I'll be putting some banners up tomorrow and trying to drive a little traffic.

I added both the straight and gay banners and text links in today. Now all I need is some guys to stick their dicks in it.

I'd like to suggest adding this as an option in our AEBN custom theaters.
It seems like it would be a good place to suggest someone gets a RealTouch.

We can add links on our other sites/pages, but it would be nice to have a way to include promos for the RealTouch in our customized AEBN theaters too.

Simon - we will have RealTouch ad zones in theatres shortly, though due to the wildly divergent price points on a minutes package vs a RealTouch device, I wouldn't expect crazy conversions there. I have a pretty strong conviction that it's going to do better for people as a separate promotion, despite its presence within the AEBN program.

My google rep which is local bought one of these on the early adopters program [whoa] and he was totally confused to find movies to get his jerk on.

As soon as they separated it out of theatre this guy has worn it out.

These guys are actively comparing notes on which vids they like the best etc and they are addicted. He was out of minutes within a week and more than happy to pay for more.

These first adaptors are going to spend mega bucks on it. Thats why its important to get links up quickly ... a wise man said ...do you want someone else to get your best customers?

The first adaptors are the same guys that make 6 figures and buy every newtech gadget out there. They already have placed an order for an Ipad earlier this week and start in a low 6 figure income range.

What Im saying is.... the faster you get your links up the better chance you have of getting a big spender for life.

Gonzo - I appreciate it but its admin related - seems when they changed my mailing addy they only changed half of it - and then I happened to notice that my stats hadnt been updated since July last year so I have no idea what happened to my traffic or money LOL

Question about linking to RealTouch
 

Here's a question for Liz or Gonzo (or anyone else who knows).

The basic revshare/straight link to hit the main page of RealTouch looks like this...

I'd like to know if the affiliate link will still be tracked correctly if the link pointed to the How it Works page, or the Videos page, or Stars page at the RealTouch site instead of the main page?

Example links that I'd like to be sure will track correctly...

The only change to each link is the first word that follows /dispatcher/ in each url.

I dont see why it wouldnt Simon. There is a lot of tracking for deep linking with regular VOD. If Liz doesnt beat me to it Ill see if this is true for RealTouch. I think the refid in place is the important part.

And that was my feeling too, that it should work that way.

But...I was getting ready to post that I'd spoken to an AEBN rep yesterday and was told that deep-linkng is coming for RealTouch but right now if you link to anything except the Home page the tracking may be lost.

I'm looking forward to using deep-links when it's working, so if you can confirm either way that would be great.

Do you think deep linking will include links directly to the stars of the movies? Or is that basically what the deep linking will achieve anyway.

It will, and we will actually be launching a star-specific tool here shortly :)

Simon, your rep was correct - right now, while a hack can be thrown into the URL string, I cannot insure that it will track correctly in the back end. To be sure you receive credit for all transactions, I would only send to the front page at this time.

Please consider some return tracking(cookies,IPs,etc.).

This is not a paysite with impulse buys at a few bucks.

It is a $200 item that surfers will tend to be cost consious about, and do comparison shopping, etc. before actually buying. Probably not returning through your linking code.

Most of my sponsors for physical products in the $100-$1000 range average about a 6 month cookie.

Hey, Tickler -- all users have to create a viewer account, which is tied to your ref code. You're golden :)

Liz - I really think Tickler is talking about the *majority* of visitors to the RealTouch site who will not sign up for a viewer account the first time they visit. I say this based on my own stats, which show that only one-third of one percent actually register at the site (that's 3 out of 1,000 or 1:333 who register, for anyone math-challenged).

I would very much like to know that AEBN is putting a mechanism in place to track the other 997 out of 1,000 visitors who do not register but who may come back at any time by simply typing "realtouch' into their browser.

Not golden, not even silver, really not even a bronze awarded on this until long-term tracking is put in place. Can't really justify sending much traffic without that.

Well, I got my AEBN newsletter, and now we hear that the Paris Hilton video has been encoded for RealTouch and of course we're being asked to promote that, but there has still been no announcement of a longer tracking period (cookies which take longer to expire, etc) or any other *real* improvements or enhancements which are of benefit to the affiliates marketing this device.

(There are now hosted banners and page peel ads...which are useless as long as the traffic is not converting as fast as the cookies are expiring.)

Worse - if you go to the RealTouch site now, you can see a box on the lower left which is surely killing most sales right now! It pretty much tells the surfers you send to RealTouch that they should *wait* until May before spending any money on this product. The text tells the surfer that 7-day rentals, unlimited rentals, and 'free' usage without needing to rent a video are coming in May.

Weird - in the latest AEBN newsletter there is a mention of something that I hope is just about the changes in video rentals regarding the RealTouch but I'll put the text below so you can see why my first thought was "What the fuck? They're going to rent these machines to people and then take them back and clean them up?" ...but I'm sure I must be wrong about that one. :D

I've built pages and sites to promote RealTouch and wanted to do more but I can't justify sending traffic to a site which seems to be working at cross purposes to my efforts. That box with the "wait until May" text was what caused me to deactivate my links to RealTouch until we see some real improvements...like at least a 6-month cookie to start with.

Just to see how things are going for others... has anyone who is promoting this gotten their first sale of a RealTouch device yet?

Or anyone have another viewpoint on this?
