Fuck my advanced submitter just died - WTF do I use to submit sites NOW?

In the last few days the tool I've been using for semi-automatic submission for years, Advanced Submitter, stopped working. It freezes and I get the error "floating point division by zero", lol.

As I recall, advanced submitter is defunct as a company - so no way to replace it.

What are people using as a submission assitant these days - FUCK!

hashbury 2011-05-30 12:15 AM

Never really heard of advanced submiter but whar about chamelion ( how ever in the fuck you spell that)

I used it for freesites and tgp and would still be using it if i was doing gals or fs

or something else you could try roboform>?

Bill 2011-05-30 12:31 AM

I thought roboform was defunct - I used to use it, I THINK - or was that some other form filler.

No - wait - roboform isnt defunct, it's just pay now, or something... I seem to vaguely recall reading about that.

Greenguy 2011-05-30 12:32 AM

How about doing it by hand? |couch|

hashbury 2011-05-30 12:37 AM

Ithink firefox has something close but can remember the name, and its totaly free.

Bill 2011-05-30 12:38 AM

because by hand mistakes are much easier to make - the paranoia kills me.

but I may be reduced to that.

using a semiauto tool like advanced submitter (was), has some real advantages.

hashbury 2011-05-30 12:47 AM

found the alrenitive to roboform if your interested. http://informenter.mozdev.org/installation.html

Cleo 2011-05-30 07:16 AM

I use a multiple clipboard utility called CopyPaste Pro. I know they were supposed to be coming out with a Windows version, not sue if it is available yet.

HowlingWulf 2011-05-30 08:30 AM

I use Chameleon. Roboform too.

Simon 2011-05-30 09:17 AM

Fireform here (heard there may be some trouble with FF4)

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...ddon/fireform/

SheepGuy 2011-05-30 02:09 PM

I've been using the trial version of roboform for years, it does all I need it to do for subs.

Me Too. I upgraded to the paid RoboForm everywhere. I love it, we sync all our computers now so they all have the same passwords, since I do change them up from time to time.

I use Chameleon for tgp. I use roboform for link lists, have almost since I got in the biz. |thumb

geirlur 2011-05-30 06:28 PM

Chameleon does the job for me.. feel free to use my ref-code ;)
I also use TypeItIn for some hand submissions.

Gonzodave 2011-05-30 07:25 PM

But really, just how good is Chameleon? Does it live up to its claims?

fetishbank 2011-06-02 04:10 AM

Another good software similar to the one Cleo is using is "QuickPhrase". You can configure it for using CTRL+any keys. A good idea is to configure keys like: CTRL+E: email - CTRL+U: url - CTRL+D: description and so on.

I'm using version 1.70 which is licensed freeware. I just checked their site and now there's only a pay version available, but maybe you can find the old free version somewhere around the net. It already has all the features you need.

Bill 2011-06-02 06:54 AM

Chameleon is $179 a year? That blows, fuck that shit.

But for that awsome low price of 179 a year you can also submit your sites to thousands of defunt link list.

didn't it use to be a lot higher, and that price now???|crazy|

JackDaniel's 2011-06-03 01:58 AM

Hey Bill,

I just saw your post and I installed my copy of AS which seems to work perfectly so maybe you should try to reinstall it or try it on another pc and see if it works. It is a very helpful software indeed and I wouldn't jump to buy anything else since you don't have to pay for this one anymore.

I hope this helps and let me know if there's anything I can help you with.

Bill 2011-06-03 06:15 AM

I reinstalled it - still getting the error.

Do you use IE9? I suspect thats the source of the trouble. (on win7)

I will really miss this tool if I cant fix it.

I was wondering - it cant be all that hard to make a tool that does what AS does, without all the extra bullshit, it;s just a form filler.

Today I tried an opensource clipboard utility called ditto - setting up hot keys to hold the three lines of info I most need, site name, url, and description. That worked okay. I had all teh sub pages in one folder and opened them all at once, then just went from tab to tab.

Best free clipboard replacement page:
http://www.techsupportalert.com/best...nt-utility.htm

Ditto - the top entry:
http://ditto-cp.sourceforge.net/

It's a workable solution. Not as great as AS, but I might be able to get used to it.

Bill 2011-06-03 06:20 AM

Oh, I also installed an older roboform trial/free version, one that allows up to thirty profiles.

