Sat Oct 10 Bit Of This, Bit Of That ...

Morning.

My son is refusing to come to an outside, socially distanced (Canadian) Thanksgiving dinner this weekend be cause my wife and I believe all the "COVID-19 hype". My son is a disrespectful jackass. I suspect my daughter with bail too. Fine, more mashed potatoes for me! [Note to self, don't have kids in your next life.]

Just doing some odds and ends today which is perfect with me. I like quiet work at my desk. I should do out for a walk at some point because it's really nice out today (low 20s C / 70s F). It may be the last day of the season like that.

Have a good one! |thumb

Good Morning :)

Sorry to hear that Art, unfortunately that situation will play out BIGLY this holiday season.

On that note: Merica is a mess, upcoming election will be a cluster fuck and the possibility of blood being spilled afterwards is alarming.

Feeling a bit better after taking yesterday off from the other stuff after eating way too much pizza. I need to get out there today after having breakfast, which is next.

Last race for |hellomoto| is today but I will record it and watch at my leisure probably tomorrow morning.

Other than all that it's just the usual.

Enjoy your Saturday!

You mean you don't pretend that people you know could never possibly have COVID in order to gather & drink/eat? |couch|

All this Ontario Shut down is FUCKING BULLSHIT. We're closed in Ottawa, here's the numbers from OttawaPublicHealth web site.
1 MILLION People live in Ottawa, 5427 confirmed cases (0.54%), Active: 816, Resolved: 4313 and overall 297 deaths (.0297%), 37 people in hospital. We've closed because less than half of 1 percent have tested positive and only 816 active in a city of 1 million? Restaurants and indoor eating shut down, gyms shut down |facepalm| Yet schools and all the big businesses (Walmart, Costco) are open. What are people suppose to do for money that work at the places closed? This is getting fucking stupid.

I am watching a lot of Europe shut down again - the second wave is here. Yeah, it seems like bullshit I know but... they have a reason for shutting it down. We know that not everyone gets tested, so the numbers have always been whacked. The thing we are seeing here in Finland is a lot of the younger people are spreading it. They are not getting sick, but we see outbreaks in the schools, restaurants, and bars. Lapland has a small spike going. Finland is also restricting those venues again, even though the spike is small (just like Ottawa). As our President has said, if we all do our parts, we will be lifting the restrictions in just a few weeks. No, we are not happy, but we don't want any more deaths.

Better safe than sorry. Do lockdowns work? I don't think so if EU and US are any standards for measure. Common sense works though. I know I wouldn't want to get hit with it and go on a ventilator. Survivor stories are horrifying.

I think to a degree the lockdowns do work. If the virus spreads more easily when people are indoors talking loud (or singing) like in bars, then not going to bars makes sense. If you have to be close to people, mask up. People can easily do this themselves, but they prefer to have government do it for them, I guess, so they can bitch about it.

For some of the younger people that have dealth with it, they are enduring months of lingering problems that are no laughing matter. |trump| thinks he is immune, but then, I have my doubts that he was that seriously ill. I think a lot of this is just bad acting.

We will see in the next few weeks with |trump| having his political rallys. These are among the very few live participation events going on in the world, so everyone's eyes are on them. If people don't get sick, great. But why risk attending an event like that?

This goes hand in hand with something The Husband and I were just talking about -- live streaming music concerts. I am a total live music addict and I miss being able to go out to the venues every night for my fix. We just don't have that many shows here in Finland, plus we are way out in the sticks. Some of the artists got smart and did live streams where you can buy tickets and get certain perks like behind the scenes footage. It has been awesome, and we try to catch every one we can both from here in Finland and from Texas. I can appreciate the difference in the energy levels between live and streamed, but... it doesn't spread the virus, it lets the artist earn some money, and we get front row seats plus no travel.

Why in this age is anyone insisting on doing full-on live rallys???

I like live streams. Have been checking out special movie events and other shows all through virtual world. I like to be comfortable at home so sitting around in my jammies having a cold one watching a wide screen is not so bad. lol.

Here is an example of fun shows available online.

is another. Im a fan of Alan Moore from the Watchmen comics. He actually performs in this movie.

If you have any good links post them up.

Common sense as to prevail. However, the world is short on supply at the moment. The idiots spewing constitutional rights violations that masks present are just one of many examples.
