Netflix (Streaming) Thread!

Who else has Netflix? I know JustRobert & Ramster do.

I never know what to watch on Netflix, so I usually wait until I see/hear a lot of buzz about a show or someone I know personally recommends something to me, so maybe we should start a thread?

Just post what you watch & let everyone know if it was good or bad. Simple enough? |shake|

ArtWilliams 2018-06-23 10:27 AM

I do but I don't watch it a lot. My wife does a lot more. The last two things I watched were Kim Schmidt and Arrested Development. I liked AD a lot. Comedian in Cars Getting Coffee is always good. I haven't watch any since it moved to Netflix From Crackle. Movies? I like the Meyerowitz Stories.

jollyhumper 2018-06-23 03:44 PM

I do, but there's limitations on what we get here.
US Netflix has a LOT more of titles. Those licences u know.

But If I stumble over something, I'll shout it out

I did start watching a docuseries called The Staircase last night:
Quote:

In 2001 novelist Michael Peterson's wife died, and he claimed she perished after falling down stairs at their home. The medical examiner, however, determined that she had been beaten with a weapon, which led to Peterson becoming a suspect in what would become a murder investigation. This series, which began with eight episodes in 2005 before being updated in 2013 and 2018, follows the investigation as it proceeds from Peterson's arrest to a verdict being reached in the ensuing trial. The real-life courtroom thriller offers a rare and revealing inside look at a high-profile murder trial and an examination of contemporary American justice.
It's 13 eposides & I'm only 2 in but it looks pretty good |thumb
...and that description doesn't mention the "secret" we're told about in Episode 2 |whisper|

Ramster 2018-06-25 09:00 AM

Haven't been watching a lot lately but there is a lot to be watched |thumb

Just started a show about an asteroid about to crash into Earth, can't remember the name and this PC isn't logged into Netflix so can't be bothered to turn on the TV lol. But the show has promise so far.

Still watching this - I'm on Episode 7 or 8 and, even though it's shot from his perspective, I honestly don't know if he did it or not. There's a lot of "I did not see that coming" moments |thumb

I finished this up yesterday and I'm still not sure if he did it or not |huh It's 13 episodes total & was really 3 parts: 1-8, 9-10, 11-13. The last 3 episodes could've been combined into 1, because there's a lot of 1 on 1 interviews with the guy reflecting about this & that and it's filled with these poignant solo shots of him outside staring into the distance & blah blah blah. But don't let that dissuade you: the 1st 10 are well worth watching |thumb DM me after you watch them & I'll fill you in on the last 3 :D

This one has potential: Explained is a weekly series where they basically explain stuff like Cryptocurrency, The Stock Market, eSports, K-Pop (South Korean Pop Music), etc. And they're short: 15-20 min each. So far so good :)

Nice tip! I watched a few episodes now and It's interesting.
I'm slightly into Esport but have never tried to find out origins and such

Staircase shows up with Norwegian title, is it about author Michael Peterson?

Jolly

Even in Belgium we have Netflix, kinda slow on our dial-up modems, I started watching this brand new series called Fawlty Towers, hilarious!

j/k, I'm watching all the marvel stuff mainly. Also liked Black Mirror a lot. Spooky but accurate...

Fucking LOVE that series!

In case anyone hasn't seen it Sense 8 was really good.

I finally got to see the final 2 hour episode as my wife was re-watching the 2 seasons before it. It's a bummer they ended the series, at what I heard was 19 million an episode I can understand why, but at least they put out this 2 hour finale to bring it closure. Of course they only did this do to the complaints.

Also been watching GLOW a nice campy throw back to the 80's :D

Sense8 was AWESOME!!! Not to mention Bae Doona's nipples, which are divine!

I've been meaning to watch GLOW, so that'll probably be next |thumb

JustRobert 2018-07-13 07:47 PM

During my breaks I watched the series Kiss Me First (only 6 episode) and it was interesting with a mix of VR RPG gaming and live action.

Today while cooling down and eating lunch I watched the movie TAU and found that entertaining, not great but not bad either.

Greenguy 2018-07-13 09:26 PM

I started watching Lost In Space & 15 min into it I was done. Why?

1 - It starts out with the family of 5 in their ship playing Go Fish (in zero gravity) to kill the time & like a minute later, there's an announcement that they'll be docking with the space station in 30 seconds. How fucking short is your attention span that you need to kill a whopping 2-3 minutes before you dock with a space station by playing Go Fish?? OK whatever...

2 - Remember zero gravity? The ship gets hit by another ship in a meteor storm before they dock & all this shit that wasn't secure & somehow wasn't floating around all of a sudden goes flying everywhere & a big metal storage box hit & breaks the mom's leg. If they had gravity & lost it when the got hit - no problem. This way makes no fucking sense.

3 - They crash land on a mountain glacier or some shit & the ship sinks into water after they get out. Mom checks her tablet & says they have to figure something out because it'll be -60°F once the sun goes down in a couple hours, which will also cause the water where the ship is to freeze. One of the kids goes in the water to grab supplies out of the ship & not 5 minutes later, with the sun still shining & the family sitting on the ice waiting for the kid, all the water freezes solid in like 30 seconds & traps the kid in the ice. She's in a spacesuit so I assume she lives, but it's still light out & the family is fucking fine. Whatever Earthlike planet they're on must not follow the laws of nature because I can only assume the temp drops a ridiculous amount in a shot period of time from the inside of the planet out & then stops when it hits land...on a mountain. That's when I gave up |facepalm|

Glad you like this one thou I did actually like Lost In Space but then again I watched the original show when I was a kid. Yes the beginning was wonky but you did not make to the new robot. Of course I can overlook a lot of stuff by saying "they jumped the shark there" and continue on.

Last night I watched the new Jim Jeffries stand up special :D

Toby 2018-07-15 10:44 AM

I've been catching up on episodes of Jessica Jones, just a few episodes left to watch from season 2. I've been enjoying it, well written, every character is flawed in some way.

I did watch the 3 or 4 trailers, so I saw him.

I wish I could :D It's the inconsistency that gets me. If everything dropped 90°F in 5-10 minutes, then I'd be fine. I'd also be fine if there wasn't a lake in the middle of a mountain that apparently goes from liquid to solid on a daily basis without affecting the atmosphere an inch away from it |facepalm|

Finished GLOW yesterday & even got a little teary-eyed by the turn at the end of the last match |pokefun||greenguy| I blame a lack of meds :D

I'll probably watch the new Jim Jefferies special next, then my stepdaughter recommended The Confession Tapes, so I'll give that a shot.

Also, what's with Netflix getting all the Marvel & Star Wars movies instead of them being on cable? These are my go-to movies when I'm laying in bed trying to sleep & avoid my own thoughts. Dummy needs to get Netflix hooked up to his bedroom TV :D

I did watch Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later and found this to be stupid and quite bad with a couple moments of laughter. I would of just stopped watching it but found it was the perfect background noise as I sat on the couch with ice and heat doing work on my laptop.

I'm willing to give a show a whole episode to see if things pick up. This time it really did not but I enjoyed seeing all the actors willing to do this crappy series. I figured it was probably like Caddyshack, just a good excuse for them to get together and do mass amounts of drugs at a camp :D

I did watch Altered Carbon and liked it.

You don't have to say anything Greenie as I'm sure you turned this one off too for the inconsistencies :)
