Link Sites Bull..?
Maybe this is just me and me letting my link site rules become lapse, but I have had the biggest load of bull rejection of my life!
I generally build sites based on my own web sites rules which I would like to think are about average. I have been listed on 99% of link sites all except one. I'm not going to name what one even though I think it is lame, I I was just thinking of introducing this thread to them. http://www.smileyslinks.com/halfmanhalflady/ Would anyone else reject this site for having the term 'Enter Here' on the banner? I would think that a surfer would have the sense to realise that a nice big enter link would indicate the entrance of the site, not something in small text in the corner of a banner. What do you guys think? |
Quote:
The fact that there is no text around that banner identifying it as a paysite makes it even more misleading. Most links sites that I submit to (and also my own) insist on the word 'enter' appearing only once on the warning page, and that includes on the banners. |
I wouldnt if the rest of the site looked clean and no blindish links and that banner wasnt next to the enter link
the picture file size is kinda big 98k on one i checked that kills those dialup people they either leave your site or the link list that they are on.. |

Why would put it there Jay?
This has nothing to do with your link site |huh |
has this opage been fixed already? cuz i have no idea what you guys are talking about
|
That "enter here" on the banner would be ok with me. If it was down, say right under the enterance to the site or near it, I might decline it.
I'm more worried aobut the obvious blind links with the word "enter" in them. |
I have been in same situation. I try to avoid banners that has enter here as text, but sometimes it's something like blinking text that I didn't notice. That has happened. Usually it's just 1 or 2 LLs that reject for that, others list my site.
|
Thanx for all your input guys.
I just wanted to hear whether it was just me thinking something wasn't that important when it was. Looks like I'll just be avoiding them banners or that link site |bananna
I don't know if it was my link list that might have declined you or not seeing as I'm not the only one that does reviews and anyway I always blame all the bad stuff on Luna. LOL
With a banner way up top that says Enter it is pretty much hot or miss if it will get accepted. I declined one today that had a PersianKitty recip and her recip had a big Enter on it. |
To me it looks fine, Ithink I approved it under a different name, you can obviously see that the "ENTER" is part of the banner and not an entrance to the site.

While Premium Sex Links and Link Fabulous hate blind links I am sure we or our reviewers would have passed that one
|
Thanx for all the feedback guys.
Seems like we are have our own opinions regarding it all; but the majority are cool with it. Smetimes it seems like we are making this business that much harder for each other, All because of a few dickheads that are about. Once again thanx everyone for your input |roses

Well...
Wild_Unicorn maybe you need to go read a few rules again... Even if the enter on the banner didnt get you rejected... the hidden search engine spam in your page should/would have got you rejected here, ......and the fact that you ignored peoples rules about "free-hosting" should get you blacklisted in a few places too.. Don't blame the link lists when you cant follow the most simple rules. |
Quote:
Dave: how do you pick up freehosted domains? just built up a list of DNS servers? |
yeah Wild_Unicorn i could have sworn i checked the dns on your first couple of submitts but i must have not but just did "rev share hosting"
opti dave must have checked the dns i been useing this http://www.dnsstuff.com/ just makes me wonder because everybody gets checked that i dont know but it looks like if you cant overlook a dns check on nobody.. |
Hidden links, free hosting. :(
Seeing as I knew you from the boards I never really checked you stuff real good. :( I had a bunch of your sites listed until a few minutes ago. Now you have a new listing on my ban list. :( WTF were you thinking |angry
plateman: thanks for that.. I meant more how do people pick up all the dns server names that freehosts use.. is it just that everyone keeps their own list when recognizing them or does someone keep a central list of the DNS servers used by freehosters and scammers somewhere? Either way.. if anyone has a good list of known freehosting DNS servers they wouldn't mind sharing.. I would appreciate a copy.

I've found going the DNS and seeing what is there works pretty well.

