MGPs with Flash Video

Hi, I'm just experimenting with MGPs with embedded Flash movies (something like this) and I haven't had any luck submitting them so I was wondering - am I flogging a dead horse by using flash? Would surfers really rather have 10 second mpeg files that they can download rather than watch a few minutes online? I'm new to TGP/MGP - any advice would be a big help!

Cheers,
Evocan

Hi, I'm not sure its the surfers dictating this one - more the TGP / MGP owners whose rules still prohibit things like objects embedded in HTML (thus stopping flash movies). Some owners are seeing sense and allowing flash movies, but it seems to be a slow uptake. Surfers want flash movies (hence the proliferation of tube sites) so why not allow them in galleries?

My advice - if you want to post to as many MGPs as possible, for now stick with mpeg files (at least 4 x 15-20 secs is a good length).

I hope this stimulates some debate as I'd personally love to post all my stuff with flvs!

Yeah not a lot of places accepting embedded Flash movies but there are some. I know Shemp has started accepting Flash galleries and I've started accepting free sites with embedded Flash movies.

One problem I have with embeded flash movies is too many people are using sponsor hosted movies for their free sites and galleries, and the flash player masks the source
If I know and trust the submitter I ignore it, if I don't I become a stickler

I'm probably wrong on this as really does it matter if the submitter hosts the movies or they uses the sponsers bandwidth if the sponsor allows it.
But what happens when the sponsor decides not to have those clips any more?
The site/gallery is still up, but there is no longer any content

I just noticed a free site the other day where the submitter was using sponsor-hosted embeds. I don't like it at all. It's a foolish move. I'm a fan of Flash movies, but for free sites, the content should be hosted by the submitter.