Got that from this page:

http://www.techsupportalert.com/best...rd-manager.htm

I already have lastpass as a password manager, roboform seems similar. I dont need a second password manager.

you folks using roboform - how the fuck do you get it to enter the info that changes from site to site - the site name, the url, and the description? Whats your roboform method?

I haven't yet seen how roboform (or lastpass) is in any way comparable to advanced submitter.

JackDaniel's 2011-06-03 08:44 AM

I'm also using windows 7 and IE9 and it works fine ... probably it has something to do with your windows ... might be a good ideea to reinstall your OS ... I usually do that once every year and everytime I'm amazed how good smooth and fast everything runs after a fresh install.

tickler 2011-06-03 09:48 AM

I used to dup a simple page that had a few clickcopy boxes, and a list of the submission URLs & and the post URLs.

A quick search/replace of the post URLs, and fill in the boxes with the submission information was all I needed!

Here's the coding for the click boxes!
HTML Code:

<TEXTAREA class=boxtext name=title rows=2 wrap=virtual cols=50 onclick="doCopy(this)">Put title here</textarea>

<TEXTAREA class=boxtext name=desc rows=3 wrap=virtual cols=50 onclick="doCopy(this)">Put Description here</TEXTAREA>

And this is the JS script code for the click boxes!
HTML Code:

<script>

function doCopy(what){

Copied = what.createTextRange();
Copied.execCommand("Copy");

}

</script>

I use the Roboform Toolbar for Firefox. Here's my settings:

On the "Person" page I have my Name and Email.

Then on the "Custom" page is where all the freesite info goes. Make sure to include the "Other Match Strings" because some submit forms use different phrases. Just change the "Field Value" with each new freesite.

http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/4809/roboform.jpg

This takes care of everything. For most submit pages, I just click the Roboform button and then hit Submit.

Thanks man that was very clear, I got it right away. Will try that.

Now just have to figure out how to get roboform and lastpass to play nice together.

A fresh install - hmmm - I'll be looking into that, never tried it, could be worth trying.

Time to hit the google, lol.

Presumably you mean a "repair install"?

Sounds a bit nervewracking.

  • You may lose the ability to sign on to MSN Messenger, to solve this problem have a look at this thread Unable to sign in to WLM.

lol. I mainly use it to manually submit to sites that I have paid submits for, and partner accounts, or send more than a few clicks.

I like how it creates all my thumbs/links/recips for me. Yea, it might submit on auto to some sites that send little to no traffic, but who cares?

I've found galleries at the top of G for galleries I auto submitted to years ago that make me money. My 2 cents.

Gonzodave 2011-06-04 09:25 PM

I just tried to download the trial version onto two different computers - the W7 IE9 fitted machine just downright refused to accept the download. The W Vista IE8 version accepted the download okay, installed okay but wouldn't let Advanced Submitter run, no explanation, no reason, nothing. I think I'll take Greenie's advice and do it manually!

Actually what I meant was a true clean install, formattiing the partition on which you're installing windows (you can do that from the windows setup but I'm using Hiren's BootCD for that). Doing that you will loose everything on that partition and all your installed software, that's a pain in the ass because you will spend all day long installing softwares and drivers.

After you finish installing everything, you can use Ghost from you're Hiren's BootCD and create an image of the partition with your OS and softwares so the next time you want a fresh install you can youse Hiren's BootCD to restore your partition from the image, exactly the same way it was when you created the image.

Advanced Submitter is the best. I tried that Chameleon crap and would rather do it all by hand like back in the day - its that bad. If you havent tried Advanced Submitter then you have no idea what we are referring to.
I also use Roboform for IE but use the addon for FF at the office.
I am on XP and will stay on it for as long as I can... My roboform and thankfully Advanced Submitter are still working.

I am wondering about upgrading to win7 pro so I can set up a virtual machine running XP in my win7 machine - that should I think allow me to use AS.

Problem is I can't be sure it will work.

But, I wouldn't mind having the pro version anyway.

I have to test this roboform system more before I decide.

MeatPounder 2011-06-05 11:51 PM

The good thing is you don't even have to open the virtual machine...you click the link to the program in win 7 and it runs (the links to xp programs go to your startmenu in win 7)
