Members Area Chat/Forum Thingy
 

Next month will mark 26 years that I've been doing this, and I still use technical words like "thingy"|lol|

Boss wants the members to be able to interact. I'm thinking a chat room would be a bad idea, because I'm not moderating live conversations. But a forum of sorts, like this but not nearly as in-depth.

I looked at Zuzana's but didn't see anything (gonna email her)

Ideas?

Well...you can integrate more or less any forum system (not sure what Zuzanas is) -> just be careful to choose something that isnt a complete wormhole of security bugs (which rules out most php forum :D ) ... aside from that any of the big ones could be styled to fit into an Elevated template smoothly

Anyway...the main thing to consider aside from that would be: WHY? Whats going to happen there and who´s going to make it happen ?

Ie -> what is going to draw the members there and make it an asset for them?

- If it is just a support forum where they can see what others moan about its better left in private
- if its a forum where they can post their own stuff its a 2257/copyright nightmare
- if there´s nothing but announcements and random chit chat it easily becomes an abandoned wasteland nobody uses

But...if they can sometimes communicate with models in there, maybe there´s even the odd live chat that´d pull them in. If there´s contests, votes and giveaways they´d like that too. If there´s more behind the scenes photos and videos, maybe little selfie style shortie videos from the models on the way to the shoot or a few nice shots teasing from their private bedrooms for upcoming movies etc etc ...

Basically -> you need extras & actual things to create engagement...reasons for going there

The boss just wants a place for members to be able to converse. I thought a forum would be easier to moderate versus a live 24/7 chatroom.

TOTAL waste of time! I managed a site with over 10,000 members, we had 20-30 regulars posting on the forum. All the forum did was give members a venue to bitch |huh

My other thought on this - how do you protect your models? There are some real creeps out there that have absolutely no manners. If your models are interacting with them without moderation, you are leaving the door open for some cruel remarks. Just check out some of the comments on FreeOnes.

Most forums are a dead issue. Like Ramster said, you only have a tiny number of people who actually post, but most just lurk.

I tried it before. Same results.

I think it might be good or at least okay to allow members to comment on new posts. Give ratings. Give emojis, gifts to the model, maybe. I would also make sure I got an email when someone did post.

Twistys in 2011 when I started there had a forum. Honestly, we had VERY limited number of posters.
