No More Greenguy & Jim Poker...Here's Why

Let me start by giving everyone a brief refresher course on the history of these Poker Tournaments:

Jan 14 - Oprano Poker posts that they will be having Poker Tournaments on Thursdays:
http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...&threadid=3869
We let this spam slide because we are on good terms with Oprano

Jan 21 - We are reminded of the next "free" Poker Tournament:
http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...&threadid=4049
We let this spam slide because we are on good terms with Oprano

Jan 28 - Greenguy & Jim are invited to have a "free" weekly Poker Tournament for our board members:
http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...&threadid=4285
This is a very cool idea & we of course accept. Many Greenguy & Jim board members register an account with Choice Poker via Oprano's referral link.

Feb 3 - 1st Greenguy & Jim Poker Tournament happens & about 40 non-board members show up because the password is public to everyone, regardless of if they are a board member or not. This does not sit will with Jim & me, thinking that if we were to give away any prizes, the tournament would have to be for board members only (we see no need to have a contest for non-board members)
I do decide to give away a prize of a main page link for 1 week to the person that knocks me out of the tournament.

Feb 10th - 2nd Poker Tournament happens, the person that knocks me out & wins the link on my main page sells it on GFY.

Feb 17th - 3rd Poker Tournament happens & we adopt the policy of releasing the password for the tournament during the Radio Show. This fails as the password we were given was so easy to guess, that 30 people were registered for the tournament before the radio show went on the air.

Feb 24th - 4th Poker Tournament happens, we have 40 or so people playing & most are board members. Jim & I are happy :)

Mar 2nd - 5th Poker Tournament happens & many have trouble logging in due to some sort of glitch that made everyone verify their email address before they could participate in the tournament.

Mar 7th - We are told that Choice Poker will now be moving to Adult Poker Tour & that everyone has to jump thru hoops & register with a new username, email address, etc. We are also told that there will now be a charge for having the "free" tournaments & that an email is on it's way to me with details.

Mar 9th - Well, we got the email - to put it very mildly, we are quite pissed off.

We've been asked to put up at least $1000 to continue to have our weekly Poker Tournament. With this $1000 also comes advertising on the Adult Poker Tour site & newsletter, which we have no fucking need for what-so-ever.

Here's what pisses me off about all this:

1 - We were asked to have a free poker tournament & sent many people to the Choice Poker site without any referral codes that Jim & I would get credit for.

2 - The referral program for Adult Poker Tour is "coming soon" so now, if we were to continue to have these weekly tournaments, we would get no credit for referring people to the new poker site.

3 - To give away these tournaments for free for 6 weeks & then have the fucking balls to ask for money after we promoted it & sent what I have to assume are a few paying customers, is just plain WRONG!

So, based on all this, there will not be a Greenguy & Jim Poker Tournament tonight nor will there ever be a tournament sponsored by us on Adult Poker Tour.

Jim & I will be looking into some other online poker sites to see if we can have a nice free shits & giggles tournament each week - because to us this is all just shits & giggles.

If any of you want to continue to play poker at either of these online sites, be my guest. But think about who you are doing business with the next time you log in.

Sorry for such a long drawn out rant, but this shit sucks my left fucking nut!

Ramster 2004-03-09 10:07 AM

I hear ya!

If they said it may cost a bit later on but for now it's free, then fine. But that's not the case. |fuckyou|

MrMaryLou 2004-03-09 10:36 AM

Well said Greenie :)

Keyser Soze 2004-03-09 12:54 PM

I understand you most other boards dropped the tourney aswell.
I think they over estimated what boards would pay for the tourneys.

It was fun and I enjoyed playing with you all :)

Jim 2004-03-09 12:56 PM

The biggest problem as I see it is, every other poker program pays you to send traffic to them. This program wants us to pay to send them traffic. Something is wrong with that line of thinking.

Rictor 2004-03-09 02:29 PM

If you find a new place, I'll play.

Greenguy 2004-03-09 03:05 PM

Jim & I will be emailing a few other poker sites to see if we can have weekly shits & giggles tournaments - probably a little to late to do anything for tonight, but we'll work on it :)

djhits 2004-03-09 03:13 PM

ye its kind of shit that they are asking for payment , fair enough offer everyone a trial but warn them that it will cost them at the end of it.

