email news letter prize

"I GOT THE WINNER SIKE"

hey greenguy and jim since no one has claimed the money i thought it would be interresting if you guys posted a list on who has got a winning news letter it would be cool to know what we could have had, but lost.. then we will see if people will read there letter.... 2200 dol worth of it...|pcsucks|

Jim 2004-03-19 06:56 AM

I always threaten to do that but we never would. And, just because someone has won or has received the winning newsletter in the past, doesn't mean they won't receive it again.

It is truly random and people that receive the winning email are thrown back into the mix.

Fonz 2004-03-19 08:21 AM

Yeah, just post the names of the persons that won :)

I bet I'm one of them but that the red text wasn't showing for some reason, got a strange newsletter a few weeks ago but no red text :)

Ah well.. one can only hope... $2100 ... I could buy me some nice stuff for that :D

Jim 2004-03-19 08:30 AM

All I can say is you guys would be very surprised if I did post the names. A lot of them are on this board everyday :)

Linkster 2004-03-19 08:40 AM

Thats why Ive always wondered if having the settings non-standard (no html etc.) in email readers might affect this :)

Surfn 2004-03-19 09:05 AM

You don't send them to ppl who are ineligible, right?

spazlabz 2004-03-19 09:05 AM

LOL I figure my chances of winning this are about the same as hitting the lotto, it being random and all. But I can guarantee that my name wouldn't appear on this of people who got a winning e mail. I have read every one of them since I joined the site (both times) never let one slip by just in case ya know?
I was even reading the sponsor section in case it was hidden in there before that teaser was added heh heh.
I know if i got it it is already spent. I want a bundle of new software and a new computer for my home office :)

Just viewed the source of one of the recent newsletters and they are being done in X-Html - which means that I sure wouldn't see it - but then Im a little protective when it comes to my Eudora settings :)

Keyser Soze 2004-03-19 10:40 AM

I could be fun if the names were posted I wouldn´t mind if mine was posted!

I accidently bounced a couple of newsletters and everytime I´ve wondered if it was the winning mail I just bounced :D

Jim 2004-03-19 11:35 AM

Nobody on this thread has ever been sent a winner :)
And, we have not hit an ineligible player yet. I really don't know who would be considered ineligible except Greenie and myself. If I was to pick a moderator one day, Greenie and I would have to talk about it. But, we never said anyone was ineligible.

Ramster 2004-03-19 11:40 AM

If you pick a mod, sure they should win.

I reread my newsletter closely so unless the text is somehow hidden due to my settings I'd see that red text!

plateman 2004-03-19 11:44 AM

i allways look my ass off on those things click every link and use to view the source, but lately i been forgetting to do that

maybe they can show us a example what a winning email looks like..

Alphawolf 2004-03-19 11:55 AM

I always do read them...as they are nice little information newsletters. :)

I look over the red text a few times. Perhaps it's in FLASH and the standard text will morph into RED letters after 15 seconds or so just to make sure you are reading it. :D

Man, it's crazy it can go this long!

Keyser Soze 2004-03-19 12:10 PM

I won the first newsletter prize and I had no doubt that I won :)
Just checked to see if I still had the newsletter so I could post a screen cap but I deleted it :(

cockNballs 2004-03-19 01:12 PM

Maybe just this one next time, inform the winner before hand privately

see if they can in fact see the red text

Rictor 2004-03-19 01:15 PM

Hey yah, what's a winner look like?

WicKed 2004-03-19 01:33 PM

I read over mine very closely so I htink I would know if I had won. I hope i didnt miss it. I could really use that. We found a house and are moving in a couple of months once the lease is up here so that would come in VERy handy...*Hands clasped and praying*...lol

Cleo 2004-03-19 01:33 PM

I use Mail.app for my e-mail client. It usually display everything right, but it will choke on some non standard code or if the sender forgets to close a tag, basically the same problems that Netscape would have.

It uses the rendering engine KHTML from the KDE open source project, same as Safari.

As far as I know all the mails have displayed properly except for the one where you tried to include the code for tables, the code just displayed as an empty table, just white space.

Surfn 2004-03-19 01:43 PM

If I'm eligible I'll claim it then :D

Jim 2004-03-19 01:50 PM

Yeah, giving the money away is not really a contest nor are there any rules other than you have 24 hours to post the phrase of the day :)

So, if a moderator won, I don't see any problem at all giving it to them. I mean, you guys are here without pay just because you are good people. There is no reason why you should be excluded since the only person that knows the winner is me. Every once in a while, Greenie asks me who it is but most times, I am the only one that knows. Most times, I don't know who it is. I just know the email address. Sometimes I do check to see if they are members on the board and a lot of the times, they are not. Who knows, maybe they just don't want to post :)

jennym 2004-03-19 04:22 PM

I agree with you Jim - moderators should be eligible along with everyone else.

But, I think only the board members should be eligible. I think it sucks that people sign up just to win the money, and don't contribute anything to the board.

Just my 2 cents.

DangerDave 2004-03-19 04:31 PM

Well after long deliberations.... I agree...

Moderators should be eligible.....

Now Send Me the Money! :D

DD

Greenguy 2004-03-19 06:12 PM

Jim & I have an idea i the money is still here after next week - stay tuned :D

Cleo 2004-03-19 06:34 PM

If you need an e-mail address to send the winning e-mail to I do have a few. :D

Hey, I read pretty often I just don't post much. I still read the newsletters and check out the sponsors, etc..

Why should someone like that not be eligible?

Now, I'm gonna go make my official winning announcement post before anyone changes their mind!!

Nickname 2004-03-21 07:00 PM

I am probably 1 of those who has won but never claimed the prize :) I get 5 copys of the newsletter, cause I used to submit to linkorama with the email of the domain I had the site on, nowdays I go with 1 email.....how many newsletters are there accually sent out? my guess is 20,000+

finnbear 2004-03-22 09:55 AM

I'm one of those who never win anything. Still I read every newsletter, heh heh, but no red letters yet...|sad|

Jim 2004-03-22 10:07 AM

Guys
Your chances are going to be much better in the next few weeks. Some of the details will be in today's newsletter.

Pornopat 2004-03-22 11:37 AM

I apologise for not having claimed the prize yet.
I spell out the newsletter very thoroughly but I can not find the words I am looking for.
Since nobody else claimed it I probably did not look good enough.
Are you going to paypal me the money or do you need an adress to send the cheque to?

Surfn 2004-03-22 12:35 PM

There was plenty of red in my newsletter today. Unfortunately it was ALL links. |sad|

spazlabz 2004-03-22 01:21 PM

hahahhaa I just got/read my newsletter and the tips & tricks part got me kind of chuckling.
Makes me wonder how many people will be contacting their friends to tell them to make sure they sign up on the page provided|jester|
No worries here though. Wether or not i win the give away is irrelevant, sure we ALL want the cash, but I still enjoy the newsletter with or without big bold red letters saying I won something heh heh
I'd just like to get a buddy christ statue heh heh, unfortunately, ya gotta earn that little ditty

Keyser Soze 2004-03-22 02:51 PM

Yeah, that’s me. (blushing) The newsletters and this site have helped me build up my website a lot, but I am kind of new to this and don’t have a porn site (yet), so I feel weird posting much. I love the site and have found some excellent porn sources for my personal use |bananna| from y’all, but until and unless I actually become a porn-webmistress, as it were, I feel like a dork for posting. Maybe someday, when I can devote more time to my porn obsession, I will venture into the business, but this is no place for dilettantes, it seems…

Rictor 2004-03-30 03:00 AM

Yah, there's no reason to exclude moderators. They work hard and deserve a chance to win.
