.ru extension
'external referrer links' I'm always getting an abundance of sites from Russia (.ru), certainly everyone must. I block certain url's in .htaccess on one of my blogs, wondering if anyone else does anything in the way of blocking the sites, or the country based on IP's or other methods.

I get tons of them both to my porn stuff and mainstream stuff. THe odd thing is that when I go to the referring page I never actually find my URL.

They are hoping that you have a public access log or a stats long setting up a back link to their site from your site. So it has to be some kind of bot. I don't know how it chooses the sites to go after.
Maybe a file of domain names from alex or something. Nice write-up, I haven't tried it yet though. http://internetprofituniversity.com/...backlink-spam/ |

We block as many unproductive countries or IPs as necessary.
Waist of bandwidth. Thanks too for that blog post link. Looks useful |
You are welcome JAI-LING and housekeeper. Just added that code to my htaccess file for my water filter site. I will see how that goes. Seeing too much of that junk in my access logs. I'm afraid now my logs will go back to being empty. LOL.