DangerDave 2004-03-09 04:40 PM

I was actually thinking of playing with some "real" money and was gonna head for 'Choice Poker'

Not anymore... |fuckyou|

DD

Greenguy 2004-03-09 04:45 PM

Jim & I will have info on this during tonight's Radio Show

In the words of an old friend of mine, "It's All Good" :D

I wonder what is involved in running our own poker game, since its all for fun (and maybe prizes if needed). Seems a poker script would not be hard to find or have done.

Surfn 2004-03-09 05:03 PM

Perhaps I'll join in the new games if I can find them. lol

gecko 2004-03-09 07:03 PM

yes I totally agree - they sucked us all in with free tournements then had the nerve to, just liek you say greenguy, ask us to pay and send them free traffic

wont be happening poker people |waves|

gecko 2004-03-09 07:07 PM

hey my first post!!

welcome to me |jester|

123Asian 2004-03-09 07:57 PM

Hey guys-

Check out pacific poker, I approached several poker rooms asking about running a private game for some friends and they were the most accomadating, even to the point they were going to throw some prizes in also.

DangerDave- Choicepoker is a poor place to find good money games, try the bigger poker rooms like party poker, or even pacific poker.

Just want to thank GG again for the link for winning last weeks tournament.

sickkittens 2004-03-09 08:46 PM

Wouldn't that be like you guys charging us to post here? |sad|

Extreme John 2004-03-09 09:22 PM

What a lovely crock of shit that is.

docholly 2004-03-09 11:18 PM

|angry| i'm still stuck on the part where someone who won a week's listing on LOR SOLD it on GFY.... |raygun|

doublep 2004-03-10 04:26 AM

I use partypoker.com - it may be worth checking out for your Tournaments. Choicepoker is rubbish!
I wouldn't mind playing in any comps you have coming up - but the problem is the time zones for me - I think it is about 3AM here when you had yours after the radio show - maybe it is possable to have a couple of tournaments, one for us Euro webmasters too - if there are enough of us interested in the game - just a suggestion.

Cheers

Paul.

Jim 2004-03-10 07:06 AM

Since ChoicePoker decided to charge boards, other poker programs have contacted us offering not only tournaments but even an affiliate account. (The way it should be)

So, don't worry guys, we will be playing poker again very soon.

What ChoicePoker is doing is the same thing as if John at ExtremePaychecks charged people to send him traffic.

Sounds hella good!!

Hahaha imgine a sponsor charging for you to send them traffic |lightsabe

Jim 2004-03-10 02:15 PM

That is exactly what they are doing. The entire premise of sending traffic to a casino site is to have them play for free and then once they believe they are good enough, they will play for money. Then, the casino makes money.

I have seen and talked to people from our tournaments that have been playing for real money. Any other casino would give us a percentage of that. ChoicePoker decides we should pay them instead.

To charge someone to send them traffic is just ass backwards.

Surfn 2004-03-10 04:04 PM

Jim

Send them an invoice asking for your cut on the referrals you sent them. :D

Jim 2004-03-10 04:32 PM

Surfn
I already told them to take their offer and reverse it and we would be happy to continue to send traffic :)

Kre8t0r 2004-03-10 05:42 PM

Hello Greenguy & Jim

If you guys figure out a way to have these poker tournaments please let me know. I am also a bit PISSED as they didn't even have the common courtesy to send me an email.. I was talking to Pat who runs/makes announcements for choice/APT on ICQ last night and he didn't mention a thing to me besides the people would need to switch software.. I go and post this on my board and finally TODAY the day of our tourney he posts to that thread with the "Oprano poker has stopped offering a free poker tournaments " line... Needless to say I am a tad upset!! |pissleft|

Hmmmm Maybe GG&J vs ANS no holds barred Texas Hold'em!! I think it has a good ring |knockout|

|rasta|

Carrie 2004-03-11 10:36 AM

Just a couple of notes for you guys...
1. Choice Poker has *always* had an affiliate program. I've been signed up to it since the middle of January.
2. The new APT room also has an affiliate program. It was available to sign up with as soon as the newly skinned software was available for download.
3. MasterP is NOT choice poker, he simply works with them the same way one of you would work closely with another poker site to set up new GG&J games.

