Wierd Email from GG&J
I just got a wierd email from Greenguy & Jim.
RE: Approved Document When it was being downloaded from the server, norton popped up and said it had a virus. I dunno if it really came from the guys here, I highly doubt it, but I wanted to give them the heads up. |
on virii of that type, the "from" address is almost always drawn from the infected computers address book. So it most likely came from someone with both you and gg&j in their address books.

Yeah, that's a classic tactic these days. The email might come from harvesting from the stored documents on the infected persons computer, and intentionally spoofed emails also are seen, but those are more rare.
My guess is it's just a classic and traditional email virus. Did you notice the name of the actual virus? (I see Trev already posted the same thing, but fuck it, I'll post anyway...) |

Ahhh, netsky, that fucker will not die. People keep modifying it and re-releaseing it.
I heard they caught the original coder. If you look at the header you can often figure out who the infected sender is... It's hard to say wether it's worth your while to let them know, there are so many fake "you are infected" spams and exploits your warning might never be seen, and even if it was, would the infected party be thankful. Supposedly it's named after skynet from the terminator movies. |
