Declined site at Cleo's Links

Hi there,
I have been lurking around here since this board started and have decided to go ahead and make some free sites again (I did that a lot 4-5 years ago when I started up, but havenīt done it in ages).

I did my reserch and checked the submission rules and the accepted layouts for free sites as they are these days. Yesterday, I made the first one and submitted it to about 50 linklists. A lot of them have already listed it, but I was declined at Cleoīs links and the decline email told me to read the rules completly.

I have done that before submitting and now I have read them again 4 times, but I still canīt figure out why the site was declined at Cleoīs links.

This is the site:

http://www.bondagemoney.com/free/gla...n_black_ropes2

Iīm not bitching or anything like that, Iīm just trying to figure out what I should change and reading the rules doesnīt give me any clue to what that is.

I hope Cleo will read this and that other linklists owner could take a look at it let me know what I should change in this and future sites. I submitted it manually (just to let you know that it wasnīt the problem).

Thank you guys - Iīm looking forward to you input :-)
Cordially
Claus

I was on the fence with this one when I reviewed it because the pics were too big (file size & dimensions)

But I think I did list it :)

As a submitter who pretty much knows Cleo's rules and also read her posts, I think the reason might be due to your images being in a different directory. Just my guess :)

Yeah, I was thinking the directory structure was it too. But those are some huge images. Save yourself some bandwidth.

You did list it, thank you :)

True, the pics are big - both in size and dimension. I though that was a good thing as long as they are below 200kb (which they are) - Point noted, Iīll make sure that the pics are smaller in both size and dimensions next time. What dimension are recommended (above 500 px but whatīs the max recommended?)

500 on one side is pretty much the minimum, butj then again, we all know what doing the bare minimum gets us in life :)

Shoot for 640x480 & 40-60k

OK, thatīs true - all the html is in the same directory, but the images are in another but on the same domain (which seems to be what is required).

I have a structure like this
domain.com/free/glamour/teen_black-ropes2
domain.com/free/glamour/teen_black-ropes4
domain.com/free/glamour/teen_black-ropes6

and the images like this domain.com/images/teen_black_ropes

Would you recommend that I put the images in each of the sitefolders (which would seem a bit unnessecary) or would it be OK to just have them in domain.com/free/glamour/

What do other linklist owners think. Do you have any special requirements, other than the content being on the same domain - which is what all the submission rules says - should I go one step further and have the images in eaxactly the same folder as the html ?

Some LL don't require it in the same folder (me included), and some do. Your best bet is to just put the entire site in the same folder, and not have to worry about which ones you need to do it for, and which ones you don't.

FYI - your site is not loading for me. :(

Actually the site is fine but having pics that are 1280x668 is what got you declined.

I don't have this in my rules but using pics this huge will get you declined.

Why would you use pics this big?

Reading through submission rules for all the linklists I noted that content was important. I figured that bigger pics in higher quality was better. Anyway, itīs someting Iīm now aware of and will change in the future. Thank you Cleo for you input a thanks to the other people who provided input, I appriciate your time :)

My monitor that I review on is set to 1024x768 so these pics were too big to even fit on it. lol

700 pixels on the longest side is plenty big enough with 500 being the minimum. :)

BTW having content in a whole different directory someplace else on you site will also get you declined but once I say how big the pics were I didn't even notice that.