Not taking sides, just want to clear a couple of things up that it seems you guys haven't been told about.

If you haven't already, you might want to talk to Dean at PheonicianCasino. They're new and would probably be willing to work with you, Dean has thrown in quite a bit of real money credits for a few of the poker games that were being held before the switch to APT. You won't find many real money games there yet though as they're new.

Jim 2004-03-11 11:28 AM

Not to worry guys...I am on a quest for today :) We have several options and are just deciding which to choose.

Kre8t0r
We will be playing very soon. I will let you know.

tiny 2004-03-11 12:47 PM

Typical INTERNET,some ones always gotten try and put one over on ya.
No wonder people don't wanna spend money only to get ripped off later. Yeah we'll tease ya alil and then when your not looking reach in your pocket.

pornstar2pac 2004-03-11 12:49 PM

So it's 10am here, just woke up ready to start my day and I read green & Jim's newsletter, which I enjoy reading every issue. Jim please let your readers know that it was NOT Choice Poker that decided to charge. It was Adult Poker Tour that is charging. Where in the hell does it say once that Choice Poker is charging?

pornstar2pac 2004-03-11 12:57 PM

With that $65 a tourney fee includes your top 10 players each week in tournaments we do where we have over $1,000 in prizes. And at the end of each month we have our Point standings leaders poker tournament, meaning if you didn't gripe about the $65 a tourney fee then your top 25 poker players would be playing for a prizes that is already at $9,000 from our wonderful sponsors. I expect it will be over$15,000 by March 29th, that's is the day of the tournament.

Your very first post said you had 40 people here that were not members. We'll excuse me for trying to show people a cool board. 30 people guess the password the first week. That fucking means 30 people known who Greenguy & Jim is.

Carrie, Dean was nice enough to give $250 in casino cash to our winner Monday, which was held at the spacious Adult Poker Tour poker room. in which the top 10 poker players of the week from Green and Jim could maybe have won. We dont what none of your members saying WOW I won $250! we don't want none of that around here.

pornstar2pac 2004-03-11 01:10 PM

BTW in April we will have a logo of the board the poker tournament is at. so I would have green guy and jim logo, at a poker room where there are no sharks around, hell theres NOBODY around. Now your going to go to let's say Pacific Poker. Your members are going to love the free roll and I bet you 15 of them will deposit money there. well guess what, they are going to get taken by some of the best poker players in the world.

You guys knows theres 100's of poker players at Party Poker every night just waiting to take money away from the beginner poker player. that's were your sending your fine board members too. WE are bringing our industry closer and networking and you don't want knowing of it. Send me an email if you want to talk shit.

Jim 2004-03-11 01:24 PM

I will let everyone know that it was not choicepoker that is now charging.

So pornstar2pac, I assume that you do not agree that "we" should be paid for sending the poker site our traffic?

Pornopat 2004-03-11 01:28 PM

Greenguy and Jim I completely agree.
For poker I was the spokesperson on newbiewebmasters.com and I feel tricked as well.
They were allready making money from the people playing with real money.
They became greedy and overplayed their hand.
The bluff was called...|rasta|

we have a program that will give you 20% rake back on all your members that play at real money tables.

and yes any new members you sign up , I would check out their affiliate program and sign up for it. Si I'm expecting your going out to see WHERE you can make the most $$$ of your members.

No we were not making money. I will show you my affilate account. I made $43 in 7 weeks from real money players . I'm not into this for the real money poker table side. I'm in it so sponsors and boards have another tool for their marketing purposes. that's where I make my money. you think Party Poker is going to put a greenguy and jim logo on the poker table so EVERY one there can see, even the players not in tournaments....no

we are

Going around to 13 boards everyday for 7 weeks didn't make us any money. They are so many poker rooms out there, you guys have a choice. I'm making one for the Adult Industry. I never once at any boards say go play there and deposit money. Never once did I promote any real money tournaments or real money ring games.

If you ever go to the poker board and read some posts. You could see the change was coming a week and a half from when it did. That's where 9 of 13 boards get their information on the poker games. The other 4, I don't know
