So here are the pics I promised. The camera and photo quality suck but the crayfish are damn funny.
I am laughing so much watching them. Oh and their freshwater is clean just blurry.

This one is a shy girl for sure and the other ones are guys |thumb

digifan 2008-12-21 12:21 PM

Some glitch with the board? Won't let me post a few more... damn.

You are not funny at all.. As I posted last week, I got them for Christmas and they are with me in an aquarium. Why would I eat them? I don't like seafood nor freshwater fish etc at all. I used to have dogs when I was healthy, now they mean the company, the pets for me. Do you eat your cat or dog?

LeRoy 2008-12-21 02:15 PM

Nice little critters digifan. I bought a tank a while back and the fishys jumped out :(

Have fun :)

SheepGuy 2008-12-21 02:22 PM

I think they're kind of cool.

Yes they come and go and try to jump out so you have to add a glass top or a nano cube with all the stuff you need. Shrimps, critters and fish are all acrobats in a sense.

When I was a kid I found one at a pond and decided to keep him as a pet.I took him outside one day and to make a long story short,he ended up crawling out to the street and JUST as I was about to grab him he got crushed by a car.It sucked :(

Ahh glass top . That would would have been nice if I had one of those on my fish tank. I guess I had it coming when I bought the tank at a garage sale for 2 bucks.

I'm part filipino and my mom sucks the heads of fish. Not my pet fish though. I said "no way get yer own fish to suck from the market". |thumb

whats the difference here........nothing, both have to do with eathing, UW is joking and Dolpixx is joking.
I would say the same, i only see those things on my plate...at home and at the restaurants, still nice pets, but again why are you getting mad on dollpixx while UW makes the same joke, Both involved the eating thing....not nice Digi, oh and yes i know i am not nice all the time on the board, but i dont messure with 2 sizes here, and yes i know i dont write proper english, but i dont care.

Pets are one of life's great pleasures.

The difference is that UW made a nice joke... my sis is not a hypocrite either, she loves her pets including shrimp in her aquarium but she likes them on her plate too.
While someone who doesn't post here often, made a comment which would be anything but I did not take it as a joke since it wasn't funny.

Why? Because

"A pet is an animal kept for companionship and enjoyment or a househeld animal, as opposed to livestock, laboratory animals, working animals or sport animals, which are kept for economic reasons. The most popular pets are noted for their loyal or playful characteristics, for their attractive appearance, or for their song. Pets also generally seem to provide their owners with non-trivial health benefits;[1] keeping pets has been shown to help relieve stress to those who like having animals around. There is now a medically-approved class of "therapy animals," mostly dogs, who are brought to visit confined humans. Walking a dog can provide both the owner and the dog with exercise, fresh air, and social interaction."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pet

That's all I'm willing to say about that.

My mother-in-law had a blue one in her aquarium with her tropical fish. I think they're fairly uncommon, but not odd. Blue is odd. (I think they inject dye into to them for that.)

For the record, I think the crucial difference between what I said and what Dollpix said is that I know Digifan and she knows me and my humor. I felt comfortable saying it because I knew she'd take it as it was meant - a minor jest. I assume that Dollpix probably wouldn't have said what she said if it wasn't for me setting the stage for that type of thing. Sorry Digi.

I always thought that I would be a good pet owner, but I'm not. I grew up having cats and dogs, but own my dogs and cat wear me down. (They're possibly even more needy than I am, and that's really, really needy.) Our friends seem to think our dogs are great, so maybe they aren't the total bastards I perceive them to be. (The dogs, not our friends. Our friends are bastards.) We had a 55 gallon aquarium with Oscars, and I liked them, but it seemed like a lot of work to keep the tank clean. They shit a lot. If they every create a fish that shits water, I'll consider getting another aquarium.

They are cute digifan! The fact that they make you happy makes them extra cute |thumb

Cool pets, didn't think of that |jester| Merry Christmas!

Mr Exotic 2008-12-23 03:52 PM

I used to have 5 or 6 fish tanks going at all times, I had African cichlids in a couple tanks and the South American cichlids in some others. And usually had a tank with live plants and community tropicals. Nowadays I just have a 20 gallon planted tank (I do C02 injection, high lighting, and ferts) that I raise fancy guppies in and a keep a bare 10 gallon in to put the females that are getting ready to drop babies and to actually raise the babies big enough so that they dont get ate. When a baby gets so big its endanger of eating the newborns I put it in the big tank. I started off with 3 males and 7 females of different types of fancy guppies and now have around 20 adults and probably 150 babies or more. I also cull (flush down the tiolet) the baby uglies, since I am selectively breeding them and hoping to someday create my own "strain" of fancy guppies.

To get back on topic, I once found a big crawdad crawling around a parking lot after a rain storm one summer night, took him home and put him my community take. He was quite a woot always waving his claws at the fish trying to catch them, but never succeeding. Then one day he was gone, later that night found him dried up and dead on the other side of the house.
