me. I guess it depends on what you wanna buy (or where).
|
I had a conversation with CitiBank about this a couple of months ago. Long and involved story, but the bottom line is that if a processor won't accept ePass or other pre-loaded cards it is because the processor has either not fully passed all trust laws, or has been caught breaking some regulation. Apparently any damn fool can get an account to provide processing for "real" cards, but you have to be able to prove you are trustworthy (and not a gangster or terrorist) before you can process pre-loaded cards like ePassporte.
|
I just bought an ipod and a ps3 with it off of amazon. They shipped today. Worked just fine.
Yeah, paying those cash advance fees to load it, when I started the account, sucks moldy dogshit. Why the hell does anybody use cash advance? That's some crazy shit. |

Some reasons for declines is that the virtual card is issued in another country than the card holder is in, Its a virtual card and its a debit card.
My personal experiences is that card holders located in the US gets declined more often because the credit card processors are stricter. |

Now days I just use mine to get cash out of the ATM, though I pick "credit card", guess it works by using checking also?
I've used it to buy many things online and offline, with the right number of course. Can't think of getting declined much. Works fine at Walmart..:) Only thing that bummed me out was when it stopped working with Paypal. |