You guys have all known me for a long time and i'm not in the game of making enemies but DD - YOU ARE TALKING B**L SH*T!! |angry|
Before you start accusing, MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR FACTS CORRECT FULLY!! Quote:
I do not submit my sites to you as you have your NO REVSHARE rule, I respect your rules and as a result I submit to you no more. Yes I do use rev-share hosting and I have been with them for a long time. Wild Unicorns was always fu*king up and causing me serious problems with getting listed. That is why I told the webmaster of revshare that I was changing host to a paid server. His response to that was that he could offer me Paid hosting on the core servers for a small price. That way he still gets a little from what I make and I don't have to go through the hassle of changing all my domains over. I decided to go ahead with it and from then I have been Hosted on RevCore7 of revshare hosting and have been there for a long time. And I do PAY FOR THE SERVICES!! It has 99.8% uptime (much like every other paid host). Plus I recieve every other feature that all other paid hosts do. I have the webmaster's office and cell phone number for tech support, full address and the help of his team when I need. No freehost is going to ofer that!! ANYONE NAME ME ANY FREEHOST WITH ANY OF THEM FEATURES? RevCore IS a PAID HOST - But he only offers it to webmasters that have been on the other crappy servers before. The one difference being I pay less for the loyalty I have shown him! I can get him to substantiate everything I'm saying if anyone likes and if anyone wants to check up on it feel free! Directly from an e-mail dated last year: --------------------------------------------------------------- I have changed all 4 of those domains to RevCore-7...however, you won't be able to see anything off the new servers until your pc's cache clears and allows you to get to your domain via the new ip's. Please let me know if all is well? Good luck with this new move and I'm sure you'll recieve none of the problems you have done before. Maestro www.revsharehosting.com Bridging the gap between FREE and PAID hosting --------------------------------------------------------------- In regard to having invisible links at the bottom of a page for search engines to my own sites I honestly didn't know I couldn't do it. We all try and get traffic from search engines and link popularity is something we all work for. No surfer is ever going to click on them and besides that from what I saw they caused no harm. That fact that people have kicked up a fuss about them obviously means it is a no no, for which i'm genuinely sorry to anyone it has offended. I have removed them all and will ensure none of my future sites will contain any. There is not one person on this board that has ever had a bad experience with me (to my knowledge) and I'm not into fucking people over, there are loads of webmasters out there to substantiate my character. I am a genuinely honest webmaster and have spent alot of time specifically building good relationships with other webmasters and it has taken me a long time to build what I have. Does anyone honestly think I would conciously make dumb ass mistake that could ruin me in this business and burn every bridge I have ever built with other webmasters? Cleo and any other webmasters that are thinking shitty of me now feel free to substantiate anything I have said. If I've gained any bans from anyone over this then I would also hope that you reconsider. Thanx in advance |pcwins
No free hosts and a maximum of three outgoing links.
What part of the above do you not understand? |
Quote:
This is more proof that I am on the RevCore servers and am not bound by the same rules like all the other free hosted sites. This is how Wild Unicorns was only small one day and grew massive the next. I was given serious freedom to pretty much do what I like. |
Quote:
... and for the latter i'm a dickhead and I'm sorry. If i didn't give a shit then I would have left them there! Cut me some slack for christ sake! |

Seeing as revshare is such an issue for many webmasters I will use a new paid host for all my future free sites.
I'm sorting it right now. |
Quote:
I am tied into only into few of the standard revshare rules due to where my sites are they do not apply as the server is far more powerful and can handle the pressure. I have called Maestro and sent a link of this thread to him to check it out. |
You can get a dedicated server now for $49.
If you can't afford to pay for your own hosting out of what you make each month then you need to find another occupation seeing as flipping burgers pays much more then this. I'm a vegetarian so I don't have time to review sites from people that make less then you could flipping burgers. |
Cleo, Opti, Plateman and Surfn...
Just to chime in here for a minute...yes, Dan started on our main RevShare Hosting program...as all our wm's do. However, Dan has proven himself in our program for almost 2 years now and he has been moved to our RevCore program. He pays for this hosting just like he would pay for ANY other paid hosting...and he gets ALL the benefits of ANY paid host. We still have him serving off our revsharehosting.com nameservers as it's usually easier to just change the ip associated with the domain and point to a RevCore server...and avoid the dns/nameserver change. Not sure what is the deal with your 2-3 link rule and if Dan is in compliance with that...but don't for another minute think that Dan in on a 'free host'. Surfn...as with ALL our webmasters that use their OWN domains...our webmasters DO, AND ALWAYS HAVE controlled their own 404 pages. Yes, we have a default 404 page setup until such time as that webmaster changes it to his own sponsor codes...so I'm not sure what the arguement is there. Thansk, Maestro RevShare Hosting |

Cleo,
What does the fact that you can get a dedicated server for $49 have to do with anything? What about bandwidth...you don't get SHIT for $49/month. I have webmasters that do 200 sales/week and are still using RevShare Hosting/RevCore servers...it has NOTHING to do with the fact that there are $49 dedicated servers out there. They are still here because I put them on multiple servers if they need it...no setup fees, no server fees...no bandwidth bills. ALL our servers are FULLY loaded, dual processors, 2 GIG of ram...and when there is a problem with ANY hardware...we fix it IMMEDIATELY and our wm's don't get a bill for ANYTHING. We host 1000+ webmasters here on 65+ servers now, and our webmasters are not here because it is there only option...they are here because we provide a quality service under very reasonable terms. In fact...I would say that webmasters that use our program and have UNLIMITED hosting for a consistant 'fixed' % of their revenue are smarter than most. NEVER, EVER, EVER...will you have a RevShare Hosting webmaster lose money since they pay an average of 12%-15% of their revenue for unlimited hosting. Yes, there are those webmasters that are very efficient...and they pay less than that for their hosting if you figure it all out, but there are still many that pay much more. If any webmaster is paying more than 15% of their revenue for hosting...they are missing out by not being with RevShare Hosting. It doesn't matter how big they are, I have 1 webmaster that is on 5 dedicated servers all for himself...and he does over 100mbs total on all those boxes. He would never have been able to achieve this in the same timeframe he has expanded on RevShare Hosting as the setup fees, upfront charges and contract commitments would have killed him. Yes, RevShare Hosting is not for everyone...but it's a bit narrow minded to not appreciate what we do for our webmasters in the long run. Maestro RevShare Hosting |
Surfn,
YES, YES....YES. Unless a webmaster is using a sub of on of our 12 'house' domains...they get their 404 traffic 100%, always have, always will. We do have templates for them to use, so you might see the same page here and there...but they are 100% all their own sponsor codes. Yes, we have a default 404 page setup on the domains to start with...but if the webmaster neglects to change it that is not the fault of RevShare Hosting and certainly doesn't imply we are 'stealing' anything from him.
